Hatsune Miku Project Diva series general discussion thread

Take a moment or two of your time to appreciate the horror.

Eh, it'd be nice to have a cross-compatible portable version.
As a owner of dreamy theater 2nd i can safely say that this was quite painfull back in the days.

Since the game is already out in Asia on 25th, the chart for the 10 stars songs (include gekishou of coz) has been put on the net.

F2nd 10 star songs Extreme Chart

Regional restriction on the video .?? dammit.

PV for Knife is a bit disappointing, from what they showed in the preview.

Hope it gets on PSN within the next 10 hours or so so I can play it when I get off work.

Also, I don't get your remark on having to jerk your thumb to reach the touchscreen. The touchscreen and the buttons are so close I can almost trigger both at once with my thumb alone. It's not a stretch at all to do what the game asks me to do, and I don't find it offputting in the slightest.

But mainly, what I'm trying to understand from this argument: how exactly is the touchscreen not a precise input? The Vita's touchscreen is one of the most accurate touchscreens I've ever used; I never have issues with it not picking up input so long as it's not currently attached to a charger, and even though Project DIVA doesn't make use of it at all, I've never had it incorrectly pick up positional inputs. I dare say the touch screen is even more precise input than the cheap rubber membranes of most controllers, which provide almost no physical feedback and often develop sticking issues; and I can't count the number of times I've had a d-pad trigger diagonals completely unbidden.

I think declaring an input method in general less precise is a slippery slope that you'll find very difficult to prove.

There's no feedback like a button. The Vita touch screen is not as smooth of a surface as say an iPhone, there's resistance when swiping (Shield has this issue even worse). All touch screens have issues with sweat or grease on hands (and Miku can get intense). Not all Vita touch screens are made the same, mine has had issues with input since the beginning as have others. The comparison to games with turntables is not apt either. I've been done a good 50+ hours of EZ2DJ in the arcade and that has you actually scratching a surface that you can feel move. You haven't had issues with it, but others have. There's a reason we haven't all switched to dedicated touch screen controllers, just phones.

A lot of it comes down to personal preference, but if I press a button at the right time I know the note will hit. I don't have that assurance when swiping the touch screen, and it's frustrating and makes me dread the stars. There was no excuse for the Vita version not supporting the sticks, and I'm glad 2nd will support it.

(I find the Vita's capactive far less accurate than the 3DS' resistive... Theatrhythm's touch gameplay worked far better)

If you have issue with the touch screen, then perhaps you should take up the issue with Sony. Your Vita might have a bad digitizer.

Got my shipping confirmation too. Probably won't get it this week, EMS packages from Japan usually take about a week to reach me.

To where? EMS has been 1-3 days for me pretty consistently (the one that took less than 24 hours was especially fun), the only exceptions due to weather or being in the middle of the Christmas rush.

11:30 Japan Time? Either staying up late or waiting until tomorrow morning then...

This. I really want to know when it will be released EST so I can download it ASAP. I've been looking around forever to see when the Japanese shop updates but I can't find it anywhere.

Please, someone...anyone...answer this?!

Japan is 13 hours ahead of EDT, so it should be around midnight-1am here. I've had things show up in search as soon as 10pm though. Japan is much more on the ball with PSN updates than any other region, but that basically just means random things can show up via search mad early.

Thank you for the fast reply, I appreciate it!

It's well out of it's warranty date. The touch screen is reasonably accurate but is not perfect for a precision music game. You're the only person I've ever said argue that it's more accurate than a controller, it's really not that good.

All of these details have been posted elsewhere already, but anyway...

Today's Weekly Diva Station post has the full digest video of all 40 songs in the game. As a bonus, a direct feed of the triple-challenge play we saw at Matsuri da Diva is included at the end of the video (where Blackjack was played on Extreme with High Speed, Panic, and Micro Notes enabled).

Also announced is the first F 2nd paid DLC - Neru, Haku, and Teto can once again grace your screens for 571 yen (before taxes). (Previously announced but possibly not posted here was notice that there would be extra AR/Live songs available as free DLC, but will become paid DLC 39 days after the game's release.)

Now, if you've already purchased the three for f/F, you can download their F 2nd counterparts for free. More detail was posted in the PSN thread:

Heads up to anyone on a JP account.

Anyone who bought the Additional Module Set(Neru, Haku, Teto) for Project Diva f/F will also get the Additional Module Set for Project Diva F 2nd for free. The reverse also works

From the wording, the module set for f/F and for F 2nd are different downloads. This is unlike Shinovi Versus DLC where it's the very same data and Dekamori just scans for it. What I'm trying to say is, since they're technically different data, Sega/Sony may not offer the same choice for F 2nd (you might have to buy module set twice if you want it for both game).

The other DLC (Snow Miku costume) for Project Diva f/F will be already included in F2nd. No word for Conveni(ence Store)-Style or the SonyCat collab.

Just to note that this is not included in "the free DLC for 39 days" thing, so you HAVE to buy the set.

今後も「スキン」、「モジュール」、そしてPSP版に収録された名曲を「F」クオリティで「RE・クリエイト」した「リズムゲーム」などを配信予定 ですよー!

^This part confirms that there will also be DLC songs (and skins and modules) for F2nd. I actually wish they just put everything on a new game or something. :/

I wonder if the opposite is true? I didn't buy the extra modules for f but would be more inclined to do so now with F2 if I could pay once and use them back in f too.

I'm not able to read the explanation well enough to know if this is possible. Even the above quote seems to contradict itself in places on this matter.

Sorry, there was missing lines there. I wanted to post it before I slept. Already changed the original post.

What I'm trying to say is, since they're technically different data, Sega America/Europe (or SCEA/SCEE) may not offer the same choice for F 2nd in the US/EU PSN (you might have to buy module set twice if you want it for both game).

Or you can also remove it, just to avoid confusion.

To summarize:
In JP PlayStation Store, buying the Additional Module Set (Neru, Haku, Teto) for f/F should also offer you a free download of the Additional Module Set for F2nd. The reverse is also true: Buy F2nd's Nero,Haku,Teto Set will give you f/F's counterpart set.

They're technically different data/DLC, so Sega America/Europ/SCEA/SCEE may not offer the same stuff when they release the "English" version.

IMO, it's really annoying that they just relegated Haku to a Module.

I want my Bikini Haku.
Or this awesome kimono dress pants. Or kimono pants with kimono top. Or whatever this is.

Yeah the Neru/Haku/Teto module is showing up as free in the store for me, since I bought it for F already. Only a 2.8GB download after all. Pretty compact. 33 minutes left :)

Wait, if the game is only 2.8 GB then why did they split off Edit Mode into a 747 MB add-on?

That really sucks for us importers.

Anyway for those wondering, the current DLC items (all free right now) are:
- Edit Mode (Vita version only, PS3 version is built-in)
- The additional Vocaloid pack
- Tell Your World for Live AR mode
- Odds&Ends for Live AR mode
- A Miku/Luka theme
- A Rin/Len theme

Hm, I certainly hope none of the trophies this time around require Edit Mode then, otherwise it'd then become impossible to get Platinum on my NA account via Vita =(

Game looks MUCH better than f on vita. Menus all look native, but PVs aren't, but are close(er). Much better than the blur fest that was the first game.

Using sticks for stars will take some getting used to. There doesn't appear to be an option for both touch and sticks. Just front/back only or stick only.

Anyone worked out the unlock order yet?
I want the fast track to Uraomote Lovers, Nijigen Dream Fever and Koufuku Anshin Iinkai :)
There doesn't seem to be an order like the old games, so far at least.

You play a song, you unlock the next song. The next song cleared doesn't depend on what you played, it is just the next one in the list.

Edit: so after a bit found out this isn't true. Apparently unlocked songs are appended to the list of available songs, and there are no "locked" spots in the list. So it has the appearance of not having a particular order, but I think it is the same as always.

Also, side effect of having timing calibration on vita: wasting an hour trying to figure out what mine should be calibrated at because I blame all my safes on incorrect calibration. After much trial and error I just don't think I have learned the songs yet. And speed-changing link scratches are evil.

This. It was the first thing I noticed and perhaps the only thing I hoped they would fix. The menus are much better and the characters on them are all higher res too. Really glad they cleaned this up.

Does anyone know how to duplicate saves or make new saves from existing ones?

In project diva f, once I completed normal and hard, I saved the file to a different slot so my wife could have her own save file without going through the tedious unlocking of every song for every difficulty. Well, I tried to make a separate save on f 2nd and it just saves the game without giving me an option on which file to save to...

If I can't save to a different slot with my already completed save, that means I have to play through the game and each difficulty 3 times. One for me, another for my wife, and one for friends that come over to visit (so they don't overwrite my scores or mess with my content).
