Hatsune Miku Project Diva series general discussion thread

Game looks MUCH better than f on vita. Menus all look native, but PVs aren't, but are close(er). Much better than the blur fest that was the first game.

Using sticks for stars will take some getting used to. There doesn't appear to be an option for both touch and sticks. Just front/back only or stick only.

if vaseline mode is off then sega's got a customer for 2nd now

going from crisp Extend to the blurry mess that was f was quite jarring tbh

Does either version run at 60fps?

EDIT: Just tried the PS3 demo. The demo, at least, is still 30fps.

Also tried to see what happened if you try to do double scratches on the F arcade style controller. The game seems to know you're using it, and simply accepts single scratch input for double scratches. This wasn't the case on Dualshock 3, so it's a special exception the game makes for the controller. I don't have a mini controller on hand to see if it exhibits similar behavior.

Good to know. The vita demo from f 2 wasn't much improved compared to f. The game still disable internet connection?

今後も「スキン」、「モジュール」、そしてPSP版に収録された名曲を「F」クオリティで「RE・クリエイト」した「リズムゲーム」などを配信予定 ですよー!

^This part confirms that there will also be DLC songs (and skins and modules) for F2nd. I actually wish they just put everything on a new game or something. :/

To be more specific, it confirms that there will be DLC songs that are remakes of classic songs from the PSP games. I guess this means Rolling Girl at least is basically a given for DLC (It's the only song in the top ten of that poll they did a while back that isn't already in the game).

Good news for me, since I love Rolling Girl but haven't actually played it in a Diva game yet (Extend is the one game I never bought...)

Does 2nd have save transfer between PS3 and Vita? And if it does, I assume the Vita version does not need a separate app anymore, right?

Is anyone having issues downloading the demo (PS3), I'm getting a error message that's along the lines of "You are not eligible to view this content"

Downloaded and played just fine two hours ago...

Managed to download it

I had to go to the webstore, search for project diva and find the demo and queue it from that search result, anything else was giving me that error, then i just went to the download history on PS3 and downloaded it

I only have the vita version (for now) but I see it prompt when it is using the cross save feature and I assume it is uploading my save data to PSN. No separate app. Don't have PS+.

Can be set to auto or manual, it takes a bit longer than a regular save.

I'd like to know more about how the cloud saving works. It just syncs your state without any user intervention? Does everything transfer (score records, DP balance, etc.) or is it more similar to the syncing in f/F (only unlock state)? I assume it requires you to be playing both versions online using the same PSN account... does it require PS+?

No cross-save game has ever required PS+, the cloud storage backup feature of PS+ is a completely separate thing.

Just from playing the PS3 demo and the old Vita demo, it feels like the difference between PS3 and Vita is bigger this time because of the additional star notes. I found them much easier to hit on the Vita.
And maybe this is just because of the demo, but the loading times seem much faster in F2 compared to the first game (on PS3).

Did you install the first game on to your hard drive? That made it insanely quicker for me

So there's a chance we could get Disappearance!? *foams at the mouth*

I wonder why SEGA hasn't released the 3DS games over here :<

Well duh. They wouldn't sell. ;)

Anyone know about when they're planning on releasing a soundtrack for f2? I buy all of them and haven't seen it pop up yet, I supposed they're going to wait a bit.

My retailer doesn't even have the game yet. Too bad importing a store card would take about the same amount of time.

If you get codes by email, most places can get them to you within 24hrs.

f soundtrack came out around 6 months after the vita release, but at the same time as the PS3 release.

Processed Through Sort Facility
ISC NEW YORK NY(USPS)

IT'S ALMOST HERE
(of course there's a delay because the contract unit that hosts my PO Box no longer does the sorting for the local mail, so more than likely it'll be sometime in the afternoon tomorrow and I have to ditch work early to make it there before they close)

I wonder if the opposite is true? I didn't buy the extra modules for f but would be more inclined to do so now with F2 if I could pay once and use them back in f too.

Yeah the Neru/Haku/Teto module is showing up as free in the store for me, since I bought it for F already. Only a 2.8GB download after all. Pretty compact. 33 minutes left :)

I bought the Additional Module Set. And it didn't give me the other for free.

Exact Details:
Vita Store (JP in case it's also out on Asian stores)
Module Set for F2
IIRC, I also clicked from the F2's Live Area's link.
My copy is physical and is R3.

Module Set for f/F still shows up 600Y (and if I click it, it asks for my password and shows it will deduct if I continue on)

Tried mentioning it to Sega's PR person on Twitter (nakanohito)

Edit: Just in case this also happens to you, you might want to buy the Additional Module Pack on the game you want it more.

Not too mad since I bought it for F2 (which has a better system overall).

Edit 2: Added more details. Clicking on the Live Area link on an R3 copy may have something to do with it. It showed up properly on the JP Vita Store, had a fully Japanese product description, and was in yen when I bought it. :/

So I got 2nd today and read there's some free DLC. So my question is, can I get the DLC on my JA account and be able to use that on my US account?

On PS3 yes, on Vita no.

One would presume the cross-save support between the two requires you to be playing both on the same PSN account as well.

Ah good. Got it for PS3 today. Good deal. Love the games though the wife plays them a million times more than I do. Psh.

I think they overdid it with the star/scratch notes :/ I was really looking forward to songs like Envy Catwalk but it feels like an endless scratch - link scratch - double scratch - spam to me. Also those small high speed link-scratch sections often feel a bit out of place.

Can someone please explain what it means if a red ribbon appears in the song list? Bonus DP?

Got ti delivered to my parents and no one was home, so looks like I gotta wait till tomorrow to get it ;_;

the same thing hapenned to me... if i don't get it tommorow , i'm gonna have to wait during the whole week-end ..dammit
I'm still surprised the fedex guy didn't call me , they have my number but ...ah oh well

Exactly. Can't remember whether it said 2x or 3x, but it is extra DP, yeah.

Some observations:
- the loading seems much quicker than f was (comparing Vita versions)
- the remade songs from the PSP are mostly the same PV except for the final sections where they all seem to have new stuff going on
- it sounds like quite a few of the returning songs have been remastered
- the graphics on Vita version look way better all around. In the menus there is less blur, but the PVs also seem to have much better anti-aliasing
- love the extra sounds you can add to double notes, slides, stars, etc. but they're not turned on by default

I am mildly confused as to how the save import feature works. (cross platform, cross region?)

And more importantly how to import it to begin with.

I picked up the Diva f after trying the demo recently and it's super fun! I had zero knowledge of Vocaloid going in, and I still wouldn't say I'm a fan of most of the songs(dat World's End Dancehall tho), but it's just a blast to play. Perfect Vita game too. Will pick up the sequel for sure when it comes out.

And it made me even more thirsty for the Elite Beat Agents sequel we're never getting ;_;

Finally unlocked all songs. Happiness/Piece of Mind Committee is really fun on hard. Two Faced lovers still great too. Having module changes in-song is a really simple thing but does wonders for many songs. Really sucks we can only change Miku's module in Decorator though.

The additional variety in star notes and the ability to use sticks makes me appreciate them a lot more. I don't know how I could go back to f. I really hope if/when there is an F extend, that some songs come back from f and get the F 2nd treatment. They really deserve it.

The loading artwork seems to be higher resolution too, and there is some really great stuff in there, and I have only seen 65% of it.

Also, they finally put out video of IA and it looks really great as well. Great year for vita and rhythm games in general.

HUm my fedex carrier is toying with my mind today .
I'm now forced to call them to tell them to keep the package at their office so i can pick it up myself.
Countdown : H-2

Dammit, why do I have to be stuck in work for another few hours...

Those of you who have the game, do we still have to play through normal and hard difficulties to get to the real game?

Well, I should be finding out shortly :D

The pre-order bonus is huge and nice! would like to see the stand if someone got that from ami ami though.

So, just a question. Should I get Diva F now, or wait for Diva F 2? Will there be any repeats in Diva F 2 from Diva F?

Get it now - there are no repeats and you will get a lot of practice for the second game :)

Is there a way to unlock customization for the guest in Cantarella grace edition?

Depends on what you consider to be the real game. From the start, only easy and normal are available, and more songs open up as you clear them. Clear normal and you get hard, etc.

Booo, I lament playing on normal and hard. I guess I will clear out normal tonight, hard tomorrow, then dish out extreme on sunday.

Apart from the tutorial (Levan Polkka), there are no repeats from F. All returning songs (ie. half of the songs in F 2nd) are from the previous hardware generation.
