Lol, yea. I had enough for two games (well technically three games - I got a $10 game from Steam) in my budget and ODST was on sale ($10 off) so I decided to get that because Reach looked awesome (the exact thought process that went into my head).

Well, the most interesting parts were always playing as the Rookie. It was a nice departure from normal Halo. I didn't like the reasons the ODSTs could and couldn't do certain things (they couldn't use equipment or dual wield but they could pull turrets out from the ground and use them as weapons?). My understanding is that they didn't have the ability to use equipment or dual wield because they were ODST, but are they strong enough to rip turrets from the ground and still use them?

The story was a little better (it was a little bit more mysterious, kind of reminiscent of Halo: CE's campaign) but I didn't really care for some of the story plot points.

Overall, I liked it more than Halo 2 and 3's campaign, but it was still a far cry from the original Halo.

Btw, I understand you guys want balanced teams for your customs, but how will you guys get better if you dont play the better team :O, so no more balancing teams out. I would like Omlet and Thermite plus all the TJ's to be on one team for just old time sake. [p.s you can keep tashi, he isnt much of a threat :p ] Also if you guys were complaining about host advantage in 3 customs, cant wait till you guys see the advantage in 2. :lol

Heh, I dont remember team balance ever even being brought when I was on last night.

As for getting better by playing better people, you're absolutely right. There is, however, a tipping point at which the skill difference is too great and one team just ends up dying too fast, in too many different ways to actually learn anything from it.

Not saying that would happen, just some multiplayer skill-building food for thought.

Maybe the prize people get for playing Halo 2 on it's last day/night is an equivalent of BXR for the DMR in Reach. I mean, Bungie is touting Reach as the definitive Halo experience from them.

Hot on the heels of the LIVE team's restoration of the temporary offlineness of the DLC Map Packs for Halo 2, our own digital guru, Roger Wolfson, aka The Wolf, is ready to weigh in with one of his own rabid and nefarious plans.

Not only are we gonna give Halo 2 the send off it needs and deserves on April 14th, but Roger's gonna make participation worth your while should you happen to be planning on picking up Halo: Reach. Read on to learn more.

"You've already heard that we're planning to send Halo 2 out with a bang, but it remains to be seen if we're talking about a jolly New Year's Eve party favor bang, a SPNKr-hits-your-Banshee bang, or something more galactic like The Big Bang. So to make things interesting, we're going to give out a couple of party favors.

First up: Guess the final game number! You have one week to send a Private Message to the Bungie.net user, GuessTheGame. The subject of your communiqué should simply be a number, such as 802670688, and nothing else.

Editor's Note - Since we expect a large volume of participants, failure to comply will result in instant elimination. Because we're mean like that.

On Monday, February 22nd, we'll take note of the most recent valid submission per user and stop accepting new guesses. Then whenever the data stops flowing in the middle of April, we'll ask Bungie's own RocketMoose to see what the very last recorded game was, and declare the winner to be whoever was closest to that number without going over.

For reference, the number in question is what you see at the end of URLs like this:

Each game we record gets the next number in sequence. You can look at all the past games to get a feel for the current trend, and then guess what you think will happen in the next two months.

Meanwhile, there's also a contest to be won for *playing*! Whoever gets the winning point (Kill, capture, etc.) in the very last valid, complete Halo 2 matchmade game to be recorded by our stats server snags this contest.

We've joked that the prizes for winning would be that we'll unlock Recon in Halo 2 for you, but that would just be mean. Instead, we'll be offering something even better. Way better. For now, we're gonna keep it under wraps due to its top secret nature, but trust us, you want to win. You need to win.

And last up, we want to give you the chance to show the world in years to come that you're a veteran of Halo 2. We can't promise yet what this badge of honor will look like, but we're currently thinking along the lines of a special commemorative emblem option in the Reach lobby, next to your name, in the spot we currently use for showing that you registered on Bungie.net. Who knows what else we'll think of? But to do this, we need you to actually play a game of Halo 2 online using the LIVE account you want to use for Reach. Lots of you have a different account on your Xbox 360 than you had back in the days of Halo 2, so you should make sure that you can visit the following page with your current gamertag, and see at least one game listed in the Halo 2 tab:

I brought my xbox but I didn't even think to bring Halo 2 with me :\

Is it part of games on demand? I am trying to think how I could make this work so I can play some Halo 2 with you guys that night.

A bit sad about missing customs, but a xbl friend asked if I wanted to do a coop playthrough of ODST, and I never say no to that. :D Sorry about ignoring the invites some of you guys sent my way. Looking forward to halo 2 customs with gaf.

I'll try to be online on Halo 2 for the last weekend and Wednesday. I've got about 8000 Halo 2 matches under my belt. It is my duty to answer the call for one last time. Good memories, sniff.

They were great maps, man, there's always a learning period.

Haven't played Halo 2 in FOREVER. I'm excited to play Saturday. I might be working Wednesday though. :/

Really? I know Microsoft accidentally pulled the Xbox 1 content (or was it just Halo 2?) off the servers but that was meant to be done on the date the servers would shut down.

Go into Download Content anyway.. You'll the 4 (I guess) map pakcs there.

I guess I can try again, but I tried it twice and got the same "No Content Currently Available" warning twice

Edit: Same thing. I'm obviously doing something wrong.

I don't have any H2 games played with this gt, does that make a difference?

Maybe Microsoft pulled them out, AGAIN? I have no Xbox right now so I can't test it.. would be nice if somebody else tried it.

EDIT: No, I don't think it makes any diference at all.

Ok Gui, I asked a friend to check for me, and he said all four DLC are there.. and when on the Xbox Live menu, there's and "arrow"after Download Content, indicating that there's new DLC available.

It's very strange that you can't see it.. Maybe Microsoft disabled the option for new purchases.

Well I went to play some Just Cause 2 yesterday and my xbox got the E74 error, first time since I bought it 2 years ago. So I can't get in on any Halo 2 action. :(

But at least it died before the beta, so it should be fine when I get it back. Would of sucked if it would of happened right before the beta started, I would of had to go out and pick up an arcade unit or something.
