That is 100% not Reach. Firstly, the Spartan is wearing Spartan II MJOLNIR armour, armour that isn't worn by the Spartan IIIs in Reach. Secondly, the font on the screen looks similar to Crysis, perhaps this is a Cryengine mod. The laser sight too is just something Bungie would never include in a halo game, especially in multiplayer. The final nail in the coffin is how early the build looks, considering that we know the game is nearly in an Alpha state, coupled with the media we recently received, we know the game looks much better/different artistically to this video.

Well that looked all kinds of weird. The running animation did remind me of CoD, but I guess if it is real (very high probability its not) you could say that they both use MoCap now, so there would be similarities. I'm not buying it though. 3rd person Spectating? Gun moving all around when running (instead of held to the shoulder like all other Halos)? Gotta call fake.

fake edit: As Arnie says, wrong armor too.

It’s definitely going to explore one of the things that we get asked about the most, which is the events on planet Reach. “Fall of Reach” is obviously a hugely successful novel—it’s been a New York Times bestseller multiple times over, so people are very curious about Reach, but it’s one corner of the universe. Halo 1, 2, and 3 are one set of events that take place over a couple of months in the year 2552. That’s one year out of a 100,000 that we’ve talked about. We could go back and explore the Spartan-versus-human insurgency, for example, that would be a whole different story arc. There are infinite places. We’re spoiled for choice, honestly.

Please, no. I can pretty much pick up any other shooter game and face off against humans. I'm more interested in learning more (read: kill) about the rest of the Covenant, and the possible different races that knew better than to mess with Master Chief. :D That whole Forerunner Combat Skin sounds pretty swanky too.

Man, karen Traviss' story in Evolutions is so fricken good, it makes me really annoyed that Bungie didn't use the idea of Cortana's imminent rampancy more thoroughly in Halo 3's mess of a story.

how about 3 games set much later in the halo universe?? Say 2725 or something... humans and elites have stopped their alliance and are at war again, then a new threat emerges, oonsk is the lead character... what say u?

It would have been overkill.

We already have to contend with our wife's/gf's imminent rampancy while we are playing. :lol

Oh yes please. I would love to see the universe actually go somewhere new and not just make a bunch of games to fill in the gaps in the storyline. Reach is sounding like a better game and what Halo 3 should have been, but I doubt it's going to really do anything unique story wise by adding anything new just like ODST really didn't do much new. I would love to see something set past Halo 3 with a new war of some sorts, perhaps some new enemies to contend with... enemies of the Covenant now running loose with the Covenant alliances broken up.

I can't claim all the glory for the new flavour, it was a joint effort.

Oh and Detective Arnie called the Crysis mod, without ever owning or playing Crysis. My life is one big ubiquitous videogame.

Also, happy birthday Halo GAF, let's hope Bungie brings the presents tomorrow.

I guess the hierarchs could be the prophets of Snap, Crackle, and Pop.

I think Frankie should delve deeper into the breakfast covenant. Grunts are the milk. Elites are the toast and butter of the cereal directed combat forces. Brutes are mouldy oranges.
