Harmonix announces new RB DLC: Arctic Monkeys, Avenged Sevenfold and Foo Fighters

Been thinking what bands they haven't really had much songs for, or ones they never got. I could think of these:

Pink Floyd
Led Zeppelin
Black Sabbath
Rolling Stones
Muse
Smashing Pumpkins
Metallica

Plus tons of hits that are staples to rock music like Blinded by the Light etc.

Muse needs to never come to a potential new game for the sake of keeping a good joke alive.

All kidding aside, it was a shame that RB DLC ended when it did, since the GH contracts were in the process of expiring at the time. That's how we got Aerosmith just before the end, and I imagine they would have pounced on the Metallica stuff in an instant.

It's already here and it's called Rocksmith.

This is awesome. I'm not expecting weekly DLC but hopefully this opens the door back up for monthly. I've been with c3 every week for the customs, but will support hamonix tomorrow by buying everything.

Can't wait!

C3 works on the wii right? Computer too?

Harmonix was careful with their bands for Rock Band.

A lot of artists were deliberately skipped to eventually capitalize on them as their own game. Additionally other songs were held back specifically to use as disc songs for mainline games.

They planned it out for a long while. That means they're primed for RB4 to be a good mix.

I just wonder if they missed the boat for Muse and other bands that aren't as super hot as they were 3 years ago. Or if the genre would have died regardless of the songs/games released.

It's possible that it's a manufacturing error and the chips inside the drums were meant for a guitar. Sounds crazy, but the QA for Rock Band instruments was always a bit... notorious.

When I hook it up to a computer and the closest thing to rock band for it (phase shift) the game recognizes it as drums fine and they work well. I'm just not about pirating the songs to play them through PC.

A rather popular Muse song was used in the advertising for GH:WoR, and that didn't amount to a whole lot for Activision.

I hope if we can't use old instruments that either Guitar Hero comes back or new Rock Band guitars are like Guitar Hero guitars. The Rock Band guitars were so big and mushy, made playing a chore.

Next Gen Rockband complete with a subscription service would kick ass.

Hm, now that would be awesome. To the Harmonix gods reading this, I would gladly, gladly pay for a Rock Band subscription service. Give me access to the entire catalog of DLC for a monthly fee, and you can expect a check from me every month until the end of the generation. Also, please make it WiiU compatible, too. I'll probably pick up another console sooner or later, but it would be super convenient if I could have my most played game of the last generation on my most played console of this generation.

I really hope the next RB title is called Rock Band Reunion Tour.

And this would be an awesome name for it. I feel like marketing for a Rock Band revival would be so easy. "We're getting the band back together."

edit: If Rock Band comes back to life, is RBGAF allowed to come back, too?

I don't like any of them bands but it's very cool that they're doing more stuff. I played the hell out of Rock Band/RB2. If they released a Rock Band for the current gen consoles I would pick it up for sure.

W-what? Could this mean I might have reason to dust off the ol blasphemous plastic guitars? Did I suddenly fall into a hole that took me back to 2007?

Welcome back, Harmonix.

I know of the songs they did release they were very fun on drums.

Agreed. Wasn't (and still aren't) a fan of A7X before I played the DLC pack but I always had a good time playing drums or singing for Almost Easy.

Yep. The Rev (the former drummer of A7X before he died) was amazing. His drumming was always top-notch.

Too bad the guy they got to replace him is extremely dull in comparison.

Arctic Monkeys is one of the stupidest band names ever.

Rock Band 3 and Disney Fantasia Music Evolved are the only reasons my 360 (and kinect for that matter) are still hooked up.

CAN'T WAIT TO PLAY THESE TOMORROW!!!

Huh well that's unexpected. I have been enjoying the plentiful of songs that C3 puts out on weekly basis including the extensive Muse library there. But I will stop using them if Harmonix makes RB games/songs again.

I really want a next gen Rock Band on one hand. On the other hand, my entire DLC track catalog is on the 360, but I went PS4 this gen, so I'd lose several hundred bucks worth of songs.

I guess meanwhile, I'll take some new RB3 songs.

Harmonix should try and release a digital version of RB3. Drop any song that they couldn't license for digital/too expensive and put it out there for $30-$40.

Had no idea RB3 on PS3 went for $40+ used, if I spend that kind of money on a game like this I'd much rather have it on my system 24/7 than anoter disc.

They have a digital vrersion of RB3. At least on 360. It has all of the songs on the disc for, I think, $20.

Out of all the songs on "AM" they picked "R U Mine?"

I knew that would be the choice when I read the title but goddammit I really wanted another Arctic Monkeys song. This House Is A Circus, Knee Socks, Brainstorm, something more.

Naw, they picked the right one. It's no Brianstorm but it'll be fun to play.
