I expected heavier. Still buying it though.

I don't really know much about that game in terms of gameplay. What's the dealio?

They'll confirm it tomorrow.

Also, that Dev Blog artwork has been in the b.net Reach Concept Art page for a while.

There's even one that shows some moderately heavy rain.

I remember reading something about the game having changing weather. Am I wrong?

You're right - it was mentioned in one of the early printmag articles, I believe. (EDGE/GI.)

EDIT @ Domino Theory - That would pretty much crush my hopes and ruin my week. Something like that would have been better suited for GI's 'big reach expose'.../s

Wishing Bungle would confirm if this is a MP ViDoc or not.

I'm worried that it'll end up being the ViDoc they were talking about that they were working on for the VGA trailer. Remember? They said they had to hold onto it until the embargo was over (which was, what, last week?).

Not to say that it would suck because a new ViDoc from Bungie is always good times, but I can go on YouTube, Bnet, Xbox LIVE, your mom's house, etc. and see the VGA trailer be analyzed, talked about up the ass and seen in its entirety in 5 different ways.

We don't need to see anymore of it.

The first Halo 3 ViDoc was like this, right? They talked about the graphic enhancments and so on "This is Halo 3..." Oh boy

If that is the case I will be so disappointed. For an audience to be lead on with little information only to be shown something they have already seen is such an assy move. Luckily, Urk's comment that there will be lots of AR footage from the ViDoc makes me optimistic that we will at least see something of worth.

I'd love a Reach themed 360, I'm pretty sure mine is on it's last legs and my warranty is expired. I don't know if it would even last long enough for me to get one if it came out though. :(

Earlier today we reported that Original Xbox downloadable content had been taken offline, presumably in an early effort to turn off online support for the classic Xbox; however, according to Microsoft the unavailable DLC is only an error.

In an email to Joystiq, a Microsoft representative said: "We are aware that Xbox v1 users are currently unable to access downloadable content via Xbox LIVE, both for the original console and Xbox Originals on Xbox 360. The team is actively working on resolving this issue so that the Xbox v1 community can continue downloading content until April 15."

No time frame was given for a fix to the disconnected servers, but it looks like Microsoft wants gamers to enjoy every element of the original Xbox's connected experience until April 15. Now we can all go back to ignoring these server shutdowns and stop acting like it's such a big deal. You know, because it's 2010.

Thought I'd post this here since it's become pretty much the Halo thread.

Looks like Halo 2 might be able to get a big send off afterall.

Give us something bigger and more expensive than the Legendary edition and a new Halo Reach themed console.

I am so sad I missed the Halo 3 one.
No. I was stupid and payed $130 for it (even though it was originally supposed to be $100 with HD cutscenes from Halo 1, 2, and 3)... + cat helmet. Then all the bonus features were posted on some comcast games channel like a month later, iirc.

I'll still get the Collector's Edition or what not for Reach as long as it's good stuff and not overly expensive like the Legendary Edition.

Please no more consoles.

I already have 5 360s. Including the Halo 3 one which is tough as nails.

I don't want to be forced to buy more.

I'd prefer the Collector's Edition to be a replica M6G or something. Or maybe just give us a double disc Halo CE/Halo 2 remake with achievements and online.

Now THAT would be a CE that would sell like a motherfuck.

I was literally obsessed with H3 when it opened, yet I consciously made the decision to only buy the retail version because I knew there was no point to the other versions. The content wasn't too compelling, minus a few sentences of the Beastiarum, and I can always buy the CE disc alone for much less 6-12 months after release. Someone at Bungie probably spent a good 2-5 weeks effort making the CE/Legendary edition content, but MS decided to gauge the customer for maybe $20-50,000 of work max. This is all, of course, IMO.

Seriously getting tired of DLC, exclusive DLC, etc. Guarantee Gamestop went to Bungie saying, "What can you carve out of the game that you've already thought of, that we can make exclusive to us?" OR, "What armor piece can we make up that is completely unnecessary but make people want for no reason and won't use?" And then DLC is a whole other thing, and Halo 3 was the worst offender (not necessarily Bungie's fault per se).

Day 1, week 1, or month 1 DLC is a clear indication to me that it was purposely cut out of the game just to nickel and dime the customers. Without clear competition, we're forced to pay to enjoy the games we used to pay $50 for back in the day and get ALL of the content that was on the drawing board day 1 on the disc/cartridge. /gets off soap box

It's not a clear indication as the content may have not been ready by time the game went gold.

Why would you include something that's not working properly in the final game? And no one say "delay the game" because that costs time, money and resources. There's always a trade-off.

I think you too easily forget how short games used to be, and how little content they came with back then.

Think about this for a second.

I paid (or mother paid) $120AU for Street Fighter Championship Edition on Megadrive in 92 (or 94). Back in the EARLY 90's!!! Which translates to god knows how much today.

Now Street Fighter 2 isn't a 'long' game by the normal definition of what constitutes a long game. You could have that game beat with ALL characters within a few hours.

Now in 09, I paid $70AU for Street Fighter 4, which has MORE modes AND an online play. And I'm then going to complain for a few bucks for even MORE content?

:lol

No wonder Developers and Publishers don't listen to a word we say when it comes to whining over DLC. We're spoilt these days and we STILL want more for nothing.

Games today feature FAR more content and game length than the old day AND we pay less for the games now technically (at least in Australia and adjusted for inflation).

Then we want to complain when a developer/publisher wants to extend the life of that product for a few extra dollars? Come off it.

Yes there ARE examples of rorting. But the VAST majority of games with DLC involved are all above board and are decent value.

I agree with this in general. DLC that comes out immediately after a game is released is bogus. However, Halo 3's DLC came out 2 and 1/2 months later, which isn't bogus.

Why the hell do you have 5 360's? Jesus, spend that money on food or something.

Dragon Age came out in late November. Day one they had downloadable content available for download for a price and the game nags you ingame. A month later they released another DLC expansion. They recently just did another one. You cannot tell me that that DLC released on day one was unprepared the two months before when the game went Gold.

Dragon Age is a 100+ hour game without that content, if you think you got done out of content then quite frankly you're an idiot.

I think people need to realise that these days DLC is part of the development process, it's not content taken out of the game. It's content specifically made as DLC that would not be made otherwise. Sure in some cases that won't be true but these days it's the case most of the time.

Also Dragon Age has only had one piece of DLC since the launch stuff, not sure what you're referring to.

I get the point you're trying to make but I think you picked a poor example.

Why?

I don't drink, I don't smoke, I barely go out anymore outside of dinners, movies with the wife. I'm more than paying off my mortgage (we're building a house and living with my folks until it's done) and games are what I love.

I'm a collector so I buy LEs of shit.

I have a couple of LE PS2s plus LE versions of PSPs, DSs, Xbox, N64, 60GB PS3 (might as well be an LE) GB Micro and a few others.

Pretty sure Ill end up with probably 6 or 7 360s by the end of the generation. Hopefully they don't release any others.

I have no doubt Halo Reach will be a full product. If they want me to pay $10 for a flashback map pack I would do so. If they had it up day 1 I'd welcome it with open arms.

I wasn't complaining about the game, merely the marketing plan. The game is fuck awesome and I love it. Packed with tons of stuff. I'm talking about the devs holding back on content that could have been in the game but it is released shortly after to make even more money.

They had two DLC packs when I played it in December. I know this for a fact because there were two guys in-game telling me to buy it. They recently released another one that is pretty big and I'm going to have to pick it up because it looks awesome.

@ 2 Minutes Turkish... you crazy man. So you have tons of plastic boxes laying around every where? I definately need a pic of this. Would be a glorious sight.

Yeah I wasn't going to get the Legendary Edition after they bumped it to $130. Plus I thought it would be super limited and all that. My friend talked me into getting it as he was getting it too. Sadface.

If you're well off go for it, I'm with you man. If I could afford it I'd be doing the exact same thing.
I'm not though, I dare not even buy a Mars bar for the consequences. One of these days, man... one of these days. *drifts into daydream*

Any chance the ViDoc may be recorded by someone at the event and then put up online? Or will this be in a private room or something...

Why not?

We'll never know how things were in the developmental cycle so there's no point in arguing this.

If you want a violator, look no further than Capcom.
