Halo |OT4| Trust's a Tough Thing to Come by These Days

i took specializations to mean things like;

-assualt
-recon
-CQC
etc.

You pick a specialization and get xp bonus for doing related specialization things (ie, CQC kills for CQC specialization) and can also rank up the specialization class itself.

I hope you're right.

But didn't someone, not sure if it was Frankie/Ellis or Wu/whoever played Halo 4, said they were stuff like increased shield recharge.

Reposting from the gaming side thread:

Stuff I like:

  • Just one LE. I'm glad they focused on just one additional package, not the tiered editions of Halo 3 and Reach.
  • The price. Halo 3 and especially Reach really pushed the price on the Legendary edition. $100 is more reasonable as an upper bound.
  • The map pack inclusion. Assuming the three map packs are $10, as has been standard for Halo map packs for a while, that's $30 right there. Basically a season pass model.
  • The packaging. Looks very nice - is that a steel book?
  • Briefing packet; sounds neat.

Stuff I'm disappointed in:

  • Lack of behind the scenes documentary. Really a big miss, I loved the Halo 2 doc and have been hoping for something like it on subsequent Halo releases. Alas.
  • Apparently all the bonus materials are digital; I really wanted a DVD bonus disc.
  • All this crap: "unique in-game Spartan-IV armor skin, unique in-game weapon skin for the Assault Rifle, an exclusive in-game emblem, Xbox LIVE Avatar prop, and Xbox LIVE Avatar Spartan IV armor set." I don't value any of that stuff, at all. It's fluff to add "value" to the package but it's really a bunch of nothing.
  • Early access to perks specializations. Bad, bad form here.

Will buy.

I'm disappointed in the emphasis shift to digital content. I miss bonus DVDs and materials such as story boards, concept art, behind the scenes docs, etc. I really don't value most of the digital content, and was really hoping Forward Unto Dawn would be a DVD I could play where I wished. Still, the packaging is nice and the price is reasonable.

Is that a steelbook?

Yeah I really hope that stanard edition boxart is included somewhere in the LE.

Or include the entire box in the LE, for dem racks. Except they already show the other version.

That sounds nice, in theory. Pick a set of skills they fit your playstyle and there's a little incentive to stick to it. If all the abilities are fun and not game/sandbox breaking like Reach's jetpack fucking up map design or armor lock slowing the game down, that could be a fun addition to the game. It all depends on what these specializations are and how they enhance the depth of the game, instead of detracting from the flow of Halo multiplayer.

Goodbye cruel world.

Some more:

Fatal Feedback: When enemies attack you, their screen flashes between transparent red and transparent blue.

Spartyrdom: Before death, you have 5 seconds of invincibility before your armor self destructs and destroys everything in a 50 feet radius. For balance reason, you won't be able to shoot or use any armor abilities while in invincibility.

Thermopylae: The more outnumbered you are in a firefight, the stronger your shields and attacks get.

No making of hurts this and I'm gonna miss that beautiful boxart. Damn! Not a bad LE but was expecting a bit more on the actual to goodness stuff I can touch side.

I hate being bracketed into those play styles.
I'd rather be a super soldier that does everything.
That is why I play Halo.

An AA for Campaign that would be nice:

Halo: Attach this to an enemy's head and they join your side, fighting against their own kind

From the picture it looks like it. I tweeted that question to BS Angel. It's strange that something like that wasn't mentioned in the Bulletin.

Ellis said this on twitter: "The disc and case in the limited edition have sweet custom art."

It will not include the classic lime case in it. I'll just get one off ebay or something after because I'm OCD with having it match the rest of my collection.

But you do everything AND MORE! So you're like a ULTRA Super Soldier!

But I totally get what you mean. Starting off on equal ground is pretty core to the Halo experience.

Either way, I'm eager to hear more about these abilities, playlists, maps, etc, and the good thing we don't have a whole lot longer to wait. I'm willingly to give them a shot, and if they suck, we can shit on it for years like I do with Halo Reach, and run off to our classic playlist. And if they don't suck then uh...good job!

I'm the same, lol.

Anyone know if there's a standalone release of Halo 4: Forward Until Dawn planned like with Halo: Legends?

I'd rather they reveal stuff at a moment where they can go into detail about it.
Now stop being an annoying smart-ass.

How can one drum up hype, discussion, speculation or excitement if one simply explains everything right away? I suspect you already know how the industry and marketing works in a general way so pardon me for calling out how bothered you are for something so trivial.

Where's best to pre-order from for a potentially early delivery? Game used to be good for it but they're obviously not an option now...

Pretty damn happy with how the LE sounds. I'm a sucker for customisation so weapon skins don't bother me at all, looking forward to seeing what they do with them. Too bad I won't be seeing that AR skin much, as I'll be using a different weapon I'm sure.

A sparkast before E3 (aswell as one after) would be great ‹3 haha. I need info to tide me over until we get more info. Infact, a surprise May 17th Halo 4 release just here in Ireland would be super thanks!

343 has my money already.

Because its Halo.

But I'm really worried. Everything they've revealed about the changes to multiplayer... There's not going to be a public beta, so I can't gauge the changes anywhere.

Only thing I'm gonna have to go on is E3 information. Which better deliver details on all this shit.

E3 is the best bet. It's a way to get out a great deal of information to multiple outlets. I'm expecting to see at least part of a team slayer game with changes implemented.
