Halo: MCC Multiplayer "1th" patch "fix" live!

I hope Stinkles or someone at 343 posts at Halowaypoint something new! They need to tell us a time frame for a next patch and what they intend to fix.

Yeah seriously, get a refund if you came for the MP and send 343i/MS a strong message...

I'm happy with the SP content and it's why I play Halo, period. That being said, it is utter bullshit what the MP folks are going through.

Only bought it for the multiplayer, and got a refund on my opened physical copy. I do hope they fix things though, as I'll repurchase (it'll be cheaper for me with GCU) if it happens.

it is total madness that they aren't being 100% transparent at this point. i'd shut that ship down if it was me, too many leaks.

Timeframes are hard. If they knew how long that would mean they know how to fix it and what's wrong.

Obviously the solution has eluded them so far.

Hoping we will see something this week, but my not invested in that thought.

Until then I'm enjoying sp. Losing checkpoints sucks but oh well.

And I was very tempted to buy an Xbox one just for this game, and I felt bad that I bought a PS4 (and the only games ive bought; BF4, Destiny, CoD, Madden....can all be bought on the xbox one).

Well at least I dont feel left out, whenever they get it fixed ill get it, but not now.

Quick question: is the game still not working?

The game works and is still fun, its just got some really bad bugs that should have been fixed weeks ago.

Me and my friends stay away from matchmaking completely now and just party up and do custom games. Problem is the party system is still buggy as fuck too and isn't consistent. We need to restart the game A LOT. And I still get way too many hard locks.

But once you're actually in a game its great.

If you are thinking about picking it up. For me it was worth it for singleplayer (had 2 crashes in 20+ hours). But for multiplayer, I'd hold off until stuff has been patched. Might take a while.

This. Multiplayer take frustratingly long to get a match, games end early, and lots of playlists are missing..

That said, when it works, it's perfection.

Single player has some rare bugs and a pro minute one where it only saves when you finish a level, not checkpoints.

Games well worth 60, and will be amazing once patched.

Is it wrong a cringe every time I see a MCC commercial?

I honestly feel bad for 343. They've probably been on crunch since the beginning when MS decided they needed a big gun for this holiday season. There is no way on God's green Earth that MS would delay this. Their entire holiday push was centered on this game. I don't think either side though realized the extent of it all.

People need to stop demanding "transparency". It wouldn't be appropriate for 343 to be sharing PIRs or iteration planning with customers. The only thing 343 owes customers is to fix the game they paid for.

The internal reasons for the bugs and procedures for fixing them are nobody's business.

Hey guys, don't own a One or anything, but my family/relatives had a get together yesterday; after talking, eating and what not, my cousin invited me to play the MCC (Massive Halo fan, had a 49 (Blue Comet) on Halo 2) and I was massively disappointed.

I only touched Halo 2 and H2A, but the bugs, why? No joke, it would take 10-30 minutes to find an online game, the lag was atrocious with split screen; it doesn't work at all (Online Multiplayer; I swear the FPS dropped well below 30). Why is there only one ranked playlist, who thought that was a good idea. Where is Team Snipers on all the Halo Maps? S.W.A.T? I mean, c'mon?! At least the family likes/liked to watch me play, since I'm pretty okay/good.

Question though, is melee bugged in H2/H2A?, lunges seemed reduced in distance and even when you melee'd head on the hit wouldn't connect (This is offline/LAN split screen). I would have experimented more on the mechanics, but some things feel off.

Last I played Halo 2 (6 months ago honestly) was on the PC for a Legendary campaign run, but I don't remember the melee being that bad.

I was massively hyped for this game (ESL tourney), but having some experience with this game, I'm glad I didn't purchase a One or MCC.

The Playlist was intentionally reduced because of matchmaking problems, they will be added back. I believe the same applies to the ranked playlist (that also, with such messed mm issues I dont know why people are worried about their rank yet).

Im having no problems with melee.

I wasn't worried about ranks, but those playlists typically instill a more competitive game, where as unranked playlists are for warming up. Sucks that the playlists were reduced, I was appalled.

If I visit anytime soon, I'll check the melee out again, but I definitely had issues with it and some hits should have been 100% hitting; I'm talking head to head no strafing/backing up type of fights. Thanks for the info though, I would have kept on "crapping" on the game.

I think the problem with 100% transparency is that runs into its own issues. Look at the first patch - they tried to be trasnparent about that and say "we are thinking wednesday for the patch", and then the patch gets delayed and everyone freaks the fuck out because they didn't reach their tentative release day.

At this point I'd probably just want quick little "heads up" updates but have them keep focus on just getting stuff fix. Talk about what you did and what went wrong after things are working.

Right, been a busy weekend with kids and families and all the halo threads have spawned many pages of replies since I last checked in and its been hard to keep up. Has Stinkles been active since the latest patch went live and provided any more details with future updates or has there been any official response to the poor reception of the last patch - I'm guessing, based on teh tone of the last few pages of replies, we have heard nothing officially yet?

This is a good point. I think a solid alternative would be to have set-in-stone "updates times" at least every two or three days, even if there's nothing new to report. But then after that, post the time/day when the next update is due.

Working at a big Engineering company I can attest that people are a lot less stressed when they know an update/communication is due, even if it doesn't really say anything new. Human psychology at its finest here folks. :-)

I'm sorry to say, I was so frustrated with the multiplayer matching fiasco I actually started playing Destiny again this weekend. :C

I don't understand why Destiny can matchmake a game in seconds, and keep a party together but Halo can't.

This is mind bottling.

Bungie are the OGs of MM, that's why.

I thought Halo 2 added in the ability to 'block' by meleeing or lunging at the same time. I know with swords you could keep hitting each other right?

edit: sword canceling, couldn't think of the name before.

This is mental. I really don't think this game will be sorted out anytime soon. What a colossal blunder on the part of 343. Seriously. How can they mess, THIS, of all games up so badly??!

People keep saying this.

The game was rushed out the door to make it in time for the holidays/halo 2 anniversary. Gotta be out before everyone does their christmas shopping.

Its not like they didn't know, they had to of. they also said the matchmaking issues didn't manifest themselves until after launch.

I really don't think they said THATS IT GUYS WE DID IT SHIP IT. Im sure QA was panicking the whole time.

I think everybody can agree that if MCC isn't fixed by Christmas (which is when they'll get their next biggest influx of new customers) then 343's reputation will be irreparably shot.

MCC is pretty much the ultimate testament to how rushing a game out the door can backfire.

When you get a refund, does it go back into your Xbox 'wallet' or does it go back on your credit card? I bought it digitally.

Yeah no matter how much population the game loses now, christmas will provide a real nice bump.

Unless...none of this nonsense is fixed.

We are supposed to hear from them today right?

It better not be "We continue to see improvements and will update you when we can"

if you used PayPal/ credit card it goes back to that. if you used an Xbox gift card etc it reverts to your Xbox wallet. I used PayPal so i got money out back into my account. then k transferred it to my bank

also guys for what it's worth, when I talked to support they said early December for the fix. which makes sense. nothing probably will be done this week

Yep. I blame Microsoft for this more than 343.
