I'm suprised that no one's jumping for joy over the fact that there's a 3 Plots equivalent shown off in the MP trailer.
I was when the trailer first came out. No one seemed to care when I mentioned it on that day!

If anyone needs someone to play with, add me (TheGuyBhindYou). Just be warned that I play for fun, so I'm not super competitive. :D Hardly anyone on my friend's list plays Halo anymore =[

Either way nice Ngaf humpday, I dont recognise a couple of the guys though :(

It's one of the rare games we lost. Because I believe KP typed it up. When I typed them up, certain inconsistencies could be introduced.

The writeup says the usual twist wasn't applied. That didn't help you much.

If all the maps come from campaign it must mean there are only like 11 maps in the game.

So, you're saying one multiplayer level per one Campaign level? What stopping them for having more than one?

I guess my host advantage was too much to handle even back in 2006. :lol :lol

5 on 6? Not impressive!

Btw, Nutter, I don't know if it's necessarily your host that is the problem, or if it is just the factor of you being on the west coast. Same thing happens sometimes with Domino and Eazy. We all just need to move closer to one another! Here's hoping that Reach improves this problem.

But yeah, last night wasn't very fun at all for me. My connection can't handle all those west coast hosts let alone a 16 player match. I think that's why I will never enjoy BTB games. :lol

This needs to happen again. Even if its unofficial. We could play a bunch of different sites.
Is all of HaloGAF getting on Halo 2 in April 14th? If so maybe we should have something like this on the day we all say farewell to Halo 2.

Wait, so we're going from complaining about facing people from another country to facing people from another coast? Really? :p

Also, to be fair, IF Nutter was hosting, he had to take care of a few people in customs who were from another country (no offense to those in the UK/Europe/Australia) in addition to everyone else who're just scattered across the US.

Reach's new MM structure (searching for matches in your region) will help A LOT, but it won't do anything in customs when people from all walks of the Earth join in one room every Saturday, just sayin'.

You guys use an ocean to hide behind! Take a voyage to lands afar and see your host advantages lost in a sea of ginger hair!

When the UN finally builds that under-water train tunnel that goes from the east coast of the US to Europe, you will see me.

I noticed your post. I'm definitely looking forward to it. Now we're just missing a Turf remake/re-imagining.

Honestly, I don't really want any remakes in Reach, though I'm sure there will be some. I just want a more robust map editor (which I think is coming). After that, we'll get all the remakes we want.
If they actually remake the maps and don't change up the jump distances, landscape, and so on, such as they did for Lockout, it won't be a problem. Sidewinder to Avalanche was ok, but the map design for Avalanche was still iffy. That's on Bungie and how they truly want to remake a map. I want something like Blood Gulch to Coagulation. Halo needs more larger maps, and Halo 3 was certainly falling short of that.

As for a map editor, I want a true map editor. But if we're getting something that simply can swap weapons, spawns, and grenades, what's the point? Some maps like Foundry and Sandbox can be OK, but they'll still all look the same and for some part, play the same. Giving advanced options to change scenery would be fantastic, and give the map a mood and personality.

Valhalla would be awesome with jetpacks. Remake Valhalla, Bungie!
Ew.

I'm going to try and play some more Halo 2 for the next month if possible. Busy schedule prevents me from doing many things, however. Would love to see a Saturday or two devoted to H2 instead of H3.

A 343/HaloGAF humpday would be easy to put together. Voc, Cocop, and Frankie are already here. They could just pull a hobo off the street and call it a team.

Had fun with Laszlo this afternoon on Throwback and 1v1.

Someone added my GT 'Cuban Legend' and by force of habit I accidentally Denied the request, resend?

Yea, I was talking to some of my friends the other day who don't even really play Halo too much and they admitted that jetpacks seemed really stupid for Halo. I'm not sure how Bungie is going to keep the flow of the game the same while having people flying through the air and shit. Jump boots would be much more badass and wouldn't break maps.

After seeing screens and thinking about it a bit, a Headlong remake seems somewhat plausible. It's on Reach and there is a lot of construction equipment. Jetpacks would also work fairly well on Headlong, too.
Bring back da Headlong!!!:D

A lot of people are excited about the jetpack introduction. I'm up in the air about it (no pun intended...okay maybe it was). My first thought when I saw people flying around in the multiplayer trailer was "sitting ducks." But I'm sure the jetpacks will have plenty of uses. I might even say they will be ideal for getting away from bad melee matchups, and quick jumps to ledges that aren't reachable by a normal jump to escape gun fire through a door or behind a wall. They willl probably give you an advantage on getting to power weapons quicker on some maps as well.

I'm thinking that it's gonna be hard to balance out the different abilities. Currently, I see most people using the cloaking ability, which means most games will see constant radar jamming lol. This could be fun since I prefer no radar to begin with.

Totally. The problem with map remakes is that each new Halo game reworks the game physics and weapon strengths, so that the remade map may look similar, but plays completely different. Tombstone in Halo2 was a disaster imo. Without a pistol that could shoot across the map and grenades that could be launched across the map, it was painful to play. Instead of instantly being able to shoot people up from where you spawn, the map became more of a chore of running across the map to be able to get into range to shoot people. It did not play the same at all as the original Hang'em High. And for that reason I'm always skeptical about map remakes. Coagulation had vehicles and teleports, which made getting around substantially easier, and that's probably why the remake worked better. I can see Headlong working in this respect too.

I'm really hoping for changeable scenery. Please please please! Additionally, I am not fond of the maps with no true boundaries. On sandtrap, it's more annoying to me that there are no true topographical boundaries and people can cheat the borders of the map.

What Frank means here:

In the pregame lobby, before any play starts, someone from Bungie says "okay, let's play a warmup game."

If Bungie loses - that's exactly what it was... a warmup game.

If Bungie WINS, though, it becomes the first of the three Humpday games.

Oh snap, we had dudes from another country playing in there too? Now it's all starting to make sense why the lag was so bad. We need technology to hurry up and evolve so this crap doesn't happen, and so that a community as large as ours can play a lag free game! I can see it now when I'm 40 years old and telling my kids about the days when there was this thing called "lag" that ruined online games, and enabled people like Nutter to brag all the time about how good he was.

Sorry I missed your post asking about it!

Lockout 3 plots was one of the best things ever.

I'm fairly confident that the only community of players out there that could beat HaloGAF's best would be the MLG community.

Watching 60min on CBS about these twin tennis doubles players. Pretty crazy stuff. Anyways, they were just playing Halo 3. Their father chucked their nintendo down a cliff when they were young, so they say they are making up lost time.

Did they show the screen? I was listening to the audio while unpacking. Gotta know if those brothers were BR men or not.

I'll be on after The Amazing Race if anyone wants to play. I need to redeem myself. Last time I played Halo was the day before spring break. Alcohol + ranked games = many many many many many losses :/

(The CappedInSilence guest on red team was really not on red team. And the PiNkpiLLowZz who doesn't have a DNF next to his name did, in fact, not finish.)

Social Slayer, Team Duals, almost nobody vetos. I cry.

Game starts, the party of 3 on our team quits out immediately.

I figure, the other guy on my team is a Colonel, we might have a chance. He plays until the score's about 20-18, then quits. (He was -4 at the time.) I'm thinking, 5-on-1 with no long-range weapons? I'm screwed.

Heh. Except I won. :)

Someone in the last couple of pages said the smg tears people up. He was so, so right... (Of course, grenades don't hurt...)

Yea last night was definitely fun. I started off rough because I'm always in the 4v4 MLG mode lol, but then I started to pick it up later on. Those bonus point matches were actually pretty fun, especially The Pit one.
