Heavenly Sword - IGN review (UH OH INCOMING)

Just as I expected from IGN..
Only I thought the production value would push it to an 8.

I tried telling people, this game is basically a next-gen MK: Shaolin Monks.
I still think it will score 8's overall though..

It sounds like a great game but just not very long - do you ever see movie critics knock a great movie because it runs for 80 minutes only? Game reviewers should stick to evaluating games based on their gameplay, content, and other attributes...length of game and lasting appeal should not be factors in the overall rating...Should mediocre games that last for 60 hours get a bump because they give more 'bang' for the dollar?

The problem is there is a $60 entry fee...

So if the game is short... and has no replay value.. then why the fuck would you buy it?

Bang for the buck defiantly matters.

can i post my "worst gameplay eva" comment again. :lol

the demo wasn't all that and i think i was the first one to called it.

p.s. if ign gives the gameplay a low score....how much do you think gamespot will give the game.

Let us play some twing twang on this special occasion.

I'll still get this game, but not until it is 30 or 40 bucks. Not because of the review, but because the game can be completed in 6 hours.

gafers are so desperate for the validation of big review scores -- more than usual, even. maybe it's a 'beginning of a console generation' thing. looking at rstein's post, it occured to me that reviewers shortchange practically all the games i like -- ridge racer, chromehounds, dead rising, lost planet, edf, armored core, senkou no ronde, the red star, ultimate g+g, motorstorm. and what does it matter, really

Nothing, bit that won´t stop this becoming a 15 pages thread full of rage.

Wasn't your critique based on your own inability to play a game that others found almost too easy? Stop flaunting your own shortcomings as were they desirable traits, kid.

Scored a bit lower than expected, but this and Lair are still day 1 for me. I've been craving for some really epic games since entering this gen, and I know they'll deliver for me.

Graphics got a 9.0 !!

Here's the crazy thing, it scored high in every aspect that is likely to sell a game. Low review scores or not, I think this might prove to be quite the seller. Shame that it doesn't have much to do with the quality of the game though.

oh. ok, i see that you throw excuses around even for someones opinion.

You complained about broken controls and the worst gameplay of the generation, which certainly leads one to think that you had issues with it. Nor does IGN say anything of the sort, so I'm not sure why you'd feel validated here. They say the gameplay is very good, which runs counter to what you said. Face it kid, your comments aren't going to be validated anytime soon.

Captain WOW-UH OH is the guy that's trying to get this blackballed? Does anyone else see the irony?

Disappointing to hear about HS... seems to be following the trend of; 'graphical expectations met, gameplay expectations, not so much' that's been so prevalent for the big hyped up PS3 titles.

Lets hope KZ2 has polish in gameplay to side step this little 'curse'.

People like you are turning this forum into a Halo 2 lobby...

The game is good, the game is fun. Is it teh leet XBOX360 suxxors, killer? No. But it is a GOOD game, something the PS3 needs.

Content ties into lasting appeal directly: more play hours, more unlockables, more reason to play through it again and again, sounds like content to me. Less content, lower score.

So...they basically did what you asked, factored in the gameplay, content, and other attributes like graphics and sound, and gave a score based on it; I don't see what's wrong with that.

I bought Crackdown because of the demo and despite lukewarm reviews, and thorougly enjoyed (and still do). So, I'm totally with people buying it because of the demo.

The people trying to take this 'review' seriously are hilarious.

Apart from God Hand his reviews are pretty damn good/accurate, so no need to start that shit ;)

You. Get out. No logic is allowed here!

But seriously, I feel the same way. Reviews are great ways to learn more about the game, but if you really enjoyed the demo(like I did), don't let it deter you. Ughh...

Even despite his 9.3 NG:S and 9.7 for God of War 2, which are much more similar to Heavenly Sword?

Man, what a mean-spirited thread we've got going right here.
Where's the love peeps?

This review score is baseless to 95% of the folks who post here.
The Sony devotees who already own PS3s would be buying this one even if it got 5s.
The folks who feel the PS3 is too expensive wouldn't be buying it anyhow.

The only group this review impacts are the fencesitters. How many fencesitters have we got in this thread? 1? 2?

Let's just make peace and have fun playing games. Remember the games!

The lasting appeal one is the only section I have a "problem" with. I mean, I've seen games with shorter campaigns and no unlockables score higher there.
Maybe by lack of lasting appeal they mean you can’t approach the same battle different way and try something new. I only played demo and it was too short to draw a conclusion so I don’t know.

This game will sell very well regardless. Visuals and music in this game are unbelievable.
