Seeing as how this is the new "Halo" thread, I'd thought I'd make a post about this here.

I was browsing HBO and came across this. Such a tantalizing line of thought. Honestly, if there is any connection between Marathon and Halo, it should be THAT. It's one (probable) amazing connection.

Just because he is trying to force fit a cosmology concept into his theory, doesn't make it any less garbage. It would be cool if there was a Durandal/The Flood connection, but not that way.

I just saw "The babysitter" ugh, what a travesty. I like the whole concept of Halo anime shorts, but that had such cliche dialog and characters. The one bitchy ODST with horrible spiky hair just ruined it for me and made the ODST's seem like children. On the other hand, "The Package" was really good and felt authentic to the universe. Maybe the studio who did the babysitter was a different studio from the makers of the package, whatever the case I just hope the other ones have way less spiky hair and way less lame dialog.

Every short is done by a different writer, director, and animation studio.

The bitchy ODST didn't bother me at all. Young hotshot sniper who always make his shot when it counts is a pretty common military genre trope.

Juices is the best. Juices I just used your Shadow Complex guide to get Insurgent/Minimalist. That game has a better campaign than Halo 3 and ODST. Every area of the map has so much love and detail put into it and the mechanics are really enjoyable. Probably the first game I've ever replayed more than once.

A Halo themed pseudo-3d game like that developed by ChAIR would be amazing.

Read 'Human Weakness' from Halo Evolutions –

The bit with Cortana and the Gravemind battling. I wonder seriously if Mendicant Bias was affected in the same manner as Cortana. With what we were given in the terminals, it appears that the Gravemind knew Mendicant’s weakness for good dialogue and convinced him that way. With Cortana, a lesser AI, he simply overwhelmed her inputs and focused on her own weakness – the desire for knowledge and everlasting life. Very very powerful and interesting – shows the reverse side of Cortana, and makes her that much more human.

However, I did NOT like the difference in dialogue between what happened in the level “Cortana” in Halo 3 vs what was said in this book. It would have been so much clearer how Cortana came back to a ‘normal’ state once she was inside of the Chief’s systems if they had used the dialogue in the book. It would have given that small insight we all needed to piece it together – but with what we were given in H3, I was left with a hole (as were others) on how Cortana’s demise and sudden recovery actually happened.

Reading ‘the Impossible Life and Possible Death of Preston Cole’ and so far, it is astounding. I really enjoy this look into the rebellion – something I had previously only been somewhat interested in. I also like how ‘human’ Cole is – far from perfect, but astounding in one aspect of his life.

This book is one of the best of the recent novels to come out. ‘Contact Harvest’ offered a lot to the fiction, but was ultimately not as interesting, and ‘ Cole Protocol’ was completely useless as a novel IMO.
