I've recently had the urge to get some doughnuts like the kind I used to have when I was younger, such as the supermarket bakery... but now that I look(I rarely eat them), Krispy Kreme has taken over EVERYWHERE, and the places that haven't been bought out are decrepit. Charlotte's right in the region where they started, so I've known of them for years, and I must say I don't see the hype nor paticularly enjoy their 3cm thick sugar glaze.

I just want to be able to taste something more substantive again... but where?

As I said, they've either outsourced to KK or are lacking in quality.
