On a serious note, I can't remember an actual completely negative feedback on Cragmire, although I'm (also on a serious note) aware of it's faults.

The map I got the most shit, death / hacking threats etc over was Uncongealed.

T3: Halo 4 Preview

There's no great change in visuals from Halo: Reach particularly. It's become fairly common knowledge that developers have stretched both the Xbox 360 and the PS3 to their maximum capabilities now, and that's been the case for nearly a year now. That said, the levels are well designed, with a real emphasis on anti-linearity, and there are some really beautiful vistas on show.

Most importantly, despite the fact that the build we were playing was incomplete, the frame-rate was excellent even during intense firefights and there was nothing in the way of screen tearing or graphical glitches. All in all, very impressive.

I don't really care. I just want something like Halo 3 ranked Team Slayer. The MLG folks will always do their own thing and play it all day everyday until they master it. Don't get me wrong, it's fun to watch. I just want something competitive for the regular folks that's as close to vanilla as possible without all the random stuff.

Would be great to see a Team Hardcore playlist.

Anyone remember when GAF stopped censoring curse words a few years ago? People went nuts, posting curses flagrantly and carelessly. And it was hilarious. This is like that, but fucked up and not funny. Seeing EviLore instigate is really disheartening. But, while I strongly disagree with his analysis, it's his website, and I'm powerless to challenge him. So, I guess I'll just stay out of the off topic forum, and bite my tongue even more than I already do. EviLore is making it pretty clear that when it comes to bigoted slurs, the scales are tilted in favor of the people using the slurs. I appreciate his call for civility, but that's not what this new policy - nor his behavior - actually encourages. It once again places an unfair burden on people who are offended, hurt, or even attacked. It's okay to make a rape joke that is triggering / hurtful / maddening, but it's not okay to be "uncivil" when calling someone out on making rape jokes. What the fuck. Context matters, yes, but now people can get away with "lol jk don't be so sensy" even more than they already do. There's already a palpable energy of arrogance and hostility spreading through the forum. I'll be sticking exclusively to the Halo threads even more now. At least I know and like the people I consider to be assholes in this thread.

I'm thinking along the same lines. Not really expecting a true 1-50 ranking system, even if I would welcome it with open arms. I think it will be something much closer to Reach's system. However, I probably wont care as long as Halo 4 empowers the individual more than what Reach did. I can't handle another Halo where giong into matchmaking solo with randoms is basically suicide. I should have some ability to defend myself against a grouped up team of four.

Why would you have Promethean vision on in a mode with no motion tracker, unless it was something you chose? It's not going to happen by accident, players will make choices. A mode with no motion tracker would likely be MLG style, or some Flood variant. Players would be bound by those rules. You use your custom loadouts in modes that permit those custom loadouts.

Right, I think it will be closer to Reach's system as well but much more fleshed out. We'll be able to get progression points from everywhere for doing a ton of shit. I also agree that matchmaking needs to do a better job of matching randoms vs randoms and teams vs teams. It really makes a difference in the overall experience. I believe that the quit ban needs to be tweaked from Reach. I was hit with the ban like 3 times in the past 2 days because it carried over for more than 24hrs. Each time I signed in I was hit with the thin ice message. I think if the teams are uneven because a player lagged out on either team or whatever, the quit ban should not be put into effect. If I quit, I had to wait for the ban to be lifted. If I didn't quit, I had to sit through the uneven shitty host match. Neither are fun.

I think it's also important to remember that matches can last up to 15 minutes and that the quality of that experience is much more important than the quality of the experience of finding the match.

Are you saying that Promethean vision is clearly wonky for non-radar modes and that it would make no sense for it to be available in a custom gametype or specific non-radar playlist?

edit: And to answer the question why. Because I would like to play the game with everything available. All armor mods, all armor abilities. At least in this stage of my play time with the game which is 0. I'm remaining open to trying everything. The problem is that I hate radar.
