Been playing some midwars with a buddy lately and it's been kinda awesome. Getting sick of the long as dota2/hon regular matches that can go for close to an hour.

Midwars may be stupid, but at least it's pretty exciting and somewhat succinct.

Speaking of which, my lunch:

- Cold soba tea
- Tsukemono: Pickled radish, cucumber and cauliflower
- Salmon and Cheese Mazeman: Cured salmon, cheese and lemon zest

Most interesting is the Salmon Cheese mazemen, made with raw salmon that's been house-cured with lemon zest and Sichuan peppercorn. And wait, what? Cheese on ramen? Yep. That's a mix of Camembert and heavy cream drizzled on top. It's one of those dishes where when you see it on the menu it leaves you scratching your head, but when you taste it you go, ah... that makes sense. It's light, subtle, and remarkably fresh tasting, literally and figuratively.

Taken small break from HoN though, small break I mean 2 weeks. For me that's an achievement.

Hello! My name is Robert “Kros” Cherry, and I’m the Technical Producer for Heroes of Newerth. I’ve been playing HoN for a long time now, and one of the things I do with any game that I play for any serious length of time is theorycraft. I’d like to share some of that theorycrafting with you guys today.


Imagine a mode that starts off with each player picking three heroes. You decide to pick your favorite heroes: Solstice first, then Predator, and of course Monarch.


You enter the game, and it’s not quite the HoN you’d expect; your abilities have been randomly generated from the 30 heroes chosen by all of the players!


So, with your crazy abilities in tow, you head off to your lane. There you are, carefully last-hitting, when suddenly Martyr throws an Amun-Ra stun at you. Good thing your Bubbles lane partner has Accursed’s Shield! Unfortunately, Legionnaire pops out of the jungle as Minotaur (that he’s stricken with Parasite’s Infest) and catches you before you can get back. Luckily, you respawn very quickly, and haven’t lost any gold. You also notice you have a whole new set of abilities!

This mode is chaotic, this mode is action packed, and it’s incredibly fun. I know this because we’ve been play testing it internally for a while now.


I’d love to hear what you guys might think about a mode like this, so please leave some comments below!

It's just gonna end up better polished though, hopefully.

They probably got the idea after seeing how popular the CursedQuarry map turned out that came from the "underground" mapping scene in HoN.

Although that was more like 500+ pre-generated skillsets.

Only took them 4 years?

Will actually give HoN a go again, because of the change.

Camera Zoom Distance
+ We've allowed the maximum camera zoom distance to be increased, largely as a quality of life change, to allow players a more valid response to heroes that initiate from off-screen. We are aware that this increases our system requirements and will be keeping a close eye on this change.
- The default and maximum ingame Camera Distance has been increased from 1,650 to 1,850 units
