Well you have to be realistic about it all. HaloGAF is just a fraction of all feedback 343 gets. And feedback includes forum posts, tweets, articles, videos, podcasts, live streams and then data they get in game. And just because they see it, that doesn't mean they will or even can act on it. Also, these things don't happen overnight.

And if when Halo 5 is announced and 343 says, "we listened to all the feedback and here's Halo 5" and it's actually based on the feedback that was gathered, then what?

343 chooses what kind of feedback they want to listen to. When Josh Holmes said, "Halo is very hardcore game" and talked about the "steep learning curve," who were 343 listening to? There's no way in hell a sizable group of people actually complained about that. First of all, Halo is by far one of the easiest multiplayer fps games to pick up and play ever, and second of all, even if it did have a difficult learning curve, why would that be a bad thing? Do people not want to play a game with a steep learning curve? If so, then why the fuck is LoL the most played game in the world right now? It feels like they picked up random people from the street to test the game and provide feedback.

So there's that issue. Another issue is what to do given the right feedback -- step two. Let's take for example the BR spread in Halo 3. I guess there was an issue of people getting owned across the map in H2 BTB. Bungie tried to fix this issue by implementing the notorious BR spread, but all they had to do was lower the aim assist. We had to deal with that shit for three years.

So not only do they have to listen to feedback for H5 to succeed, they also have to prioritize the most common complaints and deal with those issues based on what's worked in Halo and what hasn't.
