Halo: Reach Beta Thread

i'm expecting it to be like the brute shot
If the pro pipe can knock a warthog off course quite well I think that's great use for it, normal grenades always did a poor job at that but the brute shot really punished warthogs in halo 3, I love using it on them :P

Yup, that's the main purpose of it.

There's never been an UNSC weapon to temporarly disable vehicles, am I right?

Generic lazer post. Overpowered, nerf it, fire it into the sun. :-p

But in all seriousness, I love the Laser. And yeah, I saw the word temporary.
:lol

So what's the benefit of cooking it up then? In case you're not on target or when bouncing it off a wall to get someone hidden behind walls or something?
Yep, it makes for a nice trap (especially for Rockets). Much harder to get the timing right, and to be in a spot where you don't get attacked. It will go off on it's own if you hold it down for too long, though. I've also noticed some cooked grenades just sitting around on a rare occasion, so either it doesn't go off if you (the pro-piper) get killed or it was just a glitch. Or someone just missed me staring at a cooking grenade and didn't want to assplode me.

That's the Proton Pack from Ghostbusters.

At least, that's what I've heard it called in a few matches. One guy would even sing the theme after melting jetpack-flying goofballs. :lol

Played a game of stockpile a few days ago and I noticed after collecting what I thought were 6 flags, we won the match, but I had 0 flags collected. Played again with the same people and noticed the same thing. Turns out that there was a guy who was defending the gather point, who was picking up the flags, running out the ring, and then throwing it back in. WTF.

Yeah, it happens more often.

Bungie has said they're working on this not happening for the full release. It's a real pain in the ass.
EDIT: Beaten

is the power drain UNSC?

also, the pro pipe. am I the only one that wishes the shots didnt bounce quite so much. its a cool concept to hide one in a doorway and sit and wait but it almost never lands where you want it to.

So my bronze 2 is now on display in-game for everyone to see. Thanks, Bungle.

I've been telling people it means I'm seeded 2nd for an upcoming championship :lol

Okay this is gonna take a Wiki or something. :lol
Cooking the Professional Pipe will let you detonate your grenade whenever you choose. So if you launch one at a dude, but he strafes to avoid impact, you can detonate in midair to hit him.

You have to time it just right, and the nades are apparently made of the heaviest material on Earth
Reach
because they have a crazy arc. Many times, you won't actually kill your opponent, but their shields will be fubar so they will be easy pickings.

I played my three Arena games today and managed to scrape my way to a 1512.

I am officially outmatched in Onyx.
GOLD 4 LYFEEEE

edit: WTF, I just checked my division and I went from gold to bronze after getting 1550+ all day yesterday. come to me noobs.......

Focus Rifle needs to be nerfed. It's overpowered as it is.
Focus Rifle is overpowered but Armor Lock is balanced perfectly? Get out. Focus Rifle takes a good amount of time to get through shields and kill someone, and it has trouble following people when scoped in. Gun is a power weapon and for that it is balanced well.

Okay, someone please tell me there is something wrong with the division ratings. I was gold the last two days, played yesterday and kept my number in the upper 1500s, and this morning I'm a STEEL!

What the what?

Whenever I use the Proton Pack, it's usually just to support my team, or ripen up groups of people for a follow up nade in FFA. I'm not too great with it, but my friend is a monster with it. He pretty much yells the Ghostbusters theme into the mic when destroying people.

Hardly. It takes ages to kill anyone fully shielded with full health with it. It's balanced properly.

i agree, its balanced (as a power weapon), but it is a quick kill if you can get someone in the open that cant get to cover within a second or 2.

It's in the same class as a sniper riffle - the difference being you can't be headshot with it instantly so you stand a better chance to survive.

It's like complaining that the rockets are over powered because they kill you in one hit - the weapon works as designed and fulfils a unique role in the overall sandbox.

Plus it's fun and intimidating and thinking about it makes me hungry.

yeah, definitely.

it looks like bacon. Mmmmm.

Damn, me and all of my friends dropped from onyx to gold last night. Time to get that shit back up! I knew those low 1600 daily ratings last night would come back to haunt us:lol

Has anyone else noticed that the Plasma Pistol can actually kill people like it did in Halo CE?
In the first game you could actually use it as a last resort to fall back on in a pinch.

You don't have to hold down the trigger to get kills with it, either. That REALLY pisses people off. :lol

Hm? If you fire and then pause, you can't instantly start firing again. There is a little bit of a delay inbetween firings so you can't just pellet them with microwave beams to death.

Yes, and I've not yet figured out what I'm doing wrong or what the other people are doing right to succeed with it. :(

So I finally check out Free For All a few minutes ago, and the first match I get was Juggernaut - and I pulled stupid move and lost it by one kill after a hell of a battle to bring down the Juggernauts TWICE myself - damn it.

But then get Headhunter as my second match, and blew away the competition with a Skullomanjaro, with the second place guy having only 4 skulls dropped off - oh so good.

I knew Headhunter was the new hotness, but I've totally forgot about the FFA playlist till now, and figured that I'd get some games in there before Invasion drops in about an hour and 15 minutes from now...

I don't think it's that overpowered but they probably will nerf it.

This. I don't think it needs to be nerfed because every time I pick it up it seems to require more skill than I possess to kill someone with it. :lol
