Hatsune Miku Project Diva series general discussion thread

Isn't this one from a different song entirely?

I'm leaving work in a bit but tonight is a DLC night. I was sick for the last one but I plan to stream the release of this one like I did the first set of DLC songs.

Also, YouTube enabled 60fps uploads sidewide today and I went ahead and made sure one of my old favorites from Dreamy Theater 2nd was updated: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TkIJu8WKXHw

I also uploaded an old gameplay video while I was waiting for that to reprocess. It was actually my first ever attempt at 60fps capture, which clearly didn't go well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_5A_Y2heDQ

Isn't this one from a different song entirely?

All the DLC modules are updated versions of old modules from the PSP era, and don't necessarily align with the songs being released at the same time.

Man, I reaaaallly hope they release the DLC westward. Too much good guff they've put out.

Your wish has been granted

Guess I can stop buying them in the Japanese version now, good thing I didn't have time to buy the new stuff yesterday.

Gonna be cheaper too, plus a season pass, nice.

The season pass for modules is pretty crazy at 69.99 though. But the 29.99 season pass for songs seems like a no-brainer.

Just crunching some numbers - the claim is made that the season pass saves at least 25%. At the quoted a la carte prices ($1.99 per module and $2.99 per song) and rounding all results up, that works out to a minimum of 47 modules and 14 songs.

The module number isn't outlandish considering there have been some monstrously large module packs in Japan already - the swimsuit module set alone makes up 14 modules (though they were sold as sets of two for the price of one if you didn't buy the whole package - so I really hope they didn't count the sunburned variants when they worked out the season pass pricing D:).

Woah. Thanks for the heads-up.

Songs pack is definitely mine, that said I'm probably going to have to cherry-pick the costumes. Part of me wants all the modules but actually getting everything would cost 2 full games. No bueno, even if it is significantly discounted.

dunno how familiar you all are with SEGA's facebook, but, there is always some crazy Shenmue fans spamming every post SEGA makes.

This made me laugh.

Do we know if the DLCs will be forward compatible like the Extra Characters and the Snow Miku modules? That would make the prices less painful.
Edit: Of course we won't know since there isn't a new game coming. What was I thinking. But I sure hope so.
And is Kasane Teto wearing a Norwegian flag module?

Why are those guys not spamming for a localization of Yakuza Zero instead, that's something that could genuinely happen if we pester Sega enough about it.

So excited for F 2nd! Played the demo a couple of months ago and I really liked it but felt like waiting due the amount games I was playing at the time. In the mean time I've been checking out some Miku concerts online and now I want to go to one, badly.

All I can pray for is that SEGA will update the Asia (Japanese) version DLC with the west, and at western prices.

It would hurt so bad if I have the only version without DLC.

More news from the Sega blog post:

There have been a couple changes to Edit Mode for the overseas version to make the mode as user friendly and accessible to our English speaking audience as possible. For example, we have extended the lyrical text limits from 22 characters to 44 characters, so you can actually write out full lyrics now! The side effect though is incompatibility with Japanese Edit Data.

Is this the first official indication that compatibility was even possible? If that was the only reason, I think a lot more people would have taken cross-compatibility over longer character limits...

So the Western versions will allow you to import saves from the Japanese versions.

On the one hand I'm glad I won't have to bother with the Diva Room again to unlock anything, but on the other hand this means that upon starting the English game I'll essentially already have everything unlocked.

I wish I had known about this earlier, or I would have done my DP grinding in the JP version. :[

Of course I do have awhile until I actually get to play 2nd...

"Cross-saved to PSN"? Do you need PS+ for that?

No. I'm a standard user and used it just fine with the Japanese version.

Cross Save works without PS+. It says so in the manual. "Free of charge"

I really like the Cross Save feature, it's great. Now if only i could get Project Diva games calibrated correctly on my TV.

AH YES

I was hoping for this SO BAD

This is AWESOME news

Breaking the Edit Data compatibility is really stupid ... one of the reasons I wanted to double dip for the english version was that I could finally play all my edits without having to switch to my japanese PSN account =/

I managed to find a few things to sell, so I can squeeze PDF 2nd into my budget. (Thank you, based Bookman's.)

I will get the base game and POSSIBLY some DLC. Not all of it, because $70 for the costume pack? HELL NO.

I'm so glad for that Necro Bump on the Diva F thread the other day.
Really forgot that 2nd was coming out on tuesday. Preordered it today for vita.

Does anyone know if the F 2nd cross-save would work between a Vita and a PS TV? That would be more convenient than going through PS+ cloud storage, I think.

Does anyone have any suggestions for the PDF 2nd OT title? I was originally thinking about "I'll Miku-Miku You♪ (For Reals)", but the Destructoid review made that the tag for their review. I'm considering "The World Is Mine" now.

So does the Japanese save import require you to have been playing the Japanese version on the same PSN account you plan to play the English version?

The "I'll Miku-Miku You" song is just so catchy. You gotta use that as the tagline. I like pariah's suggestion if you don't want to look like you are copying Destructoid.

Also, Project Diva F 2nd feels harder then Project Diva F to me, and I found another review that thought the same, so I'm glad it's not just me. Was Project Diva F unusually easy or something compared to the other games?

While I’ve heard of no official changes to the difficulty, Project Diva F 2nd definitely feels harder than its predecessor. Though it was fun all the while, it’s worth a note that I found myself getting my ass kicked even on Standard and Easy Modes way more often than I did in the last Project Diva. In Project Diva F 2nd, it’s as if Normal Mode disappeared, leaving the options as Easy, Hard, Extreme, and Holy Crap Extreme.

Having played all five, I'd say the difficulty has consistently increased with every iteration.
