I would think 7 kills would allow you to operate the Prophet of Regret's chair.Domino Theory said:Get 7 kills to call in the Prophet of Truth to come into the MP match and give one of his holy speeches.

Just look at Killzone 2 to see a recent example of how this kind of design can go very, very wrong. *If* the classes are meticulously balanced, it could work, but even when that happens, each class feels like you're only playing a very limited facet of what has been until now a very open game.Ajemsuhgao said:Class restrictions like this make zero sense and should never be included in games, ever.
That shit is so fucking lame...Domino Theory said:
Agreed. Halo's gameplay has always been about having the freedom to use any strategy you want to the extent allowed by your tools. The last things I want in Reach are class restrictions.Ajemsuhgao said:Class restrictions like this make zero sense and should never be included in games, ever.

Starting to get pretty excited about this.

its actually quite sad when you're not expected to concentrate on the actual objective and teamwork. yeah yeah "but but but weapon management" well a class system would allow players to choose their weapon of choice and it wouldn't lead to players having conflicts over power weapons and itd let people organise quicker and concentrate purely on the objective. the great thing about a tf2 style class system is that if a team balances itself onto once aspect its easy enough for the other team to adjust. then i know what you're going "but but but map control" yeah bro that works anyway without having to place power weapons. dunno, maybe i'm being picky cuz i play like you know, good mutiplayer games.kylej said:So you mean everyone is playing the game correctly while you blindly run towards the objective like a dumbass.
TF2 owns brother. but yeah i agree it wouldn't work for anything other than objective games. i mean okay bungie haven't been that creative but you can make some pretty own objective types (see tf2) again. If it's like TF2, I wouldn't mind that too much. But I can't see it working for anything but objective gametypes.
But organizing what weapons to go for is teamwork. At the start of the game, you say "this person go camo, this person goes sniper and then os, we go for rockets" and then use those to get the objective. Hasn't weapon control always been a part of halo? If you don't want a multiplayer game with weapon control, I guess Halo isn't for you.Chinner said:its actually quite sad when you're not expected to concentrate on the actual objective and teamwork. yeah yeah "but but but weapon management" well a class system would allow players to choose their weapon of choice and it wouldn't lead to players having conflicts over power weapons and itd let people organise quicker and concentrate purely on the objective. the great thing about a tf2 style class system is that if a team balances itself onto once aspect its easy enough for the other team to adjust. then i know what you're going "but but but map control" yeah bro that works anyway without having to place power weapons. dunno, maybe i'm being picky cuz i play like you know, good mutiplayer games.

i dunno bro, i mean i understand what you mean but to me the weapons is just a useless middle man that could be cut. if someone wants to play as a stealth character or a sniper character just let em. people would be able to immediately assume the roles they want to play and they wouldn't have to worry about spawns and they could benefit the team straight away.big ander said:But organizing what weapons to go for is teamwork. To me, weapon classes aren't as much fun because they aren't as flexible. I haven't played a ton of TF2, but from what I've played and what I've seen played, there needs to be certain people playing classes. I just have more fun when I can say "Hey, I've been using the sniper for a couple minutes, why don't I support my team and grab a hog." I just don't like being restricted to certain abilities at certain times.Chinner said:i dunno bro, i mean i understand what you mean but to me the weapons is just a useless middle man that could be cut. if someone wants to play as a stealth character or a sniper character just let em. people would be able to immediately assume the roles they want to play and they wouldn't have to worry about spawns and they could benefit the team straight away.
It doesn't make the bullets do more damage it makes the guns more accurate than they would be when fired from the hip.Ajemsuhgao said:Shit like this always bugs me in games. Why would anyone thinks that's a good idea? How does lifting your gun to your face suddenly make the bullets do more damage?

That, and extremely weak pistols bother me. Like in Battlefield 2. You had to empty a magazine AND THEN SOME to kill someone with a pistol, getting headshots. It was so stupid.
I consider myself a Bungie/Halo "fanboy", and I have no problem with ironsights in other games. More often than not, I actually WANT ironsights(see: Left 4 Dead/2..and basically every other Valve game), but Halo does not need ironsights, and it wouldn't even make sense to have them, considering MJOLNIR visors have that link to scoped weapons.
Ironsights make no sense in a game where you can run and jump around freely.
Someone's going to bring up Borderlands

CrazedArabMan said:Borderlands is different though because of the lock on feature when you are in iron-sights, just like CoD. Iron-sights are great for other games, but it is not a feature that is meant for a game that plays like Halo.

joey_z said:You got it wrong. Bungie is in the habit of changing the story to allow for gameplay changes than stifling gameplay to allow for a continuous story. They come up with changes in gameplay and then model the story around it if need be.
