I dont know, im sure Nylund could repair the damage. And we could pretend Glasslands was just a dream
, but in general Glasslands was a pretty big letdown. Between the characters being transformed into caricatures of themselves and the shield world plotline basically not living up to potential it feels more like Glasslands was Karens way of moving the peices into position for her own stories. Stories that may well be good. Its just a shame she had to trash other writers characterisations and plot lead ups to get there.Zeouterlimits

Oh please. I haven't been one of the people complaining about it, but what have people said to make you think that's the reason?
Because I read and agree with the complaints that
Halsey is targeted, that the rest of ONI is practically glorified and her demonised.

ONI is glorified? Of course. One point of view is a group of ONI solider with Mrs. Parangosky beloved apparent daughter Osman. Halsey is targeted? She gets criticized by a group of soldiers who don't know now nothing about the Spartan II project and are heavily biased. On the other hand Glasslands is the beginning of a trilogy. Maybe Mrs. Parangosky puts Halsey in the pillory because she can protect herself. Isn't it normal to put somebody in the pillory, so he/she/it gets the main attraction and other people will never be notice? I should like to emphasise that I understand the critics against the Halsey bashing somehow.
I hope you agree that Mrs. Traviss has a bigger task as Mr. Bear. Mr. Bear has a lot more freedom compared to her. She must regard the books, the games, the comics(even if they are bad), the encyclopedia to write a canon-issue-free book. And this narrows down the writer freedoms. Mr Bear has a bigger time space to tell his story. An unknown time-space. I think she did a great job with Glasslands. But we can say my opinion is influenced of the lack of Halo 4 information and Glasslands gave me some information. If I read it again in a year, I think my book impression will be different.

Also as far as campaign goes uncharted 2 was way better than 3. The encounters in 3 were repetitive and sometimes very unfair. Plus that whole bit in 3 where
You are walking aimlessly around the desert slows the game way down, it is just the dev saying look how pretty we can render sand, sorry you are forced to play a really boring part that should be a cutscene but look at this sand
Just started Uncharted 3 myself a few hours ago. Pretty great so far despite the tiring shooting sections.
And even though I still have a few games to play before it, popped in Skyrim yesterday and that looked surprisingly good. Can't wait to get into it once I clear my queue of shorter games.

Firing guns in UC is the most unsatisfying thing I've ever done in a high quality game, love the platforming though.

I really enjoyed the Uncharted series a lot but never replayed any of them, kinda weird.

Oh. The problem is the shooting sections getting bigger and longer. Really letdowns imo.
Still Uncharted 2 is the best PS3 game yet. I playing KillZone 3 right now and the game is boring too. The introduction level was awesome. Visual and in Story aspect, but after that it has its letdowns too. Damn.

I have Uncharted 3 on its way in the mail. I've only ever enjoyed the stories, cutscenes, and platforming in Uncharted games. The shooting is much to be desired (from what I remember): encounters aren't that dynamic, and it doesn't feel good to clear through enemies. I've only played UC1 and UC2 once each, hence my foggy memory.

I find it pretty incredible the amount of crying about this novel; its like you think Halsey is your mom too.

I watched this entire thing. Before the team house thing and this I've never seen or heard of anything of or by this guy and wanted to get my hate levels for him up to speed with the rest of the community. Mission accomplished. Now excuse me while I go stab a pillow repeatedly.

Killzone 3 is really boring to be honest. Just the same encounters over and over. Still have yet to beat it because it keeps boring me.
Uncharted 3 is really boring compared to 2. The encounters are all the same and they are sometimes very unfair. Especially when I am being shot at from 3 different directions, at that point the whole cover mechanic is useless. The worst part being near the end
when those guys teleport behind you and they have a one hit kill attack

I don't spend any time at all on the MLG forums... but holy crap, I would never, ever, EVER let this guy moderate ANYTHING I was in charge of.
This is the first I have ever heard of him. What's the team house stuff? That was a fascinating insight into a different type of human thought process.
As he puts it, it's a "Big Brother" experience with a Halo team. 5 guys living in a hour playing Halo 8-10 hours a day until the MLG opener. The team has a "veteran" captain Naded with 3 amateur players, the house will be in California and their goal is Top 8. Here's the promo video.
Heads up he isn't associated with MLG in any way, think of him like the Westboro Baptist Church of competitive gaming.
And when that fails to happen, Naded will write up a blog post blaming his teammatess lack of dedication and practice. :lol

I am only 'crying' because of the fact it was clear Karen just used the novel to set up the peices for her own books. She should have chosen her own slice of the universe to write a novel about instead of change another authers characters and plot lead ups.
Im still extremely disappointed in how the shield world played out. It was the most uninspired way a new alien world could have been portrayed. I really hope this isnt a sign of 343's quality bar. Exploring that shield world should have been a much more interesting part of the novel. Instead it was almost sideswept, there was very little exploration of what should have been something totally new to us. (Well except for the fact there was a shield world in Halo Wars.) Instead of exploring the shield world we got a lot of chapters following the Elites, and as cool as that side of the story was it was the Shield World which kept me reading, and im just disappointed in how bland and cheap that story felt.
For the record it was "ma'am" lol!
