This. I often play splitscreen with my cousin. We both play with our own Xbox Live Gold accounts.

This is ridiculous. The whiners should stop spamming this thread with their "logic" and go play Modern Warfare 2 instead.

Then that's your fault for not logging in on your account. You expect Xbox Live to just assume it's you playing behind that guest's name? Don't be so naive. That's a horrible argument, and is also very fitting coming from you. Only you would expect something to work like that. You pay for the account that thereby lets you use the service... Yes, I do believe it would eliminate some of those problems because people tend to care a bit more when their stats are kept track of. There is definitely a difference between someone who cares about their stats/achievements/etc on their account, and someone who doesn't.

Also, I think Jetpacks can work. Don't shoot me but if MP is a radical change, as long as jet pack dudes don't get snipers I'm cool. Reach should also include options implemented to make games 99.9% just like games in Halo 3, as in completely mimic them. Probably asking for too much.

Astounding? Not really. There is an ocean of opinions out there. I used to think it was astounding that someone could enjoy using dual spikers in multiplayer, but then I met Dax. Now I know there's plenty of weird and different people out there that enjoy games in ways that are very strange to me. It doesn't astound me anymore.

You completely missed the point of what I was trying to say, then you twist my words into something they're not. All I meant to say is that, assuming I don't recover (and I don't see any reason not to), it's still me.

Good point, but whether or not someone behaves a certain way doesn't mean that others shouldn't be able to do it. There are a lot of people who scream/sing/are generally really annoying, but that doesn't mean I shouldn't be able to use a mic.

This is actually a possibility in Reach. Bungie is taking out equipment and replacing it with armor powers (w.e theyre called). So a short burst jetpack could easily replace the gravlift (and would be much easier and practical to use).

Edit: Alright, I see what you mean now. My point is just that a lot of these problems are caused by guests being in a game. Since guests don't pay for Xbox Live then don't let them use it. Make them get their own accounts.

In order to use your account on someone's Xbox you need to recover your tag in order to play on it. What about that doesn't make sense?

The way you worded it was unnecessary. I don't understand what using your gamertag instead of a guest account would make. Now, if you brought your box and a tv over... that would be ideal.

Using your own gamertag means there is a sense of something being yours. You have your own stats, your own achievements, your own map variants, your own saved films, etc. That makes most people care a bit more when they play because that account represents you and your achievements from playing the game. Guests don't have that sense of self entitlement when they are playing, which could be the reason for why so many of them don't take the games they play very seriously (betrayals, dropping out, fucking around, etc). This was the point I was trying to make: people with their own gold accounts care more about the games they are playing in.

Well, since XBL gives you, essentially, unlimited amount of playtime for one year's worth of subscription, how you spend it doesn't really matter. At least I think that's what I'm getting at.:lol

And that right there is probably the biggest point of contention (it seems to me). For the casual players, those people who just have a casual interest in playing a game (you know, will play it and have fun if they're over at a friends house) they just can't see themselves playing the game enough to justify spending that $50. Now, if it was PSN, it'd be a different story.

I was bringing up reasoning for points that hadn't been brought up yet. You really want to argue about that now?! Shame on you for making a post that only stirs the shit up again. At least our posts are on topic with the thread title in regard to the speculation of what changes the game may or may not have, and what pros and cons would come from the change. And after all this bickering I think each side both proved some solid points.

For what it's worth, I think I finally got my point across to those who were too thickheaded to understand it at first, and I have nothing more to say on the matter. I will sleep well tonight!
 
If the AR debate was bannable, HaloGAF would only create other things to debate about. I mean, for christ sake we're arguing over the inclusion of split-screen. I liked it better when Easter Eggs, HBO posts and impressions were posted. Hopefully X10 will wash away all the arguments with nitpicking of cell-phone quality videos of reach.

This all started because someone thought that by saying "take guests out of matchmaking" actually meant "OMG SPLIT-SCREEN SUCKS GET RID OF IT." It was never about removing split-screen from Halo. =/

I haven't followed the debate too closely, so this has probably been mentioned, but what about allowing split screen/guests in Social but not Ranked playlists? Guests seem to fit the mold of what Social is about.
 
Halo themed 1vs100 extended play on right now and for the next few minutes I think, omgosh.

It's hilariously difficult.

Removing split-screen from Halo has been the go-to argument for people wanting it to look better for a long time. It's not exactly surprising it popped up.

That's how it works right now. Hence why the people saying that this basic feature, one that has been part of Live since Mechassault, should be scrapped are confusing the hell out of me. If they don't want to see a bongtacular(1), they never have to.

Anyway. Genuinely stoked about the vidoc. I've had a theory for a while now that Reach's MP is going to be the biggest evolution the series has taken so far. I'm hoping we get enough information to have a feel for it.
 
As far as Reach being a stand-alone game and not a continuation of the master chief story, it makes me think that Halo 4 will be a release for the next xbox system whatever and whenever that will be. Makes sense anyway.

I found this statement hypocritical to the brink of actually making sense...the question is, does pointing this out exempt your own act of complaining about complainers, or continue the viscious cycle of Samsara (a little buddhism reference)? :D
 
Holy shit i just realized there will be glass levels on reach.. Its always been obvious considering the whole planet gets glassed.... But that concept art just puts it in your face and into perspective... which game has ever had melted glass levels?....WOOO this game is gonna be sweet!

Kinda Ironic, i been really pleased with ME2's graphics but after playing that game for around 40 hrs and then looking at Reach's screens, they look much better then i originally thought they did. I think its the higher resolution textures and more realistic shading.... ME2 has really dynamic and high contrast lighting/shading but some things look a little awkward compared to Halo's straight up lighting.
