Feel like she should have been further forward so she could have appeared to be more "with" the band. Band felt like the frontrunner, but all that might just be due to the constraints of the stage.

Could also be that the stage lighting would cause too many issues with the screen. They need to keep everyone else lit while keeping the screen area dark.

There's not only multiple Applause signs that flash loudly, but there's also a guy that warms the audience up before the show...saying they really should participate and stuff like that. I wouldn't be surprised if the producers mixed in a bit of pre-recorded applause here and there as well.

There is always going to be applause no matter how awkward.
