HDTV - Next-Gen consoles

I have no clue how many games of this generation support Progressive Scan in the USA.. I do know there isn't something called "Progressive Scan" over in Europe.. yet

I'm planning to buy a new TV, instead of buying a high quality 32" CRT I'm planning to buy a Plasma HDTV Ready TV which supports 720p

though... I'd like to know if most of the next-generation games will support HDTV?
Will the option for progressive scan be available for Europe too? What do we know from E3 about the HDTV option in general?

in other words, I'm wondering if it's worth paying the extra money for a TV which is HDTV ready!

all xbox 360 games will be 720p, 16:9

i'd assume all ps3 games should support HD standards as well

i'm not sure if revolution supports HD though

1) Next gen systems (NTSC versions at least) will be supporting HDTV resolutions of 720p, 1080i and in the PS3's case 1080p as well.

2) Do what most videogame enthusiasts from PAL land try to do: Import. PAL conversions are rarely worth it.

And I'd be careful with plasma. We use them in our office for art reviews, demos, presentations, etc, and they have horrible burn-in problems. I'd invest in an RP LCD or DLP if you want a big screen, or a CRT if you want picture quality.

wrong! there is progressive scan (low end 480p or something) actually in europe. ebven sony europe games like primal and the getaway use that mode.

i would like to know, if upcoming games alos supports the low end progressive scan and normal tv resolutions. i cannot think, that the geme makers would kick all the poor gamer in the ass.

I posted this in another thread already but whatever...

We do have HDTV in Europe now, the EU have set guidelines for broadcasts and TV sets (720p is the default picture quality) So you should start seeing sets with the HD READY label on sets (which is the EU symbol telling you that the TV is 720p AND has a HDMI or DVI connector). So any set you buy with a HD READY logo on it will be fine for next gen.

Im pretty sure both Sony and MS will properly support HDTV in europe this gen, though i doubt sony will go with 1080p 'cause the EU hasnt set any guidlines for that yet. So it's definitely worth getting a HD READY tv, though personally im waiting because by christmas this year they will be everywhere and prices will start dropping.
