Oh crap ... see my above post. I was wondering this myself >_<

Yup, this was the interview where he revealed that he locked himself in a hotel room for a month:

I sat around in a hotel room in London for about a month, locked myself away, formed a little diary and experimented with voices — it was important to try to find a somewhat iconic voice and laugh. I ended up landing more in the realm of a psychopath — someone with very little to no conscience towards his acts. He’s just an absolute sociopath, a cold-blooded, mass-murdering clown

You guys should STFU about fucking BATMAN. Seriously, WTF kind of prick do you have to be to even worry about something so asinine.

I can't imagine what his family is feeling right now. And a little girl just lost her daddy.

It's all very sad, but there is certainly nothing wrong with wanting him to have pulled off what appears to be his best performance before dying. And on a purely practical level, how many lives do you think would be negatively affected by this movie being dumped mid-production?

:'(

I thought he was really good in Brokeback Mountain. Haven't really seen any of his other movies other than The Patriot (which was more of a Gibson movie) but goddamn I was looking forward to him as the Joker.

RIP. Terrible for his family. Goddamn drugs man...

That's harsh. The guy had talent and charm. A humbling way of making himself look fragile.

I never considered him a favorite actor or anything, but now that he's dead, I think he may of had the potential to be since I'm unusually sad. Not in a usually-stoic-to-actors way but in a genuinely-quite-sad to hear the loss of him. Much more than I would of expected. Very sad indeed.

In Memory of Heath Ledger at the end of TDK.... premature tears :(

I believe they only put that tribute at the end of the last film the actor shot, which would be Parnassus. But maybe they've changed that.

Totally stunned by this, very sad news.

Which reports are implying that it's a drug over dose. As a father I hold no respect for anyone who could or even consider taking such risks, but I'll reserve my complete disrespect for the deceased until the news is confirmed...

Even if you can't just hold a grudge for him just because he did that, the world is not black and white not that i wish it were.

Really sad. I always liked him in movies, and his performance as the Joker in DK looks amazing. He was already quite popular, but that role seemed like it was going to make him huge. Sad sad sad.

Speaking of Wikipeida, someone is vandalizing the fuck out of Heath Ledger's page. At the time of this posting it is definitely NSFW.

its very strange seeing someone who is around my age, and has done so much with their life.. throw it all away so abruptly.

it just feels weird.

Woah, that sucks. If it's unintentional drug-related then that's a sorry way to waste talent. If it's suicide, well, personally I think you would've been better off trying to make it through your tough times, but maybe you didn't have anyone there to really support you. Either way a sad thing, especially for the kid.

I'll pop in my A Knight's Tale blu-ray (shut up, it was on sale!) in remembrance, mang.

Aye, if you dabble with fire you're likely to get burned, still a damn shame.

Also, why do you say that about A Knights Tale, its a fucking awesome film, I may watch it again once I find my DVD, a toast to the man as it were, the least I can do I suppose.

just wondering are you a homophobe?
:lol No

I just never cared much for him as an actor. It has no personal ties to Brokeback Mountain. I liked Jake Gyllenhaal in a handful of movies. Does that make me a homosexual?

Ledger looked to be in a good position with The Dark Knight. Will probably be the third movie I like from him.

I don't think there are rules to dedicating a movie in someone's memory.

Man, this is really fucked up...shocking even. So young. Hopefully his take as The Joker (I know he was filming another movie, but his final full role in TDK) will honor his career and be a legendary role. RIP...

Those of you who say you have no empathy for him if his death was because of a drug overdose need to grow up. How could you not have at least a little empathy for someone who felt so bad about his life he tried to end it? Just because he was wealthy, famous, and privileged doesn't mean his life was perfect. Try leaving your computer every once and a while and interacting with other human beings and you might come to understand this whole empathy thing. Different people deal with their problems in different ways and having no empathy for someone because they make mistakes is a pretty sad way to live.
