Welp, looks like as time has gone on, the drive by posting has shifted from whining about everyone wanting every Halo to be similar to Halo 2, to now wanting them the same as Halo 3.

I don't know about you, but I don't remember those days. I remember people going batshit insane when they saw the changes to Halo 2 from CE.

How is it any different now than when you and your friends discussed it? That's the Internet for you. And it's changed everything. So now people can have communities of like minded individuals. It's not just the Nintendo power subscribers, or kids hanging outside arcades, or at video game tournaments and LAN's. The only difference is, with the Internet, it's been magnified especially with social media. So whereas those like minded individuals were separated by geography, other barriers, they can now go online, write I hate ADS and find other like minded people who share similar sentiments.

Either way, coming and being elitist or dismissive isn't a good attitude to have yourself. No one said you couldn't have 24 player Warzone to shut up the whiners.

If you read the impressions of the gameplay, heck even if you watch the footage you'll realize there is no serious "pay to win" opportunity in the game. There are simply too many variables for one person with a thirty second head start on a BR to do anything meaningful. It'll be about vanity and aesthetics and bluntly, laziness and curiosity.

I just don't care about that stuff, so weirdly, outside of finding the occasional customized item by a corpse, it's basically invisible to me in the game flow.

And matchmaking considers everything when pairing teams.

Any of that make sense?

Sure, to you Halo might be precision first. But, considering that the protagonist's iconic weapon has always been an AR and every halo game ever has had AR starts tells me precision is important but not necessarily "first"

I think it's important they discuss a timeframe because I'm sure that's what everyone is wondering. They could benefit from PR explaining data gathering to improve Arena BTB on these large maps. See what weapons people are using where, what vehicles are too dominant on what maps, so many things. Give us time to thoroughly check out Warzone, then bam, make an event out of Arena BTB.

It may be a given, but they need to explain it in a positive manner, otherwise fans may just see it as something unnecessarily being taken away from them. PR, breh.

Sorry, that post could have been confusing. When I said "precision first" I didn't mean precision weapons (even though I mentioned having more precision weapons as well). I meant the general definition of precision. Precision in the sense of repeated accuracy over time on target, accuracy in the sense of how close you are to the target each shot. Halo of course is about accuracy as well, as accuracy is necessary for precision, but in contrast to a game like Counterstrike where each shot is death dealing, Halo gameplay was designed around target persistence over time, rather than better immediate twitch accuracy.

I would be fine with that immediate accuracy if it were difficult to aim like some twitch based shooters, but with the lack of recoil Breakout resembles the feel of COD way more than it does Counterstrike. One takes skill, the other not near as much.

I think a lot of the banter and worry about the mode would be quieted if some of the perks were explained/revealed. Not that I really care, but it's odd to see this stuff first in preorder information instead of from you all.

Or maybe I'm derping and you have already talked about it.

A concern of mine is with the bosses. It seems they give you a significant amount of "victory points", which leads me to believe stealing a boss kill that you did not work for would be quite easy or random. If the other team is taking its health down and I spin around and shoot it once and kill it...would that not be a problem?

Makes perfect sense. I was speaking more generally there, meaning I didn't necessarily like all that in TitanFall or others games either. I mean I'm sure I'll enjoy it, maybe even love it. But I don't think it would ever be a substitute for good ole fashioned BTB for me. Maybe using p2w wasn't necessarily the right term there. It's inevitable I'll end up paying for something. I said I wouldn't buy any premium packs for mass effect 3 and I probably spent more than the cost of the game buying some later.

And BTB is a consequence of schedule rather than a sacrifice to Warzone. If you could see how intricate and interdependent a AAA game production schedule is, you'd see that you can't just move one thing for another. And BTB is its own beast , with dedicated maps, rather than subsets or expansions of existing ones.

It's why I love the Sprints and can't wait to see more. The first episodes showed us just how much work it took between the art and multi-player team just to decide about what to do for something in the middle of the map that goes unnoticed by most players, but pro players could bounce grenades off of etc. Last part sounds great, BTB having dedicated maps etc.

It's too bad we never got to play. I'd have wanted to test how I played against you, Ram, ex-wife and all the other semi-pro players. At the lower ranks, it's very easy to win or be top performer. I always felt I was ranked too low. Only against semi-pro, onyx, even gold would I have gotten a good idea of whether I'm garbage tier BK or still decent.

I was going to comment on the Smart Scopes feeling cheap when they force the weapon under the reticle, seems I messed up and combined the quotes lol. The Magnum Smart Scope is still abysmal, but I actually like what they did with the AR and SAW instead of forcing it to be directly under.

Tis a great question. If they are able to pull off 12v12 in a setting like Warzone with AI running about, I would be surprised to hear that they can't do 12v12 in BTB.

However, as Stinkles and Josh said, the maps are being specifically designed with BTB in mind so I'm sure they already have a player count they are focusing on. Unless the maps are significantly bigger I would actually prefer 8v8.

In general I agree...Holding the carbine underneath your chin in order to see above it seems REALLY odd. The magnum isn't as bad, but it's still pretty small. I think maybe that's a balancing issue honestly. If the visibility was as easy as a BR or DMR then perhaps the magnum would be over used (I doubt it)?

It's just odd that they are including an ADS feature, but implementing it so inconsistently. The DRM and Sniper have pretty "traditional" scope-in minus some visibility. The AR is an almost old school Goldeneye screen zoom, and the pistol is basically a COD ADS animation. Seems like a peculiar design choice.

I'm probably going to buy the Taken King retail release. Better late than never to see what everyone has literally spent hundreds of hours grinding away at. I just hope that with the new release there is an influx of players willing to still run VoG, Crota etc.

So do we have any confirmation either way on Firefight or Spartan Ops.

Auxiliary "PvE" stuff is always a big favorite for me in Halo and with Warzone I have a bad feeling that those things may have been removed. I hope I'm wrong.

Warzone seems like a tonne of fun really but I have doubts until I play it and I don't think it's going to fill my Co-Op but not campaign desires that Firefight and Spartan Ops did.

Yeah, I'm fairly certain they're gone.

A few pages back, someone asked if Warzone was taking the place of Firefight/Spartan ops and Frank said it was safe to assume that.
