There's a few. The Iso-Didact, Chants-to-Green, and anyone else who was on the Ark when the Array was set off. Their armor can apparently keep them alive indefinitely, so they're presumably still out there somewhere.
Well I didn't know that. That happened in one of the Greg Bear books I assume?

It seems ridiculous to me that we're getting potential lore megatons in the form of

- Blue Team reunited with Chief
- All of Blue Team may die
- The fucking Didact may die

All within a low-budget satellite comic. By the way, have they clarified how (escalation)
Chief got past Didact's constraint field to wound him?

Is this supposed to be the same Didact from Halo 4? I understand that there are/were at least 2 in the lore...

edit: I guess it is. I just need to give up on the lore outside of the game. The only reason I bother at all it to keep up discussion in this thread.

The Didact is more cold blooded in the comics ....

I also got confused since is a fully shielded helmet even without the shields

Helmets, how did it work.

I would be much more inclined to watch Halo story expansion from my xbox than to pay money for a poorly drawn comic. I'd pay upwards of $6.99 for a 10-15min episode.

That's a weird number to pull out of your butt. Why pay anything? Tell the story in the game like you should. No extra crap.

She is also supposed to be Mary Jane Watson in the next amazing spiderman movie.

Had to google her too (getting old). She's the most basic bitch I ever seeeeeeeen. Give me Stoya.

I'd argue that 4 doesn't necessarily set him up as any sort of long-term villain. From a games-only perspective, the Didact could just as easily have died when he fell into the Slipspace portal.
Chief personally knifing him a few days later wouldn't really change the outcome of him never showing up again.

If 4 did set up any new long-term threats, it'd be the possibility of a Forerunner resurgence in general, rather than something limited to the Didact.

FTFY. But you're right, 4 did a lousy job of setting up a long term villain. Maaaaaybe ONI could be the villain/evil enterprise? That's the only other one I can think of, but if that's true then I just don't get why they would bring the Forerunners back from the dead if they or the Didact weren't going to be the main villain.

Suddenly spiderman's webs becomes whiter and stickier.

People keep saying that, but I don't think it's going to be that important in the long run. Maybe Blue Team dies; that would suck for those of us who follow the EU, but nobody else would notice. The Didact, for all his personal power and lengthy history, is assumed dead by the general population. Killing him off in the comics wouldn't matter either. This entire thing could end up being totally self contained.

Is the Didact really assumed Dead?
Did most people not note that he fell into a slipspace thing?

He's alive like I assumed many expected after completing Halo 4. I would have guessed people expected to encounter him again at some point in the trilogy (erm, saga).

If a figure as important as the Didact has the rest of his story played out in comics that most people won't ever read, I'd be kind of disappointed.

I'm halogaf's top-tier lore whore, but I have to imagine Halo 4's finale was pretty easily interpreted as "never found a body," bare minimum. In most CoD campaigns you usually knife / nuke / whatever the resident bad guy so I'm sure it raised a few eyebrows - that, and the Didact's ending narration.

It's not super clear. I was confused when at the halo 3 ending too. Who knows what that thing was.

Now you get it.

In Halo 5 the Didact will have an eye patch and talk like a pirate and he will team up with one armed Covenant Halsey and they will ride a gray metal pirate ship into battle.
Both will die in the climax but then the villain of Halo 6 will be the half breed child of Halsey and Didact and his name will be Donald.

After years of trying to care about the expanded Forerunner lore I still just can't. It's overly complicated, it uses weird counter-intuitive names for people / places / events that I can never keep track of, and the connections it has to the present day drama of the UNSC, Covenant, and Flood are only mildly interesting. The Forerunners were so much better as a mysterious background prop. Like, sooooo much better.

Edit : And Master Chief being genetically destined to save the galaxy cheapens his character so much. Man, I really don't like new Halo fiction much.

Greg bears novels are pretty great. They only barely tie into the current day stuff.

You don't even know how great of a character Donald will be. He flirts with the girl at Jamba Juice every time he goes there before a battle.
I'd play it.

The Halo story as strayed to far from its roots for me to even make an attempt of understand it or like it. It started off fairly simple and interesting. Mostly geared towards the Halo rings and the fight to control them amidst a flood infection. They should have left the Forerunners a mystery.

Another issue is there are a lot of new characters that are completely forgettable and are important to the new saga. I can not become invested in a story if the characters are shit.

I know Frankie & Co always repeat that the comics aren't needed to understand Halo 5, but I'm starting to worry.

Pretty easy to see why Frankie thinks this:

It's all a UNSC simulation to make sure that Chief is still good for active duty. It was all a DREAMMMMM

I don't know if you could fit a story like they're trying to tell in a FPS videogame that wouldn't be full of more animatics that actual gameplay. It may not be totally integral to the story inside the game, but it still would be cool to see in animated form (like from Blur Studios or Axis Animation). Of course I'd rather it be free, but I'm also willing to pay artists who make stuff I like.

Give me Stoya.
They'd be screwing so much that he wouldn't have the time to be Spider-man, just a naked masked dude fucking on a ceiling.

Actually, brb, gonna go pitch a porn idea to Stoya.

The current story beats are really not that complicated.

I'm fairly sure that scene was in reference to someone with MC's qualities, not specifically MC. I think the Librarian, when she said "you" she was referring to the Spartans IIs in general. Or maybe she wasn't and MC is Shepard.

Will the circle, be unbroken?

The way they're being disseminated is.

How so? They are trying to cater to different markets, and people who enjoy different things. There are plenty of books, and you can likely get by with whatever they put in the game, but they don't want to make the comics just feel like they mean nothing.

When they committed to relevant story bits in all mediums, they can't just have throwaway stories. If you don't want to buy the comics, or get it when it is all compiled, then I'm sure there will be a recap somewhere in the game, MCC or H5.

This is what happens when you have an EU that actually matters.

Hai guys! I'm now the proud owner of an xbox one kinect sensor, but without the xbox one. I can't figure out why it doesn't do anything when I say, "xbox on."

Is it just me or are the bolds / italics of the GAF typeface fucking up right now? The bolds are too thick and the italics are too slanted.

Let's test this...
EDIT nope, don't think anything is different. You on mobile or PC? Browser of choice?

EDIT2 after staring at the bolded part for a moment, it does look bolder than it has been. Hmm. Perhaps some behind the scenes change like the time when Evilore tweaked the font size and everyone freaked out?

Like this?

EDIT: Fine on my end.

So are the comics worth spending money on? Or is there a way I can just read summaries?

Kind of a mixed bag. On the one hand, the writing ranges from low mediocre to generally good, but the art is always, ALWAYS terrible. I'd recommend going with the synopsis.
