Halo: MCC Multiplayer "1th" patch "fix" live!

I still really want this but it still seems so broken.

Just wait. The amount of games you would play when you own it versus when you don't literally might be the same, and that's zero.

Unless you have the luck of one of those "I just got into 8 games within 10 seconds each, flawless, IDK why you have problems LOLOLOL!!!" people.

My question is, why haven't any news sites posted stories blasting MS for this? MS hasn't even commented on this to my knowledge.

I doubt the silence will last long once the surge of holiday players comes in. Especially if it isn't functioning by Christmas.

Maybe even sooner than that, as Black Friday is right around the corner. If it's bad now, then it's going to get even ugly, as most people are gonna wind up buying the bundles along with this collection then.

I won't be getting it soon. Most games would put me off after such a horrendous start. I don't have a reason to turn on my xbox one these days. Which is a shame.

yeah I'd recommend getting your refunds now if you can. just had a text chat with support in which he refused to give it to me but also said they were aiming for an early December doc for the problem. Fuck that. I'm calling support instead and causing a ruckus

I understand a lot of people are having problems but I played last night and it was at least 10 times better than it used to be. I got into a bunch of games and had no problem at all connecting or with lag.

But a lot of those might end up not being opened until christmas day.

I'm getting so close to the point where I'll demand a satisfaction. I still want to keep the game, but they need to give us beta testers something reeeeally nice for all this.
This. I have no idea what they can do as an apology, but they gotta do something.

They can just make all potential/planned H2A remastered maps free of charge.

Or just make the game functional. Honestly don't need much outside of that.

I don't get all the people returning the game. Sure the launch was a failure, and an opportunity missed for the franchise... but all the main reasons to own the MCC are still there, or on the way. Halo 1-3 with updated resolutions, graphics and frame rates. Dedicated servers are coming. We have these classics for the rest of this generation. I don't understand how people don't think they will get their $60 worth. The game in its current broken state is worth more than $60.

I didn't pay near on $1000 to play p2p garbage once every hour and all signs point to it being months before this game is in an acceptable playable state.

i dont think people will wait around for that.

i think that's pretty subjective. mp is a HUGE part of the package. why wouldn't those people refund it if you could get it at a later date when its (knock on wood) actually fixed? there are tons of games out right now where they don't have to waste their time sitting in lobbies.

I spent $300 on the console after I sold the Assassin's Creed codes. I thought MCC would deliver on at LEAST $300 worth of entertainment and joy, so far, it has delivered $0 because I got a refund on it.

I've probably logged close to IDK, 9,000 hours? 10,000 hours lifetime? Across H1, H2 and H3.

I didn't think they would fuck it up like this.

This is what makes your decision making look impulsive and irrational.

If you are willing to spend hundreds for the game, and can spend thousands of hours playing the game, then why not just wait a few weeks until they patch it? Just pretend it was delayed or you got an early copy you can't play multiplayer on yet.

Seems silly to get all that just to return it because it doesn't work day one.

It's not like it will be broken forever.

Returning a game is not only related to whether or not someone wants to keep the game, but also can be a statement against the developers for releasing a game in a broken state. If I had spent 60 dollars on a massive bundle of promises only to find out that the most promising ones were not there, I'd absolutely be dissapointed, and would want to get my money back and show 343 and Microsoft my disappointment by refusing to let them have my 60 dollars.

Not everyone is willing to take a 20-30 dollar loss on a game because of a broken MP. I sure as hell wouldn't if I had a physical copy.

For those who purchased digitally, I think you still get to keep the game even after the refund. Would need someone else to debunk this for me though, just speaking on a past experience with GTA V.

How on earth did you pay $1000 for this. There's your problem.

Xbox 1 (white) $500
New screen since old one didn't support HDMI $285
MCC $100
Play and charge $22
Headset adapter $35

All up $942

What do I get? Barely if at all functioning matchmaking. Completely broken parties and P2P garbage.

Based on community feedback we’ve received since yesterday’s update, we are bringing the Halo 2: Anniversary Rumble playlist, which features a variety of FFA game types, back into the matchmaking rotation. Our team continues to work on resolving existing matchmaking issues such as party splitting and uneven teams, and in the meantime, this playlist will offer a mix of game types that are not affected by these known issues.

The H2A Rumble playlist will be coming online within the next few hours, and you should see it appear in your playlist lineup shortly. The playlist is currently unranked, but we’ll be bringing ranking online once we’ve ironed out existing matchmaking issues.

Additionally, we’d like to take this opportunity to provide some additional troubleshooting steps that will help ensure the best Halo: The Master Chief Collection experience while our team works on resolving existing issues behind the scenes.

1. Setting your NAT to Open
We’ve found that players who have their NAT set to open tend to have the highest success rates in Matchmaking. For assistance with opening your NAT, head Here

2. Airport Extreme Router Troubleshooting
We’ve found that players who are using Apple Airport routers may have increased difficulty connecting to matches due to the default settings. To optimize your settings for gameplay on Xbox One, follow the below steps to allow teredo tunnels, which is set to “off” by default.

• Open Airport Utility
• Go to the”Network” tab
• Click “Network Options” at the bottom then check "Allow Teredo tunnels"

As we mentioned yesterday, the team is already at work on upcoming updates, and we’ll continue to provide the latest details in this thread. Thank you for your continued patience.

This game needs to be pulled from shelves before friday.

Then potential buyers can just meditate on how grateful they are

Few friends along with myself were going to grab Xbone during black friday. Already have PS4 and gaming notebook and thought it was a good time to grab an Xbox.

Do you guys think this game will be fixed in the near future? Or does this seem like a Driveclub level disaster? This was the main reason I wanted an Xbone if not I can wait or move on.

Is this broken for everyone all the time?

Wow, I didn't know it was this bad, I kept seeing this thread on the first page since it was made but thought that 343i had fixed it and everything was back to normal. I just read the last page and it's been a revelation.

Does this game not have dedicated servers, I've heard a lot about MS's azure servers, shouldn't all this be avoided as a result? Also, did any reviews mention these persisting issues with mp?

If I remember correctly, by the second weekend I was playing Driveclub online better than my current experience with this game.

It's beyond Driveclub level right now, at least for me.

If this is true, you've literally spent a straight year or more of your life just playing Halo. You can do what you want with your time, but maybe MCC being a profound disappointment to you is a blessing in disguise. Get out there and live dammit.

Or at least play something different.

How/why did you pay more than $400 plus tax for an Xbox One?

How did you pay $100 for MCC?

The system comes with a usable headset, the play and charge and headset adapter are not necessary. It's not 343's fault you baught a new TV/Monitor.

Id say you are really stretching it here.

well the guy i replied to specifically talked about returning the game. returning the game implies a full refund. sure selling the game at a loss is a different story.

I love that their instructions are "Set your NAT to Open". As if there's a NAT setting on Xbox One that we can just set. Guess what, MS, I have 4 consoles connected to me TV and NAT is open for all of them except Xbox One. Why? You tell me why your console is behaving differently than any other console and I'll attempt to figure out a way around it.

It didn't feel right that they had my $60 and I didn't. I didn't spend $60 for it to work in December, or even possibly in 2015, I paid $60 for it to work on 11/11/14. I gave it 10 days, no improvements, I want my $60 back. Will I get it again if they fix it? Sure. But they don't get to get my money until they show me they fixed it.

I'm 27. I spent all that time playing H1/H2/H3 in high school and college. I don't have time for games anymore really, and I had to buy XBL just for Halo. You know the e-mail I got from Xbox just last week? It said I spent 15 hours in the past YEAR playing games on Xbox live. 15 hours...in a year.

I haven't played videogames consistently for really close to two years because the e-mail only tracks the past 1. I have a PS3 and Wii. I don't turn on my Wii...ever. I turn my PS3 on every once in awhile to see if PSN+ has anything good, which I split the costs with for $15/ea with my brother starting Black Friday 2013.

Don't patronize me and tell me I should go do other things, because I do. I give you a few sentences in an online gaming forum into my life across literally 13 years of games in H1/H2/H3 and you think you know me. LOL.

Why are people returning this game? Just wait for it to be fixed.

people have returned games for less reason...
this time they actually have a valid excuse, they were boarded on the hype train by Uncle Phil, Uncle Phil has been busy in 'board meetings' so he hasn't been around to give hope to people concerned (his silence is not cool btw) so yeah, people feel like they been duped.

Once it's fixed, its a game that will be in the xb1 top ten online activity for the duration of the consoles life cycle, I'm not denying that, but right now its dead

Anyone giving someone crap for returning the game, or even the system if their primary intention of getting one in order to play the game, should really just stop. Ugh. If you've invested your money in a product, there is an expectation of it working, and being able to provide the experiences promised; if the product isn't working at time of purchase, it isn't unreasonable for some people to have a bad taste in their mouth and not feel like they have to justify their reasons to no longer want that product.

If someone gets a new phone, and it can't use apps for over a week after they get it, they do not need to justify their reason for returning it. That's a fundamentally flawed product. And even if down the line, they get it sorted out, that doesn't erase the negative experiences that the early people experienced. For those of you who are happy with the purchase/experience, that doesn't override the feelings of others. Please, stop with the inane judgments and declarations about people being 'impatient' or 'irrational' for returning the game, or system. It's their money, their time. Don't you think that by insulting or criticizing them, you're only further souring their experience? The better thing to do would be understanding, and encourage them to come back later, when things are rectified.

Then wait for it to be fixed, jeez.

Why should I have to? Why isn't this shit working from day 1? Why is my hard earned money essentially wasted because of incompetence? And how long am I to wait? It is going to be months before this game is in a playable state, mark my words.

How/why did you pay more than $400 plus tax for an Xbox One?

Because every country uses USD doesn't it? Oh, wait...

I should totally throw away my $330 headset/mixamp because the included headset is totally awesome shouldn't I?

Ok, I'll play for about 20 hours before the included batteries die and then I'll have a $500 paperweight. Great logic buddy.

Does the XB1 support VGA output? No? Only HDMI? Ok, well the screen I was using since 2009 only has VGA support so that is useless.

MCC is the solitary reason for me buying an XB1. Yes, I have other games (SO/FH2/DA:I) but I didn't buy this console for any of them.

What does your TV have to do with NAT issues?

The real problem is them saying fix your NAT when Microsoft themselves say NAT types aren't an issue on dedicated servers, you know, them things we were promised and are paying for...

Yeah it sucks that this game still isnt working, but for me personally its giving me time to actually play other games rather than losing all of my life to Halo :P. Given the option, yes I wish MCC actually worked and made it worth the $60 I paid for it, but I can't say I am disappointed too badly considering my current gen backlog already..

My TV has nothing to do with NAT. I was saying I have 4 consoles and only one of them thinks my NAT isn't open.

Question: Are the issues mostly online match making? Or are there any issues with single player bugs too? Thinking about picking up a X1 for Xmas with MCC and I play single player mostly.

It's already in a playable state for the majority of players, so no it's not.

I find it funny how the game constantly breaking and consistently having hilariously uneven teams with atrocious connections can be considered "playable". I guess you just have incredibly low standards.

Achievements are often broken. Games crash. Levels skip. Dev codes pop up. So no, not just matchmaking problems.

by xmas I would bet the matchmaking will be running like a dream. else heads will fall.

anyway, as I said before, master chief collection would still be worth every penny even if it contained only the four halo campaigns and nothing else. (which play great since day 1)

I never said the game is perfect, but I did say it is in a playable state for the "majority of players". I have encountered very few problems since the patch.

Eh...which is it? You are both describing completely different experiences.

Level skipping sounds pretty broken.
