I wonder what they are looking at...

Memories of the halo 3 beta, was good fun, also getting out of the map in a banshee and flying above the clouds is one halo related thing I will never forget, such detailed skyboxes gone to waste in halo 3...

Halogaf- I get the whole Br's after Veto thing; but does this work in the opposite way? For example, if it's Team BR on Midship, then a veto passed, does it automatically go to AR or normal starts? Not nocking the system, spraying the AR is still good times, just curious.

Unless something is set to skip after Veto it basically just comes up with a new gametype/map combination. If you veto Team BRs the next gametype could be BRs or ARs or whatever else is in the playlist. The weighting for Social Slayer (I think that's what we are talking about?) is as follows:

* Team Slayer (49.1%)
* Team Rockets (6.3%, Skipped after veto)
* Team Duals (15.2%, Skipped after veto)
* Team BRs (29.5%)

So if you have BRs and veto it, chances are you will get something else but it's not guaranteed. At least, that's my understanding of it. One thing I myself am not sure on, is when it says "Skipped After Veto" does that mean if you Veto say Team Slayer can you not get Rockets or Duals? Or does it only mean that those gametypes once vetoed won't come back up?

Yeah skipped after veto means that they just wont show up.

Also Leotarius - im worried Health packs could promote camping and actually take some variety out of the game as people may be tempted to just gravitate around the bases, imagine Valhalla with health packs for example, it would turn into a camp fest as people would be wary of stepping out and getting shot up without a way of getting theyre health back.

It will be interesting to see how it works out, I guess Vehicles will be less deadly and holding area's down will be a lot harder. Thats generally the effect Health packs had in Halo 1 from my experiance.

I have to disagree with this... Think about how BG played out in Halo 1. The health pack was at the base, but I never really let that effect how I played the level.

I can't really think about a time where I 'camped' around a Health Pack spawn.

I remember camping 'theyre' health pack on Blood Gulch a lot :lol - I also remember having to wait for the Health Pack to come back before making another flag run or whatever.

Maybe it was just me, I do remember having to make trips to the Health packs a lot which was pretty intense when your no shields and no health in a Banshee.

But yeah this is all from personal experiance so for the majority it probably played out fairly differently.

Chances are though you played with friends and acquaintances not annoying jerks on the internet. Myself, I wouldn't teleporter camp but some people get desperate enough to do it.

I wouldn't even call that 'desperate', it's pretty common. But really, for every cheese-dick move, there is a way to counter it. Get on a 'Goose, get that prick from behind.

Edit: In fact, that's one of the funner aspects of Halo to me. Find a guy cheese-dicking, and figuring out a way to put an end to him. Clearing portal campers in tanks and banshees, off the top of your base on Death Island (Halo PC) is exhilarating.

It has been confirmed that there are health packs in multiplayer, or is it possible that there is just a visible regenerating health bar?
Speculation. I think Bungie said there are health packs in the game, but it was in the context of campaign. Though it would make sense if they were in MP given the existence of the health bar.

I never thought they were much of a factor in Halo 1's MP. Once your shield is lost, you go down fast, whether via headshot or grenade or shotgun or whatever, regardless of the underlying health. It was always more of a mechanism that affected campaign for me.

I too played on Halo PC, and I guess if I played in Lans people wouldnt have resorted to such dick moves. Camping the Teleporters was even worse though :lol, Death Island used to be hell if that happened to you! Somehow that hasnt even been a problem with Halo 3.

Im really tempted to go play some Halo 1 PC right now lol

No I definitely played on XBC and as well played Halo PC.

Random jerks a plenty.

Side note: I'm playing through the Halo trilogy with my daughter, doing one or two levels a night. We started to a couple years ago, but she just wasn't ready yet from a thematic or gameplay standpoint. A couple years of Halo 3 MP and Forge shenanigans, and we're going to give it another shot; she's having a hoot. Last night we did the second mission of the first game, "Halo". As we start I'm recapping the story for her.

"So the Pillar of Autumn was boarded by Covenant, and Captain Keyes is going to try and land it on the Halo ring while we bailed out in the drop pods...." I say.

"...and we landed on Valhalla," she she finished. Which is pretty much right on. It made me laugh.

Fair enough then.

I guess to me having health packs is just one more thing that needs to be managed and is somewhat of an antiquated idea.

For me it's a small thing, that adds a lot of variety, especially in MP. I was sad to see it go away in Halo 2.

For example. Sniping someone in the chest will take off all their shields, and all but like, 2 bars of health. In Halo 2/3, they can simply just duck and cover, wait a few seconds, then pop out again without any worries of getting killed from another body shot. In Halo 1, unless they're hiding right next to a health pack, they're fucked. Another body shot will kill them, even with full shields.

Another example, say you've got guys camping a hill. You have an epic battle to take it, but you lose. Now, by the time you get back to that hill in Halo 2/3, they're fully recovered, rinse and repeat. But with health packs, they don't stand as much of a chance to hold that position, unless they retreat, looking for health.

I think health packs add a TON of flavor to MP.

Here's my submission :D

Don't have that many clips saved unfortunately, this is the best I still have..

I never found Health packs to add or take much from CE's MP vs. Halo 2/3. I do think the health packs were parts of more holistic balancing though. For example I think the fact that headshots are so freaking easy with a BR compared to the pistol makes partial damage much more important in CE. Considering that we are moving back to single shot weapons, I imagine that's part of the reason for moving back to health packs.

As I said though, the MP will probably move so fast it won't matter. I found myself rarely seeking out health packs in CE, mostly they were just a nice pickup if I was near them (except when I'd get caught on the lip down in the trench in Hang em High :lol )

Rendered it for you.

Thanks =) The reason I teabagged is because they were pretty francophobic in the lobby :lol As for the Elite, I must have been playing SWAT before, either that or to piss off the francophobes.

Why was I not playing BJ? I've been playing BJ for two years now, weird..

Rendered the second one since the first was already rendered.

Thanks =)

Gonna get some Crysis action before going to bed before my next term starts tomorrow. I'd go do some Halo, but I'm afraid to get pissed at XBL/MM after a weekend of MLG LANing..

Hey im putting up, these 3 for now, already rendered aswell:

I havent got access to my Xbox right now so I cant put up some of my better stuff,
but I made a montage a while back and if any of this stuff looks good could send it:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhUsetOAom4

To be honest though I reckon you will get enough stuff submitted to you and I REALLY doubt you would ask me for clips, but its a nice way to plug my montage :lol

Here's two small clips for the montage. Here and Here

Had I known about this montage earlier I would have saved clips from the HaloGaf Customs night last saturday. Looks like a great extra excuse for folks to come next saturday.

anyone else have old rendered videos disappear? I've been using up minutes to render dumb clips of mine and now my old stuff is missing.

True. But at least he got what he deserved for charging with the BR. Had he used the AR in that situation I'd have been toast. :p

Dont open up that can of worms :lol - I disagree, if he strafed and Br'd you he would have easily killed you. Nice clip though, 2 killtacs in a row is pretty sweet!

Some of the other clips being put up are really nice aswell, gonna be hard fitting this many quality clips into a reasonably sized montage lol, good luck Bladed!

Actually Ghal if you pulled out your BR instead of reloading your AR, you would have had a Killtrocity :p

Hell, one more: http://www.bungie.net/Online/Halo3UserContentDetails.aspx?h3fileid=89714261

It's either going to be the longest montage ever, or he'll have plenty to pick and choose from. :lol

I'll see what i have and try and keep it under ten minutes. Thats a good 50-60 or so clips. If it turns out to be way too long ill think about limiting the amount of clips per person.

Still no idea what kind of music to use though. Suggestions greatly appreciated

Wait, so is it oozer or bladed doing the montage?

And I think it would be cool if everyone PMed in their clips, so people don't see them in advance until the final montage is posted, making the thing that bit more special and fresh. :)

I'm will avoid watching these individual clips anyways.

edit- looking at my fileshare, I'm realizing that after 2 years, I don't have any REALLY amazing plays... :( but will still be sending in some interesting ones.

Gotta use LP. :p :lol

I'll look through my clips later and pick some out, a lot of mine could be widdled down to 2-3 second clips for a montage...

Ran out of Bungie Pro a few months ago so I haven't been able to touch my fileshare since. Slim pickings so just a few ones that might be worth puttin in:

Holding down a position with snipe. Noteworthy part at the end when with two no-scopes with two bullets remaining. Link

Mongoose splatter. Link

Fail video. Basic Orbital shittery. Link

Edit: :lol at "a few focused Ar's"

Bungie.net eventually clears your rendered videos, especially if nobody is looking at them or the source film isn't in a fileshare anymore. As explained on the site itself, bungie.net is not a video storage service, like YouTube. It is a rendering service.

If you want to keep your rendered video around, you have to save it off locally.
