Hell Yeah!! King Kong Demo tomorrow!!

PJ a BG&E fan? Add another to the ranks..

WRAWK!! Looking forward to it. I just read you only get to be Kong for about 20 to 30% of the game though.

I have been playing a Xbox demo that ubi sent out to me for the past few days...

It's great both the Jack level and Kong level are fantastic

Probably 100% of the demo though.
*cough*literacy*cough*

Available via GameSpot's revamped downloads section, the demo will include two missions: "Chased by T-Rex," which puts players in the boots of the film's hero, Jack Driscoll (played by Adrien Brody in movie), and "Kong vs. T-Rex" which will see the titular ape face off against the toothy dino-star of Jurassic Park.

God, I can't wait to play this... now, if only I can get through this fucking essay...

Huh?

I have no clue what you're saying here. It's entirely possible that you are only Kong in 20% of the main game and in 100% of the demo version....

Did you read what I quoted? The demo has two levels.

A month or two ago I was invited to see a demo of this running. The guy was 'playing' it, but we weren't allowed to touch. Beautiful, though.

wow, thats alot of fun. VERY VERY basic, but good fun nonetheless.

playing as kong and climbing a wall and jumping off a-la Gollum in the two towers is quite entertaining and then ripping a t/rexs head in two or using a raptor to 'open' a door.

playing as jack was fun too, running away from the trex was fun and i quite liked the swimming animations.

i didnt find the 'kick raptor in the head' button yet...

Just finished the demo. Very very short.

The fps section was great!

Combat with kong looks as tho its gonna be button mashing. How much of the game is the kong sections? Not too much i hope. But I look forward to the rest!

Awesome. I'll have to download this later tonight!

There is no other strategy in Kong sessions except to button mash?

Well there's jumping, swinging and stuff but its all automatic with no skill needed except to press the button. The combat may be better with a gamepad (i'm using keyboard) but button mashing gave me easy victory!

I really liked the fps section tho, but its such a short demo.

IIRC it's 70% FPS, 30% Kong.

The good:
1. Highly cinematic, beautiful graphics and sound.
2. You can almost feel the hits that Kong doles out, pretty awesome.

The bad:
1. Framerate and sensitivity are weird on this one--the sensitivity is all over the place, with ~5 notches being too slow and the next notch up way too fast.
2. Clipping...jesus christ, the clipping.
3. Holding space to "arm" yourself. Don't care if you can change it, binding the space bar to a non-toggle arm/disarm key is pretty damn stupid.
4. The human part is fairly poor, reminds me of BG&E in a way--not good at all.
5. The Kong fighting segment is awkard due to a poor camera that jumps all over the place.
6. You can actually click the button too fast to get a fatality. I know, I've done it more than once.

The ugly:
1. Starforce
2. It blocks screenshots, both with printscreen and third party applications.

The lowdown:
Great for the cinematic feel, bad for everything else.

Can Michel Ancel lead a game that doesn't fucking suck? Christ.

I'd like to play the demo, but there's a fucking problem in which a lot of people have the game spinning and looking upward when you try to play the first part, including myself.

I couldn't even get the demo to run. It would load up and then I just got a black screen with both the in-game mouse cursor and the windows cursor.

Probably wouldn't care for it anyway. Rayman and BG&E both sucked. Demo has Starforce protection as well. Nice.

If you get the spinning up/down issue with this demo, try disabling any game controllers in your control panel. Worked for me.

What the hell are you talking about? absolutely nothing in this game reminds me of BG&E, despite it being devloped by the same team.

Just finished this... add another notch to generic, mediocre shovelware -- should sell well on PS2!

How are you still allowed to post? You'd think with your post history you would have been banned weeks, if not months ago. You're a low quality poster, Mihail, and you're steadily declining to Zeo-levels of stupid. Or worse.

This didn't work for me - any other help?

Other than the PS2 dig (which is what you're keying into him for), he's not too far from the truth. Cinematically this game is top notch--and I'll be damned if I didn't go apeshit (rimshot) over the sheer force that Kong's punches exude when fighting the T-Rex...but it's pretty middling overall. If this is indicative of the final product, I can't imagine any publication giving it over a 6 with a clear conscience. :p

I really hope the final release is better optimized -- why the hell am I getting the same framerates at 640x480 as at 1280x1024?
