Can we please stop using the term 'fun' as the opposite of 'competitive'?I mean there is a place for fun gametypes, but they should not be the main aspect of the game.
There you go.I saw your tweet, but I did not, unfortunately.
Heh.Can we please stop using the term 'fun' as the opposite of 'competitive'?
But Infinity modes are meant to be fun modeCan we please stop using the term 'fun' as the opposite of 'competitive'?
Competitive gametypes are 'fun' for some people, casual gametypes are 'fun' for other people. It makes no sense to describe either of the two as 'fun', especially because indirectly calling the other type 'not fun' is dumb.Heh.
But in some ways they do seem counter each other. I see the dynamic and ordnance stuff as being about your enjoyment in the moment, personal score or team victory be damned. Competitive is for those who are all about the win and personal stats, striving to better their ranking.
The competitive guys want to strip out the dynamic stuff, which makes for a drier but more balanced match.
At least that's how it looks from comments here and on other forums.
Heh.

Oh okay, good.Infinity CTF is not in Doubles. Unless they snuck that shit in. Also, Doubles has Slayer Pro.
Spartan Ops ProBut where's the radar?
Diet pro mode.beer and pretzels mode
Spartan Ops Pro
Hasn't it been in that half-implemented state since launch?I mentioned this the other day, but scoring is in SpOps now, if you look at the post game carnage report it lists all your medals along with how many points they're worth. It also lists your "biggest kill" along with a points value.
That Spartan Ops video is painful to watch. Has anyone actually thought when watching the first SpOps cutscene: "Well that is where my Spartan suits up before I enter the War Games!"? This video really highlights the disconnect between any negative feedback and 343i. I didn't write an essay on Spartan Ops because I liked it. I wrote it because there are problems, because there are sections when I set my controller down and shut off my Xbox in frustration. I'm really, really disappointed with 343i.
Yea, not like they're selling millions.
here.Where's that from?
Well yeah, its part of the fiction. That Spartan Ops video is painful to watch. Has anyone actually thought when watching the first SpOps cutscene: "Well that is where my Spartan suits up before I enter the War Games!"?
I saw Chris Haluke tweeting about it: "Gamespot: Spartan Ops and the Future of Halo's episodic content"
Goddamnit I will have some pretty awful rage rants like I had wtih Reach's grenades. CTF Playlist won't be touched anymore because of it. Sigh.
Yea, not like they're selling millions.
My response was serious. Buttons have disappeared from multiplayer where they used to be important and could change they way you approached an engagement. In return they've taken over all campaign modes as the main objective and story-continuing action. My question was more about whether or not classic Halo is possible with Halo 4. Is it just a handful of settings that prevents it from being classic?
I thought the second half of this season was fantastic? Even people that disliked the first half liked it.
(I need to play through it still)
Well yeah, its part of the fiction.
Yep and Sony hasn't announced that much new IP's either. 4 new IP's are enough and there will hopefully be some more, when the next gen consoles are getting released.
Enemy composition has gotten much better. There's still fuel rod enemies, but less of them at one time, and more often its grunts carrying them, which makes things easier to handle solo. Throw in a lot more rifle wielding elites and jackals, and more vehicles (ghosts and banshees) and you've got the makings for some really interesting encounters. There's alos a lot more ammo on hand, and even some AAs to equip.Being better than the first half of the season isn't exactly saying much. There's still a ton of issues involving waypoints, enemy composition, enemy behaviors(although I know this can't be helped at this point, it'd still be smart to lessen what is inherently bad), mission flow, and environment reuse(although it's not as prominent as the first half).
Actually yes, but I'm probably an odd man out here as I've always wanted more Halo fiction in the multiplayer. Infinity housing all of the multiplayer and being the central focus of Spartan Ops seemed like a good move.I get that much. But the first time you watched it, did that thought come into your mind?
because they are all Kinect based.
People complain about not enough new IP's on Xbox
Microsoft announces 4 new IP's

This cycle is sacred and true.

Couldn't agree more, with all of this.I guess what I'm trying to say is, I wouldn't have even considered buying a second season if it had continued the way 1-5 had gone. Now, even just playing episodes 6 and 7, I'm definitely going to buy in in the future, so long as they can prove the rest of the season is up to that standard at the minimum. They really felt that much better to me. They're learning.
I'd love for single-player/co-op expansion packs to become standard. It's been something missing from Halo forever, save for the couple Firefight maps added in the Reach DLC (though the mode just wasn't very good compared to ODST, imo).
I like the thread that talks about 4 New IPs from Microsoft.
It's all about Kinect...
because they are all Kinect based.
I dunno. There are certainly parts that could be improved, but as a stand alone mode, the second half of the season actually feels like what they hyped SpOps to be. Sort of 15 minute campaigns. The first half of the season (for the most part) felt like babby's first Halo mode. It wasn't sure if it was campaign, or Firefight, or co-op. It was just a mess of ten thousand grunts and elites with fuel rod cannons and waypoints.
It's a lot better, there are interesting battles, and the environments and progression actually feel like campaign missions, and in some cases, look better than any environments we got in campaign. The missions just feel tighter, and more deliberate than before.

But... but... but... what about all them 20,000 human years of play time?Throwing waves of Needler Jackals just forces the player into cover and retreat from combat, just based on the weapon they are holding. It's generally fine if one or two enemies have it, but any more and it just becomes frustrating. And with them being Jackals, the can fight back with more ease relative to the player. Sending in a wave of Crawlers has never been fun, and having them spawn in right in front of the player is even worse. Fighting hoards of Knights isn't fun.
6.1, 6.2, the giant cavern of 6.3, and sections of Infinity were moderately fun.
Educated guess
Its the part right after you press the buttonIs that the part where Cortana upgrades your firmware so you can use active camo because that's the only thing I remember from the campaign so far.
Watercooler moments? Sure, it has that. Mainly telling other people how terrible Spartan Ops is.
