Damn, that'd suck if it's several years away..

Yeah, we won't see this for sometime. He was legally not allowed to work for year after he's departure from PG. It's really great that he has already landed a project so soon, formed a team and is getting ready to cook.

Is the original game worth playing today as I've never heard of this series before.

It's available on steam for £15 but it does look a bit strange.
No. It's a 30 hours game with poor combat, easy puzzles, pointless exploration (because the game is always on very easy) and a lot of unskipabble cutscenes.

Okami works better as a wallpaper than a game.

Currently £3.74 on Steam, £3.99 on the Nintendo eShop.

Ignore the poster above me, one of the best adventure games I've ever played and it's absolutely gorgeous to look at too.

Ditto on this. Absolutely phenomenal game from start to finish. It does lack challenge, but that's not really the point of it - it's still remarkably satisfying to play.

It's on sale right now on all platforms except PS for some reason.

Xbox is $4.99 as well.

Both PS4 Pro and One X enhanced to 4K/60.

More shit takes, when will they end?

Just stick to brainrotting yourself on Fortnite.

To be fair, Okami's reception is fairly divisive due to how slow the beginning is and the combat. The presentation is undeniable. It will be interesting to see what they do with the combat/celestial brush which I hope they move away from even if the trackpad on Sony's controllers could work well.

The teaser already hinted at celestial brush

but this is Hideki Kamiya, im sure he will work to deliver the best sequel possible(this is the first sequel he is ever worked on) and the combat should be one of the easiest improvments for him

I'm looking forward to what a sequel can do. Probably combat improvements would be my first guess. Being a modern game, it would probably include voice acting but I've always thought the old-school, varied pitch SFX in place of voices fit the aesthetic better.

And yeah we're obv. not seeing this for a loooong time.

I really hope voice acting it's out of the question, It would ruin the mood for me unless is masterfully done.

As for what I would expect from the sequel, bigger areas are a given. For combat I would think we can see increased multitasking as seen in TW101, being able to draw several things at once, mixing them up or letting them interact in various ways. But that would require a completely different approach to enemy design.

Imagine when ppl on this forum discover that Amaterasu is a female, insta woke
Everyone who researched mythology knows Amaterasu is a female.

What's surprising is how people don't know that Nike is a Greek Goddess. They think the founder of Nike came up with the name.

I hope they majorly improve the level design and combat. Game is like Zelda made by someone who had no idea what made Zelda so appealing. It's fucking gorgeous and a great concept but I've never made it past maybe six hours, it's the definition of a slog to me.
