Hello There, Racists!

Someone who thinks it's okay at the age of 16 to think that black people are inferior and/or deserve to die are not just immature teens. That's not something that is likely to go away at 26 or 36 or 46. And if their lives are ruined because of stupid, hateful shit THEY WILLFULLY POSTED ONLINE FOR THE WORLD TO SEE than tough shit. I'll save my sympathy and compassion for people that deserve even an ounce of it. If this means that these kids' lives are fucked and I don't have to worry about one of these wastes one day being the cop that pulls my kids over, or the judge that presides over my kids, or the person that interviewsmy kids for a job, or the person that is my kids' elementary teacher, then society is better off for it. Darwin's law at it's finest.

^ Ditto with the noted changes.

This tumblr is doing great work. Public shaming has always been an efficient tool for social change. The fact is none of these people can hide behind "I didn't know better" as an excuse. No one living in 2012 can. So now let their comments be permanently tied to their real names and good luck getting a job when your potential employer googles your racist ass in a few years. Or the college you apply to.

A 15 year old is responsible for his/her actions. The law may protect them in certain justifiable instances, but life will take care of their stupidity sooner or later, be it by public shaming or by biting them in the ass later. No sympathy. Public shame the stupid out of them. They wanted the attention after all.

I agree with the above statements, but... While I think this behavior is disgusting and intolerant, but I also don't exactly think it's our (or the creator of the tumblr's) role to make an attempt to punish them through exploitation and exposure, ie some sort of witch-hunt. Do high school kids really need the FBI called on them by an anonymous internet user for saying "Death to Obama!" on their twitter? Err...well, I don't want to argue with you guys.

I used to slander people who I thought to be gay all the time when I was in high school. That was the culture of the "friends" I had, we hated people who were not like us. IF you didn't hate them, you were with them, and suddenly you had no friends, which means you would forever be a loser (in a high schoolers mind). But now I've done a bunch to help the gay rights, especially during my days at my university, because I Was able to see the error in my ways. Man, if I had been put on blast like this for the idiotic comments I made in high school, I don't think I'd ever have been able to live it down. Would I ever get a job? would I have even been accepted at that university? but today I'm nowhere near that fool that I was back then. A 15, 16, 17 year old's mind is NOT DEVELOPED. please don't ruin their lives for it. This is a terrible tumblr page.

I can't say I agree

Threatening to kill the president is a crime, a felony, regardless of ethnic background

Yes, yes they do. Children are taught right from wrong. At these ages, the basic morality should be in place. This is not just random errors in judgement. This is pure hatred on the screen. This is not a game. This kind of behavior must be stamped out.

Is this the "just look the other way" argument? I'm not advocating violence or harassment and tipping off the FBI might be extreme in most of these cases. But there should be a proportional response of condemnation or else these people (not all of them are teenagers) will continue to push their bigoted views without consequence.

As members of society this very much is our job.

Anyway, I'm off linking this tumblr in every board or site I can. Gotta make it as visible as possible.

How about 15 year olds selling drugs

Do they really need the police to arrest them?

there's a difference between being a kid and saying "lol that guy's a fag!" to a friend in a joking manner, and threatening to kill the president or physically harm a person of a different ethnicity on a public social network.

One more point, today these young people may express their views in outright racist, vulgar, and violent terms. But one day they could be the adult who doesn't hire minorities or blames minorities for why they lost their job. They could become a politician who thinks the country should only support white people or that food stamps is an evil program designed to make life easier for lazy minorities who refuse to get jobs. One day immature voices of hate turn into hateful actions with consequence.

I learned long ago that you can't fight ignorance with facts or outreach, the best weapon against ignorance is shame. And if a 16 year old kid hasn't learned that being bigot is bad yet I have no problem with them being shamed. Better kids have been shamed for far less. And just maybe they'll learn something.

I disagree. Without an event that strongly impacts them, these 15, 16, 17 year old racists will simply become life long ones. This tumbler page is doing them a favor; giving them a chance to break out of the path by shaming.

The cycle has to be broken somehow. Waiting for racists to die out ain't working since they are raising new ones before they die out.

We are a social species, shame is an effective method of communicating which actions are deemed antisocial. Someone needs to point out that their ideas are wrong and bad for the whole, if no one does, it will be passed on in perpetuity like it has continued to up to this very point.

railGUN: Odds are no one hacked anyones account to leave hateful words, and if anyone did, it would be such a small number that they should be able to clear up any misunderstandings.

I know you are playing but really
Threatening to kill the president is a felony

Why shouldn't they be investigated?
I actually fully agree with you. 15 yr olds (even younger kids) have murdered people. These are not children. These are sociopaths in training. They might be "following the leader" to fit in with their racist contemporaries, but that path will lead them to no good, and society needs to fight back these sick "worldviews".

Name 'em and Shame 'em. No pity for these dumb shits. I wish I could donate money to this tumbler to keep it running until the internet shuts down.

Let me ask you a question (anyone).

Think of all the stupid things you did from age 15-17.

Would you be prepared to answer for them?

YES

I just LOVE how mad they are. Seriously. I'm in tears. Thank you racists for making my night better. Bookmarking and sending this out to all my friends so we can all laugh at you.

Now back to playing BLACK ops 2 on my BLACK Xbox 360.

Also.. It's black as hell outside right now. They're mad. Lol.

When I was those ages I knew right from wrong and my parents taught me that one must be responsible for their actions even before I was a teenager. I already have answered for the dumb shit I done and learned from them.

I'd say there's a difference between doing and saying stupid shit compared to saying/doing antagonizing and hurtful things. Stupidity isn't purposeful, being an asshole usually is.

I did and said a lot of shitty things as a teen. I owe a few people apologizes, but I can say I am a better person now than then. If I went through a public shaming like this, I don't think I would be so shitty for nearly as long.

Owning up for past mistakes is apart of becoming an adult. If one of these racist kids wants to own up for being shitty, I'd accept that apology and wouldn't mind having a back and forth on the topic of race if they were up for it. I think most of this is echoing parents' racist bs, ending it now rather than letting them grow used to the ignorance is good for everyone involved.

I wasn't going on the internet spouting hate or advocating violence. Any stupid shit I did was on a local level and I was subject to local shame and consequence. A lot of teenagers don't know how to behave themselves on the internet. They see it as a risk free outlet for bad behavior. It isn't. If a high schooler shouts out "I'm going to kill you" in class they should, at minimum, be made to see that threats aren't tolerated. If a teenager on the internet advocates the murder of the president they should likewise be held accountable.

I better be! If not, what a shame for my parents. Regardless, it doesn't matter if you're ready or not. The world is a tough place, jails and cemeteries are full of proud idiots.

And if your parents hadn't taught you?
Any one of us could be tweeting stupid shit if that's how we were raised at that age.

Which is why society has to collectively tell them to shut the fuck up if their parents don't. But depending on their region, even those around them encourage these shenanigans.

Were you racist from 15-17 but enlightened at 18?

Laughing my ass off at this response. Lol. Too funny. But to answer that question.. When I was that age I would consider trying out drinking and smoking at that age a "stupid" mistake. But these teens.. This is just crossing the line. C'mon now.

Thank god twitter wasn't a thing when I was a teenager.

Edit:

That being said I think there's a very big difference between some teenagers posting offensive tweets and making death threats. The threats should be handled accordingly, just like when some asshole would call into a school with a fake bomb threat.

If these kids weren't taught by their parents that racism and advocating for the murder of the president are wrong then I would hope their community taught them that. If not, then their bigotry could eventually be exposed on the internet for condemnation and ridicule on a much larger scale. Funny how that works.

And we would continue doing it forever until someone told us to knock it off.

Racist kids unless reprimanded grow up to become racist adults, this is the way of the world.

Sure. My 10-13 years is when I did most of the things I'd rather not remember.

Everyone ages differently, but I think at some point as kids we gain some modicum of self-awareness and responsibility. I hope I'm not giving people too much credit.

Funny, I was all into PLUR (peace, love, unity, respect) at 15. I guess a DJ did save my life.

Just give some mdma to these bastards.

I was too busy doing that whole teenage girl crush thing to be an angry racist little shit. Plus my area was diverse as were my crushes.

You know, it actually kinda saddens me that these kiddos have so much hate in their hearts. It's fucking sad, but also dangerous.

My momma raised me better than that. When I was dating my ex, I always got awkward stares cause we were an interracial couple. Smh. C'mon now guys. Lets move forward.
