Hell Yeah!! King Kong Demo tomorrow!!

I really hope the final release is better optimized -- why the hell am I getting the same framerates at 640x480 as at 1280x1024?

Oddly enough, when I set it to max settings (1280x800, 16:9 display, full audio settings), it ran better than it did at the standard 800x600 res. :lol

Another thing--wtf is with the blocking of screenshot taking? I use printscreen, I use a third party screenshot taker, and it blocks 'em all from functioning. :-|

Hahaha, that's DRM my friend. Same thing as in Office 12 with IRM. Surprised they've put this shit into a GAME DEMO. It's not like anybody is going to print those copyright protected Kong shots, what a bunch of crap.

Cool demo, the Jack T-Rex encounter is about the most frightening monster encounter in a game yet. Very impressive. Yes, I play games, heavily.

It was alright, I guess. I couldn't find the spears (didn't know wtf to look for), but shooting a flying creature with a couple of rounds and watching it fall into the t-rex's mouth, then running around that one little door with a couple of gunshots here and there repeatedly worked well.

Nice effects, but nothing that hasn't been seen (God of War, most notably) before.

Very slick demo. I enjoyed both stages, to tell you the truth. High quality graphics, and blazing framerate even with maxed effects.

The FPS was good standard stuff, but that Kong level was tops. True sense of freedom when I was swinging off braches and running along ivy covered rockfaces. And the combat engine was nice. Loved the use of the mouse wheel for "rage" and special attacks.

I'll purchase when it hits $20.

Very cool looking game... but I had problems controlling Kong to go where I wanted him to go (might play better on a console). I also couldn't figure out how to throw spears....

I don't know. I was looking forward to this game. Still am to an extent, but it's dropped a few notches on my 'list'. Looks sweet. Swinging as Kong was cool, but the gameplay did seem a tad shallow. And I hated the space bar to shoot thing.

wow I can't believe the Ps2 version is going to be better. This is a PS2 port for sure. PS2 version > better controls, graphics etc.
can't wait

What if you have the Dual Shock rip off controller from Logitech for your PC? ;)

Hopefully it works with this demo.

I can see the PS2 version matching the visuals(but probably not the framerate), and the controls will surely benefit from dual analog support.

Still, I managed to catch on pretty quick to the PC Interface, and will probably support that version for the lower price.

It ran well and looked nice, but I wish the controls (especially Kong's platforming) weren't so basic. They feel like a step up from Sonic's "push forward to win" formula.

Very disappointed about the gameplay, king kong and jack are not easy to control, the graphics looks good, the FPS view is strange...

Check the gamespot vids. There is a Ubisoft dude who used to post here but I haven't seen him in a while (Wyzdom) he also said the PS2 was better.

Wyzdom was a tard.

But I wouldn't be surprised if the PS2 version was tops because of the interface.

Framerates and controls are fine here , I took some screenies this afternoon while playing through a second time :) I also had no problems snagging screens using FRAPS.

Looks awful. I'll give this a pass.

The movie will destroy this and i dont want to spoil anything :P

Other than the PS2 dig (which is what you're keying into him for), he's not too far from the truth. Cinematically this game is top notch--and I'll be damned if I didn't go apeshit (rimshot) over the sheer force that Kong's punches exude when fighting the T-Rex...but it's pretty middling overall. If this is indicative of the final product, I can't imagine any publication giving it over a 6 with a clear conscience. :p

Oh yeah, I hear you. You might be right, I'll have to see in the OPM demo. I can't imagine where all the super positive impressions on gameplay and visuals have come from though, it's a pretty big lead up for such a let down. Wonder what went wrong...

...but I do like BG&E and Rayman, so I'll just have to see.

Yikes, I could see how the PS2 version will actually look better... and it doesn't even come close to approaching the X360 screens we've seen.

Blegh.. Starforce. Don't want that kind of shit on my system so i'll pass. Christ, it's a demo, why use a fucking copy protection method.

Holy shit, that thing looks terrible.

Look at Kong's fur :lol

Played the demo today, it was alright.

The Trex chase scene was decent. But I hate that you gotta hold down the space bar button to draw your weapon. It should be a toggle.

Also, the king kong section is a little boring. Button masher indeed.

After looking at that, I just uninstalled the demo. Even though I can't play the game thanks to the mouse issue, those shots look really bad.

I thought the FPS bit was a bit naff (I died 5 times), but the KONG bits!? HOLY CRAP!!! The animation on Kong is fucking awesome.

Probably to prevent people from using the demo as a reference to help crack the final game.

I really liked it, maybe because the things felt real. Like I felt like I was Kong, huge and powerful, and I felt like I was a human, scared shitless from the t-rex

Yeah it was cool visually. The visual viewpoints for the platforming on the king kong stage is cool, if not a little confusing at times.

Gameplay in that section blew chunks though.

Tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap.

Shit, someone could take screenshots?! The hell?

Yeah. Use FRAPS.
