For serious, I really only have a problem with Elites in Slayer. In vanilla Invasion, there have been times though when the Elites refuse to work together and the Spartans use the tactic of sending a few spawn campers with DMR's providing cover.Striker said:Stop running straight up the middle of no where. I played about 10 games last night and was not killed once in my spawn area.
Inv+Needler can defeat a DMR player in open space, if that's a problem you've encountered. I've also gotten more success going right and up the steps, using more teammates with me, using Inv, etc. - some of you make it seem like it is completely impossible to win as an Elite.

dude teleported right next to me out of nowhere.
It's not a question of running in the open. The game spawns people directly in front of the other team. I posted this last night ~> link. If I didn't have a snipe and instead had another teammate with a DMR they would've been wrecked the same way. Once the locations are memorized it'll be so easy to force spawns. Poor Elites don't have a chance.Striker said:Stop running straight up the middle of no where. I played about 10 games last night and was not killed once in my spawn area.

professor_t said:I don't agree with this -- I like it the way it is, and I've barely used the hammer to this point -- but it seems like Bungie is culling data that speaks to this issue.
For example, if they find that sprinters wreak havoc on a map with the hammer, but don't demonstrate much skill with other facets of the game, it seems like this would constitute a problem (an oversimplification, but hopefully you get the point).
However, if this isn't the case, it might suggest that our subjective -- and potentially flawed -- perceptions are tarnishing our judgment (e.g., thanks to basic cognitive principles like the availability heuristic, being on the other end of a handful of egregious hammer kills can cause us to the think the system is horribly unbalanced, even if it's not).
In any event, I hope Bungie is going to listen to the fans, but at the same time will pay close mind to the data. No offense, but I trust it a lot more than I trust the fans.![]()
I'm not saying I disagree with a lot of the criticisms levied against the game, but I hope Bungie essentially disregards complaints that aren't backed up by hard data.
The first 2 parts of invasion are ridiculously easy as elites. I've never played a game where the elites didn't reach stage 3.Striker said:Stop running straight up the middle of no where. I played about 10 games last night and was not killed once in my spawn area.

Wizpig said:Are you guys experiencing slowdowns (not necessarily lag; engine slowdowns) in Invasion / Invasion Slayer?
If the answer is yes, are you a F&F or ODST beta user?
And when did you have slowdowns?
thanks.
@Pookaki: can't you check the video from the enemy perspective?
I've had slowdown in F&F in Invasion from a nearby exploding Wraith. I didn't go back and check the film, but it was similar to when you'd see slowdown in Halo 3 - lots of effects fighting each other.Wizpig said:Are you guys experiencing slowdowns (not necessarily lag; engine slowdowns) in Invasion / Invasion Slayer?

Yes, that's a common issue, we should report it but I'm sure Bungie already knows.Pookaki said:My PoV: http://www.bungie.net/Stats/Reach/FileDetails.aspx?fid=745831

Broked.
I experience mega slowdown when someone joins or leaves an Xbox Live chat party while in game. It gets pretty bad.

It happens to everyone.Dani said:I have a question, if you could answer Urk or anyone else I'd appreciate it.
When spawning during a game of Invasion, either Slayer or Invasion proper, and if I choose to spawn away from my battle partner in an isolated area, is it normal for there to be a delay between when the respawn timer countdown reaches zero and the moment I respawn?
See, I've repeatedly decided to spawn away from the action in both game modes and when the timer hits zero I'm expecting to respawn instantly, but I don't. There's a noticeable delay of somewhere between a second or two (it's not a fixed duration). Seems like it's unlikely to be kept from spawning for a few additional seconds and that's why I'm asking.
Also, does anyone else experience this?

All the time. It's annoying.Dani said:Also, does anyone else experience this?

Agreed. Is that something that is going to fixed for ship? I can't really see a fix for that though. So far it only happened to me twice, but it's still a problem.Oozer3993 said:As long as we make a gentleman's agreement not to park the Scorpion on the core.

You know that once you get up to the lower level on cliff side you can circle around and come out where the Spartans spawn right?GhaleonEB said:I don't think so. That phase really needs another way in, right now it's far too predictable. Shooting gallery, then watch the stairs. Flying out in the open when the other team spawns with DMRs and Pistols isn't that much of an advantage, but it would mean that when the defenders get scattered, there's opportunity to get in faster. It would be pretty interesting.
Nope, never found that route, though I've heard others mention it. I'll fly around in a film. I still don't like that you have to enter on the left or right sides, it needs a third way up. I'm just not fond of the set up of the first phase.electricpirate said:You know that once you get up to the lower level on cliff side you can circle around and come out where the Spartans spawn right?

Yeah, thats why I loved Headlong. You won't be punished for that. Occassional quits out of neccessity are being accounted for. Bans are reserved for players who exhibit a clear pattern of habitual quitting.Sill4 said:Here is an example of why I think the banhammer for quitting is bullshit.
I just played an Invasion game in which the other team (Spartans with DMR's) used the spawn kill/ cover fire approach. My team was ridiculously unorganized/sucky, and my battle bro quit in the first minute, leaving me to spawn into 4 Spartans every time. So I quit.
To think that I will be punished for not wanting to spend 4 minutes re-spawning makes me![]()

Nice! Sounds like fun. Makes me wish my real life friends played Halo.DJmizuhara said:Finally got into playing some Halo Reach yesterday and today with my 3 of my friends in the same room. We had 4 360's and 3 monitors and a HDTV running, my room was crazy hot, I'm surprised that we didn't get any RRoD's. We started at 7pm and finished playing at 3:30am...I totally suck at Halo although I had a real good time. Will carry on again tonight...another 8 hour gaming session...my wife is going to be pissed.
