Wasn't the Halo 3 beta not announced until December/January?I'm thinking no Halo 4 beta at this point, they usually like to start beating that drum fairly early and they haven't. Plus it's their first game out as a studio and they really shouldn't attempt the split development process of running a beta and working on the retail game at the same time just yet.

I think a beta is needed. It's their first game and they need as much feedback as possible to make the game. That and precedent.
Shameless plug alert, but relevant to the thread: I chatted up GAF's own OuterWorldVoice (and my former co-worker), Frankie himself, on our podcast this week. We got into Anniversary multiplayer decisions and, yes, a bit of Halo 4. Click here if you're interested. Interview starts at about the 1:08:33 (or 68:33) mark.
Halo: CE literally has arrows on the floor telling you where to go.
Blerg. Just noticed the Siege of Madrigal included with CEA OST is a few notes different from Marty's original.
I KNOW, I KNOW, it's a remake...but for some reason I just feel like that one should be left alone. It's my favorite of the series and...I dunno. Blerg.
"That one"? There's more than one that requires a grenade jump. The one I can't seem to get isI'm having trouble grabbing that one skull whereyou have to grenade jump to get it. Can't seem to time it right. :/
Just a couple clarifications:
-The melee buff removal was just a fix of a bug that made the times in-between shorter than they should have been.
So did the original.
That's what I was talking about?
There is a bonus terminal, if you enter all the codes in HaloWaypoint. So what's the deal with this 11th terminal? Anyone care to fill me in?
Here's a link to the video signal issue.

Hopefully Frankie sees this. Only happens to him on Halo CE
I'm just really poor at timing this particular jump. I can either get distance or height, but so far not both. It's a little humiliating.Have you two heard of crouch jumping? Time to learn classic FPS actions like rocket jump.
Have you seen the beta dashboard thread? MS knew what they were getting into with this public preview, haven't heard of anyone being given out to. (Save GAF for the ME leak). You better remove that vid. You are still bound to a NDA for the beta dashboard....

"That one"? There's more than one that requires a grenade jump. The one I can't seem to get isthe Bandanna skull on Silent Cartographer. I can't get up there for the life of me; considering doing it co-op and jump off another person's head. :-(

Is it relevant to the other terminals? Does it continue the story of the first 10, or is it standalone? Basically, should I watch it now, or wait until I've seen the first 10?

I think I'm done with Saber's graphics. They brought such a frustrating mix of gorgeous and godawful (I'm looking at you, red elites) to the table and REALLY missed the point in a lot of key gameplay feedback areas (elite shield flicker is virtually nonexistent, sentinel shields aren't even shown, bullet impacts are not nearly visible enough, night vision is worthless, etc.). The end result is that I'm mostly relying on 10 years worth of muscle memory when I fight elites and banshees. Also, fuck that sniper reticle.
Surprisingly enough (given others' responses here), the place where I felt Saber was most successful in terms of visual updates was in tweaking the cut scenes and adding animations that fit with and improved upon the tone of the original. Maybe I'll just hit the Back button right before cut scenes...
I'm not just bashing Saber across the board - I thought the audio updates turned out great for the most part, but when I see the gorgeous work Certain Affinity did on the multiplayer side (and how many more employees they had in the credits), I'm left wishing they'd let Max and Co. handle the entire project.
Oh well, at least the classic graphics have been HD-ified.

Really? I have to agree with the complaints about elite shields, it just isn't very well done when compared to the original CE. I can kind of see that they were trying to be discrete, but for a game with giant purple and blue aliens with a talking orb, you don't need to be discrete with your shield effects. Also, as others have mentioned, the doors just look awful. I'm satisfied with the overall package though.Saber only did the graphics and frankley i cant see anything they did wrong. The red elites are reach models they arnt to blame for that. Shield flicker is more apparant than ever before they glow when being shot as for everything else i agree but its so non problematice apart from the sentinel sheilds that its not worth mentioning i think the improvements far out weigh the negatives.

Frankie, the guy who hogs all the pink donuts at 343 Industries, confirmed that Halo 4 is for the 360.I've only seen 2 terminals so far... Sogood.gif
With all this xbox 3 talk, has anyone talked about which console Halo 4 will be for? It's releasing around the rumored launch time for the Xbox 3.

I only eat the chocolate ones.
I forgot how smooth the ghost hovers in this game. Feels so good.Driving the Warthog on Halo = Gaming bliss
The Library isn't even the worse level in Halo: CE. I've always hated Keyes the most.

Ryse?Sooooo.... What game does Microsoft have lined up that needs sales # inflation? ;D
Yup. Halo Really had the feel of the vehicles perfect. I would kill to see vehicles go back to the Halo models minus a few changes. I'd like to see the stunts remain for the banshee and the ghost regain it's boost. Otherwise make them identical to Halo 1's vehicles and they'd be perfect.

Love the way vehicles operate in Halo above all others. I've paid the price for not remembering that vehicles can't be boarded, though. I felt so stupid, especially with that damnable Elite laughter after I'm dead.Yup. Halo Really had the feel of the vehicles perfect. I will be trying this tonight, thanks.Activate the lock thing so Bravo's Pelican crashes, grab the rockets and an overshield (there are 3 right outside the building that the skull is in). Start backpedalling on the platform then jump and shoot a rocket at your feet. I got up on my first try after grenade jumping for like 20 minutes where I only got close to the ledge a couple of times.

But like, who cares about Ghosts of Onyx? Expanded universe stuff has no business altering the original Halo experience. I really hope that's not the reason. It's probably just that Sabre didn't fully respect the source material when they updated the graphics.I wonder if the sentinel shield thing was changed because of Ghosts of Onyx. Sentinel shields only pop when they detect high speed projectiles.
