Do you have any comments on the AA this build is running? The first person shot looks like its in-game, like not a super high-res capture shrunk down as their is noticeable aliasing on the building. I hope that doesn't mean even even your super high res pics shrunk down the aliasing is still visible :[

Edit: What happened to the AR LCD display? It looks much worse now :/

Shots overall are amazing though, so much hypeee

The jaggies do hurt. The wood looks good. The covenant look pretty impressive I guess. Spartan - not so much. The lighting just looks off.

Four plasma grenades. More than 500 bullets on the AR. Almost 50 rounds in the pistol. Dash ability looks to be on (lightning bolt). Skirmishers looking scary. Grunt in pieces.

But none of those matter, because the reticule is centred.

Thats one damned good looking engine, especially considering its from Bungie. Don't get me wrong, I loved Halo 3 but WOW at those screens.

Other than that looks pretty good.

Texture quality looks a smidge higher to me. FOV has been pulled out though, making everything seem farther away and less detailed.

It's you. The AR in the newer picture looks a lot better.

Looks to me like jaggies may still be at the front of the graphics debate though.

Hmmm, okay.

I was mainly speaking about this part of the Assault Rifle. Seems like a very low resolution texture. Something you have on screen at all times should look pretty.

Yeah that's what I noticed as well - the FOV is bigger. No complaints there.

looks WOW. love the detail and vegetation. sadly the insane lighting from the cutscenes is still absent... but i think thats to be expected.

the rain shot has my jaw on the floor

Ok that texture specifically looks stretched, but overall the gun looks like it has had an additional/new layer of texture added from the earlier picture.

Higher FOV is something Halo has desperately needed since they took it away after 1.

I wouldn't of minded it with just the numbers but I miss the holographic blue display. Without it, it just seems a bit off.

I do however appreciate the larger FOV.

Why are people bothered about the removal of the compass? If anyone pretends that they ever used the compass on the AR to navigate then that is the worlds most audacious lie.

Also note that although his shields are down, there isn't that fucked up red effect on the screen that was included in ODST.

There's a compass on the HUD, I never understood why one had to be on the gun as well. Looks better nice and clean.

If journalists are getting a tour of Powerhouse(which looks gorgeous from the art) and Brian Jerrard has confirmed the reveal of multiplayer at the event, I think it's safe to assume, embargoes withstanding that we should get a slew of multiplayer previews in the not too distant future.

I'm disappointed by these screens. They look slightly more polished than before but still very much Halo 3. They really haven't stretched themselves very far in the visuals department. The plasma pistol has the same muzzle flare as Halo 3 ffs, and the Jackals look like the same chickens they were in 3.

Seeing as they were starting with a new engine, and new darker story, they definitely should have overhauled things more.

Let's see if gameplay is switched up.

i was under the impression that their was a campaign demo as well... where these screens came from.

Could be. I though both the demo and vidoc would be MP-focused, as the new screens look like they are from the same areas we'd seen before, just a newer build. No issues either way, I gotta say.

yay for FOV and higher contrast.

Is that confirmed to be the artwork for the final box?? Seems too good to be true. Bungie usually does tons of artwork for each game and most of the time ends up choosing one of the worst of the pile to represent the game in store shelves.

Also, the journalists watching Reach being demoed better notice if it still looks like a ugly jaggy mess, and report back on that aspect.
