Tried Planetside 2, too many bugs that ruin balance and never been a fan of the F2P model. Going to try Hawken and Red Orchestra though
I'm impressed on how many times he was outgunned with an instant kill weapon. That's a whole new set of skill.

How can facts be rose tinted? Players couldn't see through walls in Halo 3, split screen did work and MLG Halo thrived. When Sundance spoke up after his company dropped Reach he didn't lament the rise of COD or blame industry trends; he explicitly laid the blame for the games mainstage failure at the door of the game itself. "In a lot of ways Bungie left us with a game that's a disservice to the franchise" I believe were his words.
The best focus on their own game, not their opponents. In football you'll commonly hear managers say 'If we go there and play our own game we'll be alright. We can't show them too much respect'. The crux of my post was that Halo has focused too much on the popularity of COD and so called 'changing habits of players' rather than doubling down on its own strengths and vision. Halo 4 in particular shows so much respect for COD it's basically deferential.
As for getting over its absence, it's done. I said I'd withhold on properly judging 343 until after they'd released their first full game; I actually think they've done ok with the game. Many players compliment the gunplay and movement and I think they're a marked improvement over Reach. Thruster Pack is an addition which I welcome wholeheartedly, I think it's implemented and tuned just right. However, as Juices' and others have pointed out, the sandbox and regulated flow of traditional Halo matches isn't shining in Halo 4 because of 343's over focus on changing habits from players and external industry factors. That focus brought us the game stifling loadout system that produces the nonsense of plasma pistol starts in BTB. It also brought instant respawns and killstreaks in Halo. Obviously stuff like fileshares not working is inexcusable from a studio that apparently is made up of the cream of the crop of the industry. I'm still quite optimistic about the TU though. 343 did a good job of improving Reach (not in its playlist implementation however) but will they be as brave with their own game as they were with Bungie's? They'll have to be if they want to recapture the confidence of a large swathe of Halo's long term fans.
Basically they should focus hard on making the next Midship, Lockout or Pit instead of spending their time cooking up 'cool' armour abilities like X ray specs and sprint with Camo on spawn.

I feel the same exact way. I tried playing Halo 3 the other night, played a couple matches and just shut it off. Wasn't having fun at all, had no drive to keep playing. I might be burnt out on FPS genre.

Indeed, this generation i can count the games ive spent more than a year on on one hand. Last gen it was a fuck ton that i played for eons. Some cases its me, others its the games.

How to play ONLY your favorite maps. (Or how to avoid shitty maps)
1. Pick playlist and head into matchmaking if you get the "incoming players" wait for the map voting screen to show up
2. If your desired map is not one of the options hit 'B' to back out
3. If your desired map IS one the options, observe how the voting shakes out and if your map isn't winning back out BEFORE the 5 Sec Timer is finished counting down
a) MOST IMPORTANT: Hold off casting your vote until the countdown has started (because when you vote your locked in). If the timer is about to conclude and your vote can be the
decider then you cast it. If it can't make a difference back out.
4. If you get JIP (where players automatically show up) and there is no voting screen. Quickly press start, navigate to 'Settings and Files' then to 'NETWORK' then hit 'My Xbox 360'. It will throw you back into the lobby. Change it back to 'XBOX LIVE' in order to re-enter matchmaking (credit whoever posted/figured this out)
5. Repeat process until desired results.

Speaking of, I wanna get a party together to boost those Crimson DLC achievements before they take away the playlist and we never see the maps in MM again.

I just tried Infinity BTB for the first time since November, and every map had significant frame drops. Pretty graphics ain't worth it.

I ran into the same last night, but it was unusual and sporadic. Serious drops from Banshee spawn on Exile to the back hills in Vortex. Dunno what was up.
Lagnarok though? I'd say I get lag and slowdown 80% of the time and it seems to have only gotten worse over these past few months.

I play BTB quite frequently and I don't experience many frame rate drops at all. The only game mode where I get frame rate drops is dominion, and I'll assume that's only because of all the automated turrets, ordinance drops, vehicles, and inevitable explosions.
I can't get any good pictures. Do you have any?

Never have gotten a quit ban. Also BTB is Exile 85% and everything else splits the remaining 15%.

Alright weird question. I don't know if it is just my monitor calibration but has anyone noticed that some of the guns in Halo 4, like the Railgun, have weird coloring artifacts on them? Like you can see weird greens and blues and other rainbow colors on the gun?
I never thought about them disappearing, I forgot for a moment they do that in Halo..
