If I recall correctly, all of the Spartan IIs were down on Reach with the exception of John, Linda and James.

Halo has always been full of space marine cliches, robbing Aliens' style whole cloth, even more than other shooters. I don't understand why they wouldn't continue in this tradition, especially as Reach is a very militarized world.Falt said:One minor annoyance though. Heavy Spartan "Tough Guy", skull helmet, knife sharpening. Talk about cliche. If the knife is actually in the game then I'll eat my words but knife sharpening, really!? It's about as cliche as cigar chewing military men.
Aww man, I love flashlights in games. Give me a good, realtime lighting engine, a flashlight, and I'm sure to enjoy your game. Don't care for night vision, thermal vision, or the ODST VISR mode; I just want more flashlights.Rad Agast said:You know, I really want Bungie to do one thing regarding the game play in Reach. Since both Spartan IIs and apparently Spartan IIIs have an improved eye sight and can see in the dark, I want to have the option of not using a flash light. Just have the screen switch to some sort of low light vision mode or some thing.
It didn't bother me during Halo CE, 2 or 3 since I haven't read any of the books at the time but after reading the Fall of Reach, I started wondering why the hell is John using a flash light in the games.
Agreed. Just let us, in some way, put it into the MP game. Even if it only shows up in customs.MagniHarvald said:I don't have any hopes for the particular pistol in the trailer, just that they'll include the real M6D in the map files to place in Forge 2.0, or that we'll be able to make it ourselves (weapon editor, do it Bungie!)

Isn't there something inherently stupid about painting a "cool" skull design over the external layer of your HUD/visor with a white marker? I don't see how it would even work with a lexan face plate in todays world, let alone a super advanced electronic hud system from teh futar. Admittedly it is a timelessly immature canon exclusive motif :lol
Other than that patter, I'm getting a distinct Halo Of The Rings feel here, similar to the direction Epic went with Gears 2. Curious to see gameplay and any changes to mechanics, if any, as well as the map scale. They hint at larger areas in that short video, but some of the very linear single player levels from H3 were substantially larger than the MP maps to the point of it being kind of ludicrous, so who knows if they will even exercise that benefit.

The spartans in the trailer are all new characters called the noble team. And yes there is always a chance of possible run ins, just not with master chief because he is long gone.Exypher said:I see, thanks. So there should be around 30 Spartans on the ground I guess? Are the Spartans in the trailer part of Red Team or are they a seperate unit?
I wonder if you come across any other Spartan teams during the game, would this be possible according to canon?
Because its a clear face plate. Unless the spartan managed to somehow rig the helmet to go opaque in different colors to make that image, it would be pretty stupid to paint over the part you look through. Not a Jellyfish said:Why are people acting as if they have never heard of war paint? Come on the guy isn't painting that skull to be cool it is to strike fear in his foes and it is a bad ass and really great form of psychological warfare. Things like that give soldiers an extra edge over their enemies, even if it is only in their head.

Edit: Ignoring any future tech, if you wanted to have warpaint it would be something around the visor of the helmet, not on it.
Captain Blood said:The skull looks like it has been scratching into the visor, it definitely doesn't look like paint to me.
Do you ever get to come out of time out in the avvy department or are you banished forever? It is times like this were I would be way bummed if I couldn't express me hype via avatar.BladedExpert said:Yeah, Shishka even said it's not paint a few pages back.
There has been discussion of semi-canon stuff before, but I do not think Fall of Reach was included.-Yeti said:Reading some of the posts in this thread, I can't help but ask you guys if you're even taking into account that the canon from the novel "The Fall of Reach" isn't even official Halo canon. (Well, I think I remember Bungie saying that. Correct me if I'm wrong) For all we know, Bungie could be making up their own story for Halo Reach.
Agreed, I was just wondering about this when I saw Bladed's post.Captain Blood said:Do you ever get to come out of time out in the avvy department or are you banished forever? It is times like this were I would be way bummed if I couldn't express me hype via avatar.
It's Reach's moon.DD-11 said:At 1:55 in the trailer, does anyone know what that arch thing is in the background on the left side of the screen?
Right after the Pillar of Autumn escapes Reach. Who knows what happens to these SPARTANs.Rad Agast said:Halo Combat Evolved starts right after they escape Reach.

In fact, I'm looking forward to any ODST elements that they put into Reach. Hub/Open World aspects, Battle Net AI, etc.

Hit me up, I've been looking for people to play L4D2 with. Though I'm a little overwhelmed by how good you guys may be having played L4D so much.Shake Appeal said:And yet I only played L4D1/2 with you that one time.

It's a prequel to the Bungie Halo games yes, in a sense.TrAcEr_x90 said:I like the halo series, but damn, i can not for the life of me ever remember what happend in the games story, alot of go here and shoot this. Maybe because i always did co op I didn't pay a ton of attention to whats goin on. So this game is a prequel all current halo games? Was master chief the only spartan left during these games or there are others out there?
