Halo |OT12| Last One Out, Get the Lights

CoD has an awesome feature that I wish Halo copied - When you just kill someone you can hear them for a few seconds. So funny hearing "argh you bast..." just after I take someone out lol.

Come to speak of it, did they remove pre-game voice chat and in game proximity voice for opponents in Halo 4? I have never seen other people talk in lobbies or in game unless they are on my team.

Is anyone on right now? I want to test my attempt at a classic setting. Only works on Haven, because good lord is Forge fucked up on every map.

Thoughts on today's developments:
  • DLC pack trailer and screens mean nothing until it's in our hands.
  • DLC pack maps look nothing like their concept art and look much less ambitious and boring artistically. Very disappointing. Hype for Monolith depleting.
  • Extraction as a DLC-only playlist is weird. I wanted to try it on existing maps too.
  • Team Regicide is pretty much VIP EX. Cool idea and gametype, probably won't play it much though.
 
I really wish they would've introduced a flashbang grenade into Halo 4. I think it would really help in clearing out bases, particularly in Dominion. I can't tell you how many times I've snuck into a base onto to be killed by a crouching rocket player or a camo'd player. Being able to blind others would be an interesting mechanic in Halo 4, as long as its executed better than the Flare from Halo 3. I still don't know what Bungie was thinking with that. There was no way NOT to blind yourself when your threw it, which was a strange decision.

I've brought this up over and over since MW3 did it. It's amazing and I'm glad it's still in. At least some devs aren't cutting features. Ad yeah I think proximity chat is gone too in halo 4.

This is the first time in the history of Halo multiplayer that I have no interest in checking out what's in the map pack.

I may not even buy the map pack.

I definitely won't buy the map pack, which is strange after I shelled out a few pounds for 2,000 points in early November. Then I bought the final episode of the Walking Dead instead, once I'd sampled Halo 4. I've got 1,600 points that can be better spent elsewhere, perhaps on future map packs if the game's been radically altered to make it in some way competitive, and if future map packs offer symmetrical, arena maps with a focus on small player counts that aren't brown and don't feature vehicles.

Just went 31-21-12. Two team mates had 40 and 45 kills. Still a close game. I love getting lots of kills and no objective points.

Seriously, that map has got to be the most visually appealing in the whole series. The huge satellite dishes, sunset environment, clean look.

God damn, the Infinity can replicate any environment, but it chooses mountains and shit? Where the fuck are the unique environments?!

We need more forerunner maps that actually use Requiems full advantages. Seriously, you can add amazing scenery and structures to give the map live and uniqueness, but then they just choose Big Team Battle Adrift with fog and blur, and then just a bunch of rubble from some ship, because the new maps honestly look insanely dull. That concept art comment I saw really just showed that.

Couldn't even make a tin I'd like.

I ended up cancelling my LE literally the day before launch, because Amazon had problems charging my card (inexplicably), and when I sorted it the delivery estimate was the following week. So I opted to save £30, buy the standard from somewhere else, and buy a 2,000 point card on the cheap. Did that, got everything for under £50, played the game, and realised I didn't want the season pass. I genuinely feel relieved now.

I ran through both of these the other day.

Station 9 is very dark everywhere an the entire map is literally hallways. Not only is it ugly, but I would be shocked if it played well.
Lotus appears to be what a lot of Forge maps suffer from, interesting layout, but sooo many forge pieces.
343 would never approve such a sensible weapon layout on that map.
So John Howard, lead designer of Halo CE and Shadowrun is back at Microsoft as a creative director for something unknown. He's been there since September, hopefully he joined 343 to save Halo multiplayer.

Hell, just cut back on the power weapons by 75% in dominion, add one more player per team, and I'm happy.
Dominion is such a great idea (territories on steroids), but as it stands, it's a fiesta gametype.
Cant even make two steps without being incinerated with a binary rifle or incendiary cannon.

+1, let the 5 or 6 resupply base get the power weapons instead.

I thought they said they will never use campaign assets on MM maps, none of the incoming maps are original in any form just reused assets from campaign and other multiplayer maps.

I wish 343 had gone with this for the final version of the game instead of what we got.

They probably didnt to acomodate USB stick players, I know my UI already gets choppy enough.

What ever happened to the insignias too, there were vids around PAX that had em.

Okay, not gonna lie, Harvest actually looks kind of cool. Gettin' some Headlong vibes.

I would not get your hopes up. Not saying it won't be good but if the verticality makes it play like anything it'll be Complex from what I can see.

I was talking to a friend and he was lamenting the fact that although there are a ton of BTB maps in Halo 4, none of them are very conducive to vehicle combat. There are very few wide open spaces ala Valhalla, Standoff, Sandtrap, Avalanche etc in which to maneuver - the maps (other than Ragnarock obviously) all have very limited pathways for driving, making it easy to predict where the vehicles go and how to take them out (with the plethora of power weapons).

It would be kinda like admitting they were wrong, which as we all know from the Squad Slayer debacle, they don't want to do.

That's actually an excellent way of describing it, but ordnance is my Jar Jar, and instant respawn is my vader nooooooo.

And the comparison deepens when you factor in that I'm not a big Star Wars fan and thus didn't find the prequels that offensive. But, ultimately, the Star Wars brand suffers because people like me (the best case scenario), don't really give a shit and won't hold the franchise in much regard, regardless.

He's right. Exile is just a driving circle, Vortex is ROXROXROX, Meltdown is just an infinity symbol.

Man, looking back, bungie's environment artists were fucking amazing.

But seriously, Team Regicide could actually be a good thing. The team aspect of it will completely change how it's played. Maybe it will involve setting up around your king and trying to get him kills while going after the other king.
 
I joined in progress into a game which had 4 points left before it was over. A few seconds after I joined it went black screen

I would have spent more time in black screen than playing if I didn't immediately dashboard and go play CoD.

My first game of CoD starts me in the lobby so I can play a fresh match.

I really can't believe CoD is out doing halo at simple stuff like that. That said no doubt JiP will annoy me on CoD sooner rather than later lol.
