oh man I was playing harvest moon and got bored so came to gaf and this was the first thread I saw and before clicking I though this was about a new movie.

such sad news I just saw BM for the first time a couple of days ago, a big lose for movie fans :(.

I've had plenty of bad shit happen to me and people around me and I've gotten through everything fairly alright, so certainly I don't any internet bandman telling me what's what in emo land. I'm respectful enough that I'm avoiding outright flaming Ledger here for what I view as critically selfish behavior as that is not my call, but I'll be damned if I'm going to let some rude bastard dictate rules around here.

As for The Dark Knight.. filming was finished, but I don't know if Heath had any ADR left to do. That's where they rerecord dialog that wasn't caught perfectly when they were filming

No the world is not black and white, nor do I think he was implying that kind of thinking with his post.

I don't know about the lives of any of the rest of you, but I personally have battled mood swings, depression, and a chronic disease all my life. My grandfather's body was so destroyed by this disease that he ended up shooting himself in the head. I was very close to him, howevere I did not understand why he did it. Now that I am older and have experienced the beginnings of what he went through do I understand. He was physically eroding to the point that he was ashamed of himself. This coupled with depression is a formula which can prepare someone to take their own life. And when depression strikes it can strike hard and I'm sure that day it just became too much for him.

The point I'm trying to make here is that I don't think suicide is something most people really plan out, it's much more spontaneous. There are events that lead up to preparing you to take that step, but I really doubt most people are conscious of them. And I suspect it was the same with Ledger.

I swear to God the people freaking out about people's concerns for Batman are damn near as bad as the assholes making jokes. The man was an actor, it was his passion and his craft, and if his acting didn't affect people or make some sort of impact to the point that we're concerned about not seeing what might have been one of his greatest roles yet, then you're basically disregarding what his life was about to millions of people.

You grow the fuck up.

As to this news I'm horrified and sad and just can't believe this at all. I loved Heath Ledger - before Christian Bale he was honestly my favorite actor and I've always enjoyed the films he did. I hope it isn't suicide... I really hope it's not :(

My friend called me and I thought he was just shitting around. I'm pretty shocked, this is a celebrity death that hit me pretty hard. As petty as it sounds, TDK put him on my radar in a big way and it's insane to think that the Joker will be his final role. Regardless of how he went out, he had talent and was on his way up. He'll be missed.

Until the autopsy results come in, any theory is useless.

For all we know, he could have gotten drunk and taken too many.

Pills + Booze = potential death.

And you guys cannot seriously compare this to Brandon Lee.

Brandon Lee WAS SHOT filming The Crow.

Whole different ballpark.

This really sucks. R.I.P. Heath. I was not a huge fan of his work, but I was getting excited to see how he portrayed Joker.

No comment on the callousness of a few people on here. I think it's best to just ignore it at this point.
