This is the truth. People gaslighting over combat concerns are just being dishonest. It could turn out to have more depth than the first game's combat but they did not demonstrate it in last night's trailer.
He's not the only one on this forum lol, autism spreading like wildfire around here.My man dialing retardation to 11
Ahh yes, the classic "if you dont like it you didnt play it".This thread is just an endless stream of horseshit I don't even know where to start.
First Hellblade had 3 types of running attacks, parry with 3 different counters, dodge with 3 different counters, attacks to shorten distance, attacks to create distance, multiple types of guard breaks and about 20 different combos between light and heavy with the ability to chain them all together between one and multiple targets.
While pretending to have played the game maybe at least go look it up.
Combat barely looks like an improvement over the first game which is a bummer cause that was one of my major gripes.
The first one had good combat for a first attempt by an aa dev. As long as they expand it it's going to be fine. It's biggest problem was the zero interactivity puzzles and environments. Remove the puzzles or make them substantial like real puzzle games. Copy from talos principle, Jonathan blow etc.Gameplay looks like more of the same, but let's be honest, none of us played the first one for the gameplay.
Being the graphics whore that I am, I will experience this for sure.
How exactly do you expect anybody to be talking about walkthroughs, performance, secrets, and tips help on a topic about a trailer? If you want those you go to the OT of an already released game and discuss them with people here who actually do that too.I'd love to sit in a conference room with the lot of you, face to face just arguing which system has the better exclusives, sales, marketing just to see how pathetic you guys look in real time.
This is a gaming enthusiast site, not PSU or Xboxera only site. You should be playing on every thing and discussing walk throughs, performce, secrets, tips help.
Annnngry!!!!!! Lol
Duhhhh, they just completed the Acti/Blizzard deal…..
Sooooo, Sony is now paying Microsoft money for the rights to market COD….
This is your answer to redundancy. You got something on your nose.
Some of you guys have your head so far up Sony's ass that you can't even see what is happening around you and on top of that they can't even give you the proper decency for a reach around.
It's okay to criticize, it's how change happens.
But if you wanna keep getting spoon fed the same shit year after year, by all means keep eating.
Don't know about Returnal, it's a rougelike, not my cup of tea….
It's amazing every new generation there's a new slew of PlayStation only players who latch onto the tit of whatever new IP Sony tries to introduce at the beginning of the generation is the best game of the generation. Let's see the Bouncer, Lair, the Order and now Returnal…. Amazing lol
There's a few out there Lies of P, Hi-Fi Rush, Octopath…. Just those three alone I played and finished this gen.
Easy peasy, stop having so much story in your game……
I really don't mind it, the first game to do it was Gears right….
I don't know about that, there is 5 or 6 AC games on the PS2 and combined they sold less then Fires of Rubicon as far as I know? Anyone with data?
"Mocap wanking"...Im stealing this.I hope youre right. Currently just mocap wanking. I need to see what you can actually do in combat
I thought the combat sections in the first game did a great job of mixing up the formula. And it had some amazing potential at surface level imo. The parry slow mo's with particle fx in conjunction with the epic music was great, though lackluster in general.Combat probably isn't a draw to this game and outside of Japan, it's hard to think of developers who do this type of combat well.
This is the new Tomb Raider kinda game. That TR devs should've made 15 years ago. Let's hope they drop the mental retardation aspect, if they plan to continue this.![]()
Hellblade II | The Game Awards 2023 Trailer (Releasing 2024)
In-game cinematics and gameplay captured by Ninja Theory on Xbox Series X, with music by Heilung.www.neogaf.com
Lol, OK bud. Shoot a few guys, throw some bricks, walk some more, loot some stuff, another cutscene.
Not sure why you're going to such lengths to pretend a game has more gameplay than it does. TLoU is largely a cinematic game, like Hellblade. That's not a bad thing, but would appreciate you being honest with yourself.
Yes, I am serious.
This is a nearly 11 hour video, for example. 11 hours of walking, talking and cutscenes. TLoU is largely a walking and talking game with some combat and brick throwing simulation mixed in. Quit pretending it's not.
Cringe opinion. While hellblade combat indeed does look good, no need to bash the Japanese games that have and will usually be better. This isn't holding a candle to dmc. Or guilty gear. The combat looks hard hitting, visceral, gory and intense. 1 vs 1 and personal. This is not your pew pew flashy little anime action game with all flash no substance.
This is combat for men.
Reminds me of The Northman - THIS is what they were going for.

And it looks like they fucking nailed it. Combat looks goddamn incredible.
I dont know how you can possible say the combat looks bad. It looks EXACTLY like what they were going for.
Crafting and stealth along with shooting and looting. That's quite a bit of gameplay you are ignoring so really shouldn't chide anyone for not being honest with themselves.
How the hell do you use a cutscene video when talking about gameplay?
The point being there's 11 hours of cutscenes in a game people like yourself are claiming is filled with gameplay. The alleged gameplay doesn't exist. It's largely cutscenes, walking and talking. Time to beat has the game at around 24 hours to beat. 11 of that is cutscenes. The 13 hours remaining is "gameplay", walking and talking.

Fucking king. How exactly do you expect anybody to be talking about walkthroughs, performance, secrets, and tips help on a topic about a trailer? If you want those you go to the OT of an already released game and discuss them with people here who actually do that too.
People are discussing things as normal including the usual opposing, sometimes contradictory, opinions so you can drop the holier than thou attitude. I just looked at your post history to see if you're the change you wish to see and JFC I can see now why you're upset about what people are discussing here:
None of it seems like game tips and walkthroughs to me. Seems like the same "lame" console war, sales, gameplay/story talk you just pretended to be above. I see why you want to sit in a room thinking others are pathetic. You're one of those types who thinks their opinions or character is above others, getting enjoyment from it.
The bullshit you spouted after being triggered about somebody's opinion of their best new IPs was funny too because Octopath wasn't even an IP from this gen and Lies of P was based on Bloodborne. You know, the actual new IP that people liked from the previous gen, I've seen nobody actually say The Order, Lair etc are the best new IPs for their respective gens. Who ever said Lair was the best PS3 new IP when Uncharted, TLOU and LBP were all introduced during that gen? Who would pick Bouncer when Ico, GOW and Sotc were introduced on PS2. And if they did so what? But I guess going for something more realistic that somebody might have actually said like
"Let's see the Ico, Uncharted, Bloodborne and now Returnal…. Amazing lol"
Didn't have the console war effect you were going for of comparing Returnal to games most people didn't think highly of.
Did you even watch the video? Not all of it, but at least some of it?
The game has 4 hours worth of cutscenes in a 25-hour game.
The video includes every bit of dialog even during combat sequences. It even includes notes and journal entries.
This video includes many combat sections where dialog is included. It shows the entire escape when Abby first meets Lev and the entire Boss fight after that. It also includes things like The flashback sniper scene between Ellie and Tommy.
I did. Why is walking and talking gameplay in the last of us, but it's not in Hellblade?
Gameplay looks like a gussied up Ryse Son of Rome
So, what im a saying is this:
Hellblade 2 will launch (theoretically speaking) in the midst of when the actual "next-gen" games are coming out. Right now, the only thing going for it is the graphics.
And this brings me to the cautionary tale of what our Xbox friends have been victims of: overhyping and putting too much pressure on studios to deliver something generation-defining, especially when such studios are not built for it (I'm talking about their size and technical/technological powerness. Ninja Theory is Using UE5)
How do we know? Is there a gameplay trailer I missed?Visuals are crazy good.
I guess it's more of a laugh or you'll cry scenario for me lolImagine having to watch toddlers having an argument every day for years. I detest fanboys. They ruin the joy of discussing and debating games. I wish i could but i can't find any humor in grown men being this immature.
Lol, OK bud. Shoot a few guys, throw some bricks, walk some more, loot some stuff, another cutscene.

This looks like the most visceral combat ever in a game. Definitely since TLOU 2.
Give me this intense 1 VS 1 combat over that hack and slash, pew pew, flashy anime shit ALL. DAY. LONG.
Image that after all this hype and several Game Awards appearance this game will be a strong 6 or mid 7.
Holy shit, you just managed to do circles around Hellblade 2 and ironically ended up the most pretentious thing in this thread.Okay, guys
Ninja Theory is one of those studios (like Remedy, Quantic Dream, or Kojima Productions) that exude a certain level of pretentiousness (in a good way)... they want to convey more than just a "videogame." or their games have certain "Author" vibe. Now, the first game is contemporaneous with GoW and Horizon Zero Dawn; both of those already have their sequels. We can think of two reasons why Hellblade 2 hasn't been released yet:
1. They are not as big as Guerrilla or Santa Monica. This means that they will take more time making a game, and there is no guarantee it will have the same scope as the other two.
2. They are dealing with new technology to achieve their "Next-Gen Vision"
That´s fine overall. "Let them cook".
What´s going to be very interesting is how hard are they going to go with all the mental ilness thingy. Because now that they have the resources to go all "artsy fartsy" maybe the outcome will be very divisive. (that´s what im thinking the discourse will be like).
Graphically speaking is very impressive...NOW. But that 2024 release window could become early 2025. And that will be the issue. why?
The "Starfield effect". Some "pundits" argue that the release timing of the game close to Cyberpunk update, as well as No Man´s Sky and BG3 had a negative effect in how people talked and compared Tod´s "Magnus Opus".
The other point is the 'Spider-Man 2, Horizon Forbidden West, GoW Ragnarok' effect. That's something I have talked about, but I have also seen it as a 'talking point' elsewhere = the 'More of the Same' effect. I don't know about you guys, but I think the overall 'impact' of the sequels I have mentioned is not as great as one could have anticipated. (I´m talking about the overall game desing and mechanics).
So, what im a saying is this:

Your argument is too compelling. I'm now declaring Baldurs Gate 3 a movie game.
not sure which part made you think it has anything to do with people liking or disliking the game. Try reading slowerAhh yes, the classic "if you dont like it you didnt play it".
Because it's against the laws of the universe for someone to have played the same game as you and have a different opinion than you about it.
Hey I did really enjoy the first one for what it was.Imagine that after all this wishful thinking for schadenfreude this game will be a strong 9 or a strong 10.
(Hey, at least it doesn't make less sense than the other post)
I've also been thinking a bit along the lines now of "who is this sequel (or game) for?". Like in terms of just plainly using that to adjust how I view the game. It's not in the way some might use it to say there's no audience; quite the opposite. A sequel could just be wanting to appeal to the hardcore or core fans of what came before. Others could be wanting to completely change course and rapidly grow their audience.
So I feel games should be looked at accordingly. I'm still looking to see what particular adjustments or changes they have made to elements of the combat mechanics and gameplay loop, but as long as it's not literally just copy-and-paste same as the first game altogether, that should be interesting to see (and play) for those aspects, in addition to whatever they're doing with the story, audio, and visuals.
Giving a score from a TGA trailer is a huge subjective stretch.. It'll never ever make valuable sense.Hey I did really enjoy the first one for what it was.
The sequel just gives me bad vibes gameplay wise. They have shown the game now for a third time (?) now on the show and we still haven't seen the fighting more than just a glimpse.
(It did make sense)
The thing is that it makes me think that they are afraid to show proper gameplay.Giving a score from a TGA trailer is a huge subjective stretch.. It'll never ever make valuable sense.

It most likely will score in the 7 range, but you know what. I couldn't care less. Professional reviews are mostly useless to me. More so than ever over the past couple of years. Plenty of games have been rated "mid" that I've absolutely loved. Plenty have also been rated "amazing, best game of all time!!" That are vapid, safe, hollow experiences geared towards the masses that I couldn't care less for.Image that after all this hype and several Game Awards appearance this game will be a strong 6 or mid 7.
