And of course who can forget all the random people that post in the thread saying they are looking forward to something, never to post anything more and to never play it.

It's going to be revealed at the Spike TV VGAs on Saturday night. Expect a 2-1/2 minute "trailer" which is just a section cut from the opening scene of the game. That's about all we know.

This will be "just" a cinematic, right? Real gameplay details are coming mid-January? Either way, I'm excited.

Also, I hope we get checkpoint history (at least 2 checkpoints in addition to the most recent one). The option is not there in Tom Morello's shot, but there's still time to add this.

Not related, but it looks like there have been some aesthetic changes made to the MA5C of ODST and Halo 3.

Indeed. It looks like the Halo 1 AR, but has the Halo 3 ammo. I'm wondering what's new with it. It's like the Halo 3 AR speculation all over again. :lol ps: I'm not a fan of that reticule in the Reach screenshot, hopefully it's just placeholder.

At first I thought it could've been the MA5K, but the outline of the AR in the screenshot doesn't match the picture of the weapon.

What? Iron sights are pretty cool as they give you a bit better of accuracy and at the same time allow you to be aware of your surroundings. I don't know which game you have played that made you hate them, but they are really well implemented in Crysis.
 
Damn. What did iron sights ever do to you guys?

I don't see a problem with aim modes, but then again I was never traumatized by them in my youth like some.

Yeah only thing is.. we are supposed to be Spartans who have nueral links with their weapons, allowing them to zoom in through their HUD. So if they really wanted to do iron sights.. ODST was the game they should have done it for, not a game where you are suppose to be a super soldier.

CtrlAltDestroy is really the only person in the Halo modding community that I think deserves a job at Bungie. He does take assets from the games, but the animations he does himself are great.

I'm positive it is. I'm not programmer or anything, but I'm pretty sure that in the Alpha stages of ALL games, they re-use assets in order to get a build of the game-in-progress so they can test out the build, make sure it functions and to ensure that all developers in the studio have a functioning build that they can work with on a daily basis.

@0:42-0:50, you can clearly see that both the BR and AR were positioned in first-person view like the weapons in Halo 2 (back-side pointed downward) and you can even see the AR reload the same way the Halo 2 BR did.

I'm obsessed with in-game animations like reload animations, weapon switching animations (the Et Tu Brute ViDOC showed off an AWESOME weapon switch from the Shotgun to the AR, but that got cut :( ), especially for Halo. It really sucks that they re-used a lot of the same animations across all 4 Halo games. :(

Don't know how I'd feel about iron sight in Halo.

I think it would be kind of jarring at first. I think we're all too used to not having it now to make such a drastic change.

The only thing I wouldn't mind is the option to map buttons. I'd like to use left trigger for zooming now please.

Grenades would be just as easy to use (see: spam) as X or LB.

I actually like this response a lot, and I'm not one to push Halo in a direction that removes its distinctive qualities, but there are middle grounds. Sprinting, for one, is something I'd like to see and that fits in with the fiction. In general I'd like to feel more like I'm in a cybernetic suit of awesomeness than I do in the previous games.

Edit: Examples:

Feeling the weight of the suit. Landing with a thud. Jumps that aren't so floaty, and the same with flipping vehicles. Hearing bullets ricochet off of the armor, steaming armor residue from plasma hits, and more of a feeling that the mask isn't just some 2D graphics layer, but that I'm occupying the head inside that helmet, even if its just subtle touches like shifting the visor slightly to the side when colliding or taking hits.

If it is to keep the fiction, then I agree. However, how does a spartan have a neural link with the covie weapons?

This is actually what I disliked most about Halo 2 and Halo 3. In Halo 1, it was you vs them, and you could feel outnumbered and weak. In Halo 2/3, you just run around, plowing through Covenant and Flood like they're nothing. Legendary took a little more, but it still wasn't quite the same feeling as Halo 1. That feeling sort of came back in ODST, but was taken away once you play the flashbacks.

Anyway, the point of me posting that wasn't to talk about the Plasma Pistol. It was just to give some small example of his work and ideas. :lol

To be honest if Reach is going for Class based MP, then I would sort of prefer it they do it as the following...

Recon Class - Allow them to sprint for 5 seconds with a cool down period, no weapon or Radar usage allowed while sprinting. Drives Vehicles faster as well. Cloak Ablity with no Radar.

Sniper Class - Allow zoom ability to increase to 12x instead of 8x [i know Halo 3 normal is max 10x] Also allow quick pistol arm with zoom ability of 2x. Cannot drive vehicles. Cannot use Rockets or Lasers.

Soldier Class - Allow player to drive run and zoom but all normal functions [aka Halo 1,2,3] Allow player to pick up extra shield [OS] Can use any weapon.

I have too much to write but that is just a sample, but then again that is just what I would enjoy if Reach was indeed a Class based shooter. [all imo of course]

I am scared of Bungie doing something that will end up being incredibly unbalanced and that could potentially break the game. The last thing Bungie needs is hate mail asking them to nerf a certain class. However, since that is the next evolution, we can only pray.

And the auto aim that comes with it, keep that crap away from Halo. The zoom already implemented is just as precise and keeps you mobile unlike the crawling pace iron sight forces you into.

Class restrictions like this make zero sense and should never be included in games, ever.
