Well then you've got a lot of zen in you...but you're probably right, someone standing there and shooting your head after you're dead is a lot more provoking than a repetitive assassination.

Getting assassinated is no worse than getting back smacked, both are equally annoying given the context of how it can happen. But if the animation itself is a moral killer for anyone, then thats something I will never understand.

I don't mean annoying as in I don't like them in the game, I mean as in how you get caught out by them with your own actions as a player

Ok I have a bog-standard Comcast sub and I've never faced the lag you guys talked about in any of the Halo games. Doing Endure was tricky because every once in a while someone DCs and stops the entire game, but doing it with British and EU chaps for the score achievements resulted in no problems.

Reach I have maybe 1 noticeably laggy game out of 5 games, and only a small percentage of them are unplayable. Campaign usually results in the lagged dropping five minutes in; I'd say the chance of a laggy game is slightly higher than FF for me but not by much ( I don't play it as often because bad players are more dangerous.)

CEA is usually find except again ODST-like sudden drops on occasion. Haven't played since the beginning of the year though so not sure if that changed.

I think you guys are blaming Bungie for stuff outside of their control. If someone's router is by their metal fridge and their NAT is closed, there's nothing they can do. Most people are idiots when it comes to networks.

Either way, your network woes are not necessarily the norm any more than my experienced are; it's entirely subjective,

You know I honestly don't get it either. The only times I've ever had lag issues, disconnects, etc was when my ISP was going down the crapper. It of course has times it does that. Usually it's every 4 months for a week or two. However regularly I have none of these issues everyone else seems to have daily.

Seriously, what's the big deal with yoinks? I mean, we used to have someone post here who was proud of the fact that he betrayed teammates who yoinked kills from him... so fucking what?

YOUR TEAM STILL WINS. What difference does it make if you don't get the kill? Does it happen to you multiple times a game? (If it does, I guess that's a problem... but I think for most of us, we're talking a couple of percent of total kills, if that. So what?)

This is a serious question. I simply cannot understand why it makes people so angry.

I'm with you. Honestly I don't give a damn if someone yoinks me as long as we get the kill. One reason my KD is so low is that I have no problem letting others get the kill or just helping out by being a driver on a vehicle. It's all good as long as it's for the team I think.

In my perfect world, Halo 2 Anny launches with the 720, although if it's not going to have online functionality, I wish they wouldn't bother.

Dude I'd kill for the campaign to be given the Anniversary treatment. More so with the way the original runs on the 360 in BC. So I say bring that shit on.

Best part of that video has to be Bravo going over to Franklez and saying, "I wanna see what this man is doing," and then Frankie's just kind of walking around aimlessly.

Radar is a crutch. I hope there will be stock playlists without it...

Seconded. Playing pro variants is my favorite gametype that comes up in Reach. Natural selection tells me to learn situational awareness or die trying.

Also, SWAT. Can we get a tiny, insignificant, baby hint if SWAT will be making an appearance?

Although I love radar, I do vote for Slayer Pro a lot because it's hilarious how easy you can just run around the map taking people out in regular team slayer. So many assassinations. I don't have to worry about crouch walking around the map.

I was actually just thinking how overpowered Promethean Vision would be if there no radar. Kinda bonkers. But I guess it's all still being tweaked so we'll see.

Although I see what Kyle is saying about how Adrift has a lot of aesthetic pieces everywhere, I don't find that they inhibit gameplay a whole lot from the videos. I'm actually warming up to the map the more I see it played. It helped to see some good players in that video who know what they are doing. Gave me a better sense of the map.

EDIT: Whoever is playing around the 14-15 minute mark is doing very well. Fun to watch.

What I'd like to see is a notification both when your opponent activates promethean vision, and when he DEactivates it. So a higher tone for when it's activated, and a lower tone for when it's deactivated.

I feel this would allow you to kind of fake out your opponent.

I can't imagine how embarrassing it would be for everyone involved if there was a match without aim assist.

I actually know people who play console shooters fine without it. On top of that, sometimes aim assist can be detrimental as it pulls you from your initial target to another without you wanting it.

Jesus.
Wait, that's the lobby screen and not the post game carnage screen?

Wow.

Ah, I remember that. I didn't put much stock in the phrasing, myself. (Frankie chastised me a while back when I said I expected a two-year cadence.). I'd love to see a three year spacing, and that is my hope. I just haven't seen much indication that a two year is coming, though I wouldn't be surprised.
Interesting enough though, that was in 2010, a couple months before the release of Reach, and now we are getting Halo 4 two years after Reach. Personally, I think a two years release cycle is all but confirmed, I would be shocked to not see Halo 5 in 2014.
It all depends on the 720 launch, if it's really going to hit retail at the end of next year or the year after.

There's won't be a Halo title for launch, for sure, put down GOW4 for that, but you will see Halo 5 the following year at the very least, similar to the 360 window with Gears and Halo.

Heck, if it wasn't for Kinect, I'm also sure we'd be playing Halo 4 as a launch title for the 720 this November.
How are we going to see Gears 4? Epic is working on a new IP right now (Fortnite), and their People Can Fly studio is working on a Gears game right now that will come out in March of next year. I don't see how we get another Gears game for the launch of the new Xbox.
I get you, but to be fair we still have no idea the H4 matchmaking screen looks the same.
There's no way it doesn't share at least very similar traits. That would be UI suicide to have your different lobbies look wildly different.

It's nice to want things lol. Several packages (perks) impact your radar in some way, so I doubt we are going to see many radar-less gametypes in stock matchmaking.

Awesome video overall. Whoever that was for 343 playing from about 14:00 to the end of game 2 was very fun to watch. The video overall helped me get a better feel for the game as it was much more competitive.

Crazy how OP the x-ray vision is. The one guy grabs rocks, taps on the x-ray vision, immediately sees exactly where the other team is through a wall and uses it to get a double kill.

There's only 2 things its good for.

1. It shows you where enemies are just a bit out of radar range (I actually don't know how far it detects)
2. It allows you to line up a shot before rounding a corner.

Powerful? Maybe. But I personally would rather have a jetpack or thrusters.

Sprint + Jetpack? Say goodbye to map design.

Buy this and DLC as it comes out, it will be cheaper that way. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=482515

Then buy this for the space for DLC you needhttp://www.amazon.com/dp/B004TS1J1I/?tag=neogaf0e-20

now quit bitching

Halo 4 is 60 bucks. Comes with 3 free DLC's right? 90 bucks. Plus early specilizations and other LE swag. I'm definitely getting the LE.

I already got the cheapo sandisk from Cyclones link. But Its pretty much gonna be used for Halo 4 and maybe some arcade games/demos. I need both USB ports for mic charging and controller charging. It's just a small hassle, but definitely beats buying a hard drive for them prices.

I'm thinking, unless I stumble upon some nice amount of money, I'm going to use USB's (and hopefully not lose them) until the Nextbox comes out.

You have a launch xbox, right? Do you not have a USB port at the back?

lol @ Frankie bowing out: "I've got do an interview."

This whole exchange is great:
Bravo: "We're winning, actually. We're actually winning."
Nexy: "By two kills." *shakes head* "Bravo, how long have you been playing Halo?"
Bravo: "Halo 4? Probably more than anyone else besides 343."
Nexy: "You know how many forum posts the team over there has? A trillion."
Bravo: "Way more than we do."

That video was great. Good show on both HaloGAF and 343. Can't wait to see Part II.

Man, I hope I can scrounge up enough money to go to an event like this sometime in the near future. That'd be so much fun. Of course, if something could happen in Raleigh or Wilmington, that'd be cool too.

with the maps I've seen so far I have yet to see how the Jetpack is going to break any of these maps shown, with the updated player movement you are putting your self at risk if you have one on, plus with the DMR/BR starts you will be dead before you know it. I'm sure they are designing the maps with sprint in mind as well.

Usually if I do an assassination, it means I took the time to sneak up on the guy. It's not the number associated with the kill I care about, it's the satisfaction of it.

There's an implicit risk/reward with assassinations in Reach: you get the lovely animation and medal, but risk getting killed or having your kill stolen. If you don't want to take that risk, just do the back smack.

With Halo 4 there's more of an incentive (at least, in Infinity Slayer). I'm curious whether there is an incentive in Infinity Slayer for yoinks. I'm sure sure whether it would be unfortunate or hilarious.

In objective game modes, an assasination could also prove to be more beneficial.

But on a more sirious note, why would you yoink?

For me it's a troll... particularly with friends. I rarely yoink randoms online because there is no telling how they will take it. When I'm with friends, or people from the same community, consider it poking fun.

Then there's a real note of animating in a very competitive game takes you out of the game for 3-ish seconds, just to rub a kill in on the other team. So rather than an advantage of potential numbers for that three seconds, you are wasting time. It's one thing animating when you are blowing a team out for shits and giggles... but doing it in an MLG game, like CTF on Countdown where that three second window means a pull and cap, or likely getting stopped... It's silly; kill him and move on.

Or get yoinked...

You would. hahaha

But really, I don't see what 343 is doing with this lobby.

And now this?

Halo 2 pioneered a great console party/lobby system and now you are going to completely change one of the most iconic UIs ever?

This style UI has been copied many times simply because it works.

Gears of War:

This new UI looks like waypoint, which is not a good thing.

Also, sorry for all of different sizes and variations in quality of the images. They were the best I could find quickly.

Logical progression.

Same here, though being over 21 would probably help for the VIP stuffs.

I hate this mentality. If you put in shit like default sprint and a jetpack loadout it pigeonholes you into making maps that won't be OP with this stuff. Look at Beaver Creek. Classic map. Broken with Jetpacks.

Jetpack gives you an edge on almost every Reach map sans some BTB. At least in Reach it was "balanced" by the fact that you didn't have sprint. It's obnoxious.
