Hatsune Miku Project Diva series general discussion thread

The aforementioned swimsuit DLC is live on PSN as of last night, go get it to beat the summer heat!

Gearing up for another showing at Otakon next week. Who am I going to see there?

Just announced on Otakon's Facebook page:

I already got my tickets to Miku Expo NY but I'm still gonna check the tournament out this weekend!

I... I can't believe it.

I thought this would be the last song I'd get a Perfect on... but apparently not. I've still got 3 left to go! The spinning wheel of death in World's End Dancehall is killing me... and I've still got to perfect the 10-star songs. I've gotten pretty close, at least.

You deserve a praise !!

For those who didn't make it to Otakon, the Hatsune Miku Facebook posted some photos. I'm still collecting some video of the event and hope to have a montage of sorts up later this week.

Will probably cut the bit of people not being able to hear my speaking voice and not really making things any better by using a bullhorn.

I know it's unlikely but I really really hope that the cross-save cloud data will be region agnostic, so we can just import our progress from the Japanese version simply by syncing with it.

Not holding my breath though.

I played quite a bit of Diva at Otakon, was wearing a Luka shirt one day and a shirt with a Miku/Luka/Rin ice cream cone design from WeLoveFine... Were you the guy who did the signups for the tournament?

Yes, I was... I was only in the game room a significant amount of time on Saturday though. I was wearing this shirt:

Well this is cool, SEGA will be having a Project Diva panel at JapanExpoUSA later this month.

SEGA is back at Japan Expo this year with a booth and a panel about the Project DIVA series and the upcoming Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA F 2nd!

Sam MULLEN, the North America Localization Producer for the Project DIVA series, will take you through a brief history of series leading up to Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA F 2nd, releasing this Fall.

Planning on going that day, so looking forward to catching this.

It makes sense they would do this, Japan Expo is Sega of America's local con. Sam's a cool guy too. Need to convince him to make an account here in place of Ruby...

Not sure if this has be mentioned yet, but when I talked to the producer he told me that the game [F2nd] will not have any cross buy, but all DLC will be cross buy. Just thought you might like to know.

That sounds right. However, the cloud save feature should work flawlessly between the two versions if you do end up purchasing both.

Just now saw this module being offered with the GameStop preorder of F 2nd:

Almost makes me want to preorder it. Almost. I was planning to buy it digitally just so they'd both be the same. Having F 2nd on my shelf and not F would bug me.

Is something wring with the colours? Looks more lighter than the JP cover?
Compared to this:

I think it's just the images. The System banner color is standardized for all titles, and the color of that PSV image's banner is cyan-tinted blue instead of Ocean Blue.

I would preorder the game... if I could. Damned stores here where I live, they don't take preorders on most games, only the biggest ones :/

Also, I'm in a similar dilemma. I want to buy a Vita and that version of the game... but I don't want to have different boxes for it. Well, at least I know that I need to buy a Vita before that happens :lol

Per Famitsu leaks, two songs will be released as DLC for Project DIVA F 2nd on August 28 for 500 yen each:
  • Aikotoba by DECO*27
  • Sekiranun Graffiti by ryo(supercell)
And two modules for 300 yen each:
  • TYPE2020 (7th Dragon)
  • Shiny
Additionally, Project DIVA.fr claims Kocchi Muite Baby is likely in the pipeline for future DLC, but this remains unconfirmed.

They've never backported a song from Arcade to consoles, have they?
Most of DIVA 2nd's DLC was ports from Arcade (Hoshikuzu Utopia, Time Limit, etc.). extend continued that trend as well (melody...) but f/F went with 100% new content after that.

That particular version of 1/6 appears in AR/Live mode for F though.

mfw I realize 5000 yen won't actually be enough to purchase all the DLC modules and songs as of the set coming this Thursday. Going to be an expensive month.

Good attention to detail for the changes to Sekiranun Graffiti.

I realize now that they decided to bring back the theme songs to the earlier games first. Still, why did this have to be the first task on the DLC list?

I think it's a cute touch in that all the airport codes that appear on labels stuck to the speakers in aikotoba seem to be places they've held a Miku event (e.g., LAX, HKG, TPG, TGA, SHA). They totally need to throw JFK or NWK on there somewhere soon.

Reviewing all DLC for the series, I'm realizing that they have never premiered completely new songs to the series as DLC. All DLC so far has either been old song revivals or ports from Arcade. It seems they prefer using new retail releases to introduce songs new to the series.

Do you think there is any chance of PDF3 being announced this TGS or is it too early?
I'm not expecting it, though it would be a pleasant surprise.

DLC is really hurting my wallet. I'm enjoying the new PV's but no way I can get all the modules. Nice touch that the songs have proper preview art in the song list this time around instead of just "EXTRA".

I've stopped buying F 2nd DLC now that we know that the localization will include translated lyrics display.

F 2nd has been the worst selling Project Diva to date, so I think they'll probably wait a bit before doing a new one.

Still, fingers crossed for a PS4 game that uses arcade assets. Pretty unlikely for now though, the PS4 is not doing well enough in Japan.

Half of Crypton's product line hasn't been updated to the newest Vocaloid engine yet. I would think they will want to show off all the characters to their V3 versions for a next-gen game.

Also, they need enough new, reasonably popular songs to put in the next game, with a sufficiently diverse mix of Vocaloids. Are there any thoughts on whether enough songs have come out in the last few years?

MichieM's last album. Do it.

Yeah, so very little Mitchie M songs have been in a Project Diva game so far (Freely Tomorrow, and what? only one other I think? also the theme song for Project Mirai 2, but that's it)

Which is a damn shame because he's my favorite Vocaloid composer.

I want a "Project Diva: Mitchie M" edition, it would be the "Rock Band: Green Day" of Project Divas.

There are quite a lot of good songs that has come out since last year. 40mp, Hachiouji, Polyphonicbranch, GigaP, DECO*27 has many good songs and there are lots of good songs from MikitoP, Wonder-K etc. I think there are plenty of songs that can be added to an eventual sequel since f2nd had many reused songs from older games.
