Aww you're breaking my heart
I just don't know what to say about Valhalla. I don't like it. You really have no options when a team is controlling the middle. Sure, you can try and sneak off to the left or right, but not before they all see where you're going. And the left and right paths don't have any true protection from a group standing atop the middle section. I prefer secondary and even tertiary routes to keep good teams honest. Heck, I just like big maps that don't have any true control points, think Waterworks and Headlong. Even Coagulation was better about this with teleporters porting you into true protected areas. Additionally, I've had enough of the man-cannons. Sure they're fun to launch vehicles from, but I think they are unnecessary. I prefer traditional teleporters.
Valhalla might not be the best designed map in the world from a purely map maker point of view, but I have had a LOT of fun on it. I also find that when playing with friends its actually fairly easy to take top mid back just in a direct assualt, not that ide try it with randoms :lol
I think that 'cliff' adds a bit of the sneakiness to the map, there have been countless moments were ive been fighting for top mid, almosty died, dropped down into the river and snuck around. Although this really does require you to have the Sea base.
As for Guardian, it really is one of the only maps you can play FFA on in Halo 3, I just dont like Heretic/ Blackout and non of the other maps seem close to being suited to FFA
Added to this is the fact that we mostly play Sniper FFA's, Guardian has a good mix of close quarters and long lines of sight.
Halo 2 next week!?? I will be there, can Eurogaf get a early start this time, I dont want to stay up too late.
