This was one of those spur of the moment, "make from begining to end in 24 hours" kind of things. And yes, it's supposed to be very B-movieish, including the "acting."

So yeah, I expect pretty polarized reactions from this.

But the music (original, using loops from Apple's Soundtrack) makes me want to find people who would actually want to put effort into an Illbleed short.

This is also just the first half... the second half (assuming my lazy friends tape it) is going to be drastically different in style.

wow. I thought I have seen the worst movie ever when I saw a free sneak preview of "Surviving Christmas", but this takes the cake.

That was a bit weird but entertaining :) I think you should have made a better costume for that dude. I like the camera angles.

Cow, your server rocks. WTF are you running, OC3 ? I was getting like 600kb/s download. However, the file format does not match the extension!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll try running Gspot on it. Nope, no good.

I don't mean to alarm you but you have dogs on your face
lmao, was that a picture of Bill o'reilly on the box?

Kinda entertaining, and I liked the sound effects, but yeah the guy should have a better costume.

It's a Windows Media Video file...

I'm getting a really weird unwatcheable image with BSplayer, windowsmediaplayer works fine though.

Oh and the movie is pretty cool, the soundeffects are very...maniacal and the bad-guy reminded me of Silent hill 2.

A couple of technical annoyances -

Don't do your films in black and white.

During the scene with the headlights, you could see the camera's shadow on the character's face.

Other than the above two comments, everything else was great! :) The atmosphere was campy, the music was chilling, and that scene with the car headlights was visually appealing.

Good work, can't wait to see part two :D

1. It's black and white on purpose to make it more campy and like an old horror film

2. That's "the corrugator's shadow." ... um... *cough* :p

But thanks for the comments.

Well, if it was to make it look campy, then I can understand the black and white.

The reason I pointed it out is because black and white is a horrible trend that's growing among student filmmakers, because -

A) They think it will make their film look artsy

B) They want their film to look like Clerks :p

Yeah, I could make a laundry list of little nitpicks but I know you guys were just fucking around, so it's great if you take it at that.

Just curious, though: how drunk/high were you guys when you decided to do this? :)

Well, the list might be good because even though we were fucking around, maybe I could learn something from it, so if you want, feel free to share.

And none of us were drunk/high while making it.

The original idea came to my friend while taking a shit, but it didn't involve a cardboard box monster at all, just a killer outside who we see through the window.

He told me that core idea, and I, as always, just ran wild with it and completely fucked around with it.

Student filmmakers have trouble doing color, at first. And if you shoot movies in black and white, it let's the audience focus more on the characters rather than the scenery. It's not merely an artistry/homage video treatment.

Black and white is much harder to pull off, especially in terms of how the shot is lit, so I think color is better for students to use. Just my opinion of course :)

Well given that I was also trying to give it a bit of a noirish look as best I could given just headlights and the porch light, I think black and white helped in that sense as well.

The black and white also helped for the Corrugator's POV shots because those were shot in nightvision, and then changing nightvision to black and white made the colors even darker and more eerie, like there was impending doom.
