I Was very happy that my new CPU and Motherboard arrived (x870E Asus ans 9 9800X3D) but my PC wouldnt turn on no matter what. Swapped to my old motherboard and CPU and PC came back alive.

I wasnt expecting this to happen but fuck me i guess, the rumors about bricked AM5 motherboards and CPUs are real.

So what you guys recommended: Nintendo Switch 2 or PS5 Pro? :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Dude, what did I tell you about continuing to fuck around with Asus motherboards?

At this point you're just doing it to yourself.

Get a decent MSI motherboard and that way you can game and sleep peacefully.

Not even Q Flash worked

Dead motherboard then.

Return that POS and start listening to the build advice people are giving you here.

Lmao, it was the only one at stock sadly.

If you can exchange it for a B650E or B850 mobo you can probably get yourself similar specs for less money.

Also check the mobo socket super carefully, if you have a bent pin on the socket then just take it to a repair shop.

Get your money back and go to a different store with more choice.

You had issues with Asus on the Intel side of things, I have no idea why you'd still continue with them even after being warned.

As a whole PC builders should simply stay away from their motherboards:

I voted Series X so he can just get gamepass and won't have to build a library that will be useless when he comes groveling back.

Any "library" that will be tied to the windows store will still continue to be useless.

That's why I am saying just gamepass - not buy any games. I bought Shadowrun from the windows store (probably wasnt called that then) - never again.

The socket is fine, i'm more worried RMA might try to screw me up and break the pins.

You dont really expect your motherboard to come dead, even if was from ASUS. Either way, i dont even know which one to replace with since all X870E are out of stock

When it comes to Asus motherboards your only expectation should be that everything that can go wrong, will go wrong.

When you send the motherboard in make sure you send it in with the socket cover in place.

Trust me on this, dont get super hung up on the X870E thing. A lot of those mobos are too expensive and super overkill for what anyone actually needs.

Wifi 7 is actually useless, the 6ghz band is fast but has zero range and zero wall penetration of any kind.

USB4 is vastly overkill too (speeds will be capped by your storage media anyways if it's not USB4). And you can find PCIE5 on most high-end B850 motherboards.

Go with B850, I guarantee you will love it.

Also whatever you do dont go for an ASRock board, their 800-series have been killing CPUs left and right.

Document it with photo and video evidence before sending it in.

Sadly it was the only 870X-E i will ask the store for a full refund or send me another brand equivalent

My RAM is somewhat unstable and i needed a powerful MOBU to handle stabilir + at least 8 USB sticks.

Asus boards this gen have been known to overvolt the CPU. I would avoid Asus and ASRock mobos for a 9800X3D build.

I heard Asus has terrible motherboards, definetly issues with bios updates.

I have AsRock and its decent for what it is with my 7800x3d but I heard there are issues with 9800x3d dying in AsRock motherboards so I would choose MSI or Gigabyte.

what if he then orders a ps5 pro instead but - omg wtf DOA

fine then settle for series x - wtf doa!

ok switch 2 it is - WTF Darah Dan Doa

Yeh, right now if you're doing an AM5 build MSI and gigabyte are the safest options.

I'd recommend getting a replacement 9800X3D / mobo that actually works, like 99,9% of them.

I can testify on this divine truth.
I bought an MSI board as suggested
I gamed
I slept peacefully

Draugoth Draugoth why don't you want to sleep peacefully? Join us (not in the same bed, to be clear)

Replace the CPU or MB, depending on what's broken. It is more likely that the MB is the culprit. If it has warranty, just get it replaced.

Why would you buy a console if the rest of your PC is intact?

could be related to this ASS Rock mobos frying 9000 series CPUs.

thinks it may be an issue with SOC/Uncore OC mode being disabled by default.
