Has senility finally caught up with Yamauchi? Amazing interview!

I searched for "Jack Gleason" on the Wired website. The article says he's been freelancing since 2002, but the site doesn't spit back any results.

He may have been working under his pseudonym, Artemis Carney.

I´m not that confident of the article to be fake .

I´m spanish and I´ve been looking some forums this interview and it seems that lots of people think that the articcle is true.

Ah, true or not, it's hilarious :)

They nailed down Yamauchi pretty well. Sure, a few things are a wee bit extreme, but (some personal reflection aside, I doubt he would mention the VB) there is nothing in there Yamauchi wouldn't have said :)

I'm going to go out on a crazy, hunch of a limb here, and suggest that Yamauchi would probably not say "Suck my tiny yellow balls." Just sayin'.

He's a crazy Japanese businessman, not South Park character. I can't even fathom somebody thinking the article is real with that pull-quote...

(Although, it should be said, Yamauchi on South Park would be mind-blowing.)

Well of course Jackie Gleason was a popular comedian in the 40s and 50s. He played Ralph Kramden on the Honeymooners, and was well known for his ad-libs.

Yeah, I think it says a lot about the gullibility of people if they actually consider this to be real.

I mean if nothing else, forget the obviously over the top comments, I think the fact that he seems to take credit for the Virtual Boy is one of the biggest red flags ;).

This is 2nd best gaming-related fake ever, if you ask me, and by far the most amusing. First best being that Super Mario GBA game that looked too good to be true, but amazing in every way.

Yeah, I love those April Fools' jokes that fool absolutely nobody.
Few people in this very thread thought it was real, and some still hope it is. :lol

Hell, I thought it was real for a good while before it started getting too weird even for the old Yamauchi. Then I looked at the illustration again and realized it's a photoshop filter-work, and something poorly resembling Wired's illustrations.

*edit* Also, there has never even been a valid confirmation that MS tried to buy Nintendo, much less of a meeting he described :lol

I haven't read the interview yet, but who in their right mind could possibly conceive this to be real with the 'little yellow balls' quote?

You guys crack me up. Just sayin'

I can easily imagine Yamuchi saying all those things and far worse. When the time comes, I can imagine him telling the Grim Reaper (and I don't mean Manny Calavera) to suck his tiny yellow balls.

Actually I believe Arakawa has gone on record as saying Microsoft did make an offer on Nintendo and he relayed that offer back to NCL or something like that.

Yeah. But it wouldn't be unimaginable for someone else to be named Jack Gleason.

You're right! You ARE a Nintendo fanboy.
That was BS!
