The song had a nice musical track at least, but yes, the vocals could have been better. Hatsune Miku, in English, just doesn't work as well. :/

Even still, that was surreal seeing it on TV.

Was she singing english or japanese? I couldn't make out any of that. I wish that had gone better but I'd still take it over Girl's Generation's terrible performance.

God these jokes are physically hurting me

Also did you guys already see it?? Its just starting for me and hes talking about pizza tracker...

What the fuck is this?

When the lights went up and you could see the glass she was projected on, my mind broke. That's actually a pretty good effect, I'll give it that. Feel like she should have been further forward so she could have appeared to be more "with" the band. Band felt like the frontrunner, but all that might just be due to the constraints of the stage.

Good crowd reaction too. No awkward silence like I feared.

And now you know why there are Applause signs!

To be honest, I was hoping for more awkwardness. In my dreams, there's a post-song segment with Miku on a second screen by Letterman's desk and they have hilariously awkward stage banter. But I guess everyone involved is too much of a professional to do something dumb like that.

This was the first step in Hatsune Miku taking over North America. Next, is the Expo. Then, the world.

I, for one, welcome my new Hatsune Miku overlord.

Could also be that the stage lighting would cause too many issues with the screen. They need to keep everyone else lit while keeping the screen area dark.

One thing I noticed: Miku seems taller than everyone else.

There's not only multiple Applause signs that flash loudly, but there's also a guy that warms the audience up before the show...saying they really should participate and stuff like that. I wouldn't be surprised if the producers mixed in a bit of pre-recorded applause here and there as well.

There is always going to be applause no matter how awkward.

That kinda cute. I'm also surprised Letterman didn't seem to be thrown off by her name, or "Vocaloid" or such.

I had closed captions on while she sang... it was kinda hard to follow, even reading the words, lol. But still had to smile all the way through.

Japanese Anime Girl character design on screen with classic older American male who'se been on TV forever, ha. It's like a Culture Clash of every possible way, but that was quite unique to see. Happy I caught that!

And yes, I think the crowd reaction was pretty good, too.
