Is it happening?
Will I be able to play a modern Halo game without complaining every match?
Host check thingy appears to work. You can also change lobby privacy there and invite friends too. Didn't even know that was there. Currently worked for the two lobbies I've been put in for MCC H4 playlist.
They're probably afraid of someone figuring out a way to use the information for network manipulation or other such trickery. Not so much the server/region, but host identificationGood news, I hope it's real. I still don't understand why developers won't show who is host or specifically what server/region you're on. It's vital player information. I'll be trying this out later tonight, if matchmaking will be so kind as to actually put me in a game.
Party lead in customs doesn't necessarily mean host. Are we sure it isn't showing a provisional 'party leader' in a random MM match, this being MCC an all? What does it show when a match is on dedicated servers?

Hold on to ya butts.
I never thought Id go from being so pumped to play with thousands of people through all 4 halo games to wondering if when its fixed if there will be anyone left to play with.
This game is gonna need some games with gold/deals with gold discounts REAL soon to get people back on board.
Watch them discount it in like august/september just to get people hyped for h5

I think I posted this in another thread, but if I were in 343's position, I would release the Halo Multiplayer Suite as a GWG separate download once they have finally fixed the game.
People could but the full MCC suit for a discounted rate, or just play the multiplayer for free, forever.
I really hope they do this - would give the game such a population boost.
This Josh Holmes blog for Halo 5 lessons learned better be good.
I have a feeling though that the changes or data learned isn't going to reflect what us core Halo players want out of Halo 5.
- Sprint will probably remain in the game...hoping for toggle
- Aiming down the sights will probably remain in the game...probably will not get a toggle for classic zoom
- Full-auto weapons with smart scope will probably get slight adjustments, but I think the smart scope buff bonus is going to stay with them
- Time to kill better not be nerfed...if anything, I'd rather see an increase, meaning kill FASTER
- Default starting weapons...I'm really hoping they do AR/BR starts across the board...god help us if they say AR/Pistol is the default
With the Halo 5 feedback surveys emailed out...the questions were so specific...I can't help but have a glimmer of hope they're genuinely going to listen to the feedback via those surveys....because the answers are going to be there in pure black and white...so to me, if the surveys show a strong push for NO SPRINT...I will be disappointed if they completely ignore it and force sprint upon us.
Toggling sprint will help for custom games...but for matchmaking...it's going to be a nightmare...I mean, we already have too many community splits with things in Halo...this will only add fuel to the fire.
They are not removing sprint. They are not redesigning all of the maps.

That Frankie post is fake but the shinobi comment is very interesting.

If the make it a toggle though, it can easily be negated with faster player movement speed.
EDIT: I wonder what the speed was for sprint? If we were to use 100% player movement speed as the base...what percent increase does sprint actually provide?
Probably 125%
I'll be one of those people waiting for a heavy discount or games with gold.

That idea makes too much sense, but I doubt they'd do that as they're all too happy with the unsuspecting customer walking into a store a casually spending $60 on the game
I am so ready for this blog. I feel some Halo communities may implode.
I'm putting the chance of multiple meltdowns at 76%.
Yeah. Go out in a blaze of glory by doubling down on sprint, ADS, thruster, and clamber. Make every gun a one shot kill. GOTY for sure. Printing money.I am so ready for this blog. I feel some Halo communities may implode.

I enjoyed the Halo 5 beta, and don't want to change anything aside from up the base walking speed a smidge and some weapon balance tweaks.
Come at me bros.
Played a few games of MCC last night...man it felt so fecking slow.
And believe, I'm a purist Halo nerd.
Halo 5 beta was good. I want more.

What do you mean, "some people"???
Ooh, watch out. Some people here don't like it when you disagree with them. They'll get angry and try to insult you over the Internet.
I agree though, 5's beta was fantastic. Regardless of how different it was to classic Halo, I thought it was extremely fun.

I think you're underestimating people's abilities to freak out at the smallest of things
"It is important that we continue to evolve Halo multiplayer while ensuring that legacy Halo players feel right at home. As a result, I’m happy to say that we will provide toggles in custom games so that sprint and the other Spartan Abilities can be turned off. By putting these tools in the hands of players we will give them the ability to play the game their way, enabling them to create a more traditional style of Halo if they prefer."
Allow players to set desired datacenter for matchmaking (may impact matchmaking speed and skill balance)
