Yeah in the end i think the same tho you still have to account for their range, like both certainly max out their value at melee range

W/ lucio being released and tychus being a lot less safe it's a pretty good environment for warriors

I think cleanse being more of a premium also has something to do with it.

Is it me or are they completely missing the mark with these Lucio nerfs? I understand they want to bring him down a tad, but they keep striking at his base kit and ability to go into fights, rather than the ridiculous level 16 talent which combines with the level 20 talent. Lowering his health just makes him harder to use to actually dive through a team and set up a kill with his Q, and lowering his basic heal just makes him even weaker early game.

The Rehgar rework cycle all over again. Then, belatedly, they'll hit his healing after messing with everything else and he'll fall out of favor cause they nerfed him top to bottom. They often seem to forget what they did previously when they keep nerfing a hero, or neglect to figure how that will impact the next round. Same with buffs. Chromie's damage is a pretty good example of that.

Feel like murky is back to being useless.

He's not seen much now. Probably a good thing. I had fun with him for a week at least. He does do better team fight damage now I guess.

We know everyone wanted us to promote hero diversity but instead we made it so everything was even more Rock Paper Scissors but we're passing it off as something else.

The anger of the "DRAFT SHOULDNT MATTER" crowd is hilarious to me. They're the ones who love to claim that "meta doesn't matter" and you can win w/ Nova/gazlowe all the time. I love that they're trying to make drafting more important, and they pretty much explicitly say that the Armor system is designed to dumb things down for low-info players.

I think the draft already mattered quite a bit in this game. It didn't really need to matter more in my opinion.

For plebs like us, you shouldn't get an auto win if the dude picking tank knows that Tank X counters Assassins Y, Z or an auto loss if he picks the opposite. You can hardly count on that knowledge in Diamond. Expecting it where the majority of the playerbase is (Bronze/Silver/Gold) is a bit much to me.

They are claiming that their changes are taking away those kind of picks, but it looks to me like it's only reinforcing them.

Basically what Bakery asked them here:

With some of the recent changes to Warriors (and the knock-on effect of that change affecting damage dealers) and the way that Supports have been designed for a while now, it seems like you want to move away from 'standard' or 'general' picks that are good in every situation.

Are you scared of the impact that this might have on drafts? Specifically the kind of situation where both teams just want to not lose the draft in the first phase (by leaving themselves open to be countered too hard by a late Tank, Support or Damage pick) and it will end up becoming a much more boring opening to the draft. That kind of situation also might stifle innovation and off-meta picks and compositions.

EDIT: Also, wow, they haven't answered hardly anything.

I played competitive super smash bros for years, and i saw this mentality all the time. People who refused to acknowledge that a certain characters do have inherent advantages over others, even in a changing meta. These players usually found themselves struggling to make any decent headway into the upper echelons of the competitive levels

I think this is the saddest part. Lots of questions but hardly anything responded back. Either it's taking quite a while to get a consensus on a response or they weren't prepped properly.

Well this game of Grubby trying to untilt with a Nova qm after a series of hl losses is certainly hilarious. Even at my qm level I've never seen such a shit show.

The few times I've watched him recently he wasn't playing well or at least his usual self. Not surprised he went on a losing streak. The start of a new season in HoTS seems to have the same symptom of hearthstone. I don't understand why GM aren't at least put in masters right away and have to grind out of Diamond.

The separation of anti-magic and anti-phys categories only makes sense IF and only if there is a proper pool of diverse warriors to draw from (there isn't), and if dmg was effectively split between the two types as well (it's not)

In league this dmg split makes sense for a myriad of reasons, spellcasters and autoattackers pretty much all-in on their dmg type and hybrids(?) will have lower numbers compared to their specialized counterparts, you can buy the resis you need, you can spike dmg and sef with purchases. Whether it's good balance is up in the air. In heroes you get valla who tops both spell dmg and phys dmg.

Also for the ama i believe they are waiting a couple of hours and then starting to answer

Well, it wasn't really a case of him not playing well, on the contrary, he played a good Malf game on towers but then threw that game at the very end by suiciding into the kill zone because he thought his team had already won. After that he was on tilt for obvious reasons. He did play a kickass zero death Samuro game with master of illusion after the Nova match I linked. It all balances out eventually and he did get back to GM.

Oh ok. I thought the nova match happened today.

Can someone elaborate on how the 10 placement matches work in regards to the previous season ?

I finished my 10 placement matches 5-5. It put me back in the same spot-Bronze 2 (forever Bronze FML) as previous seasons. If I were to go 10-0 would it put in my Diamond or just Bronze 1? Last season I went 8-2 in placements and it put me in Bronze 2 again..

is there any better feeling then when enemy ETC mosh pits like half your team but you to still kill everyone even though half your team is stunned?

Placement matches are just calibration matches in which they hide your rank. At the start of a new season you still have your hidden MMR from last season (which puts you at bronze 2), and then you play 10 matches where they hide your rank and then the game says "yep, your still bronze two". If you had won 10 in a row during placements it would pretty much be the same as winning 10 in a row during the normal season, so maybe that puts you in silver or gold... but that's probably not going to bump you up all the way to diamond.

it's not just that. They take your mmr, take the average mmr add the two together and divide by 2 to get your mmr for the new seasons. Placement matches should grant bigger adjustments and going 8-2 should have shown improvement among the people he's matched with during.

What is the average MMR?

regardless, placement matches still dont jump people 3 whole divisions. unless they're at the very top/bottom, maybe... but it's still probably not 3 divisions

Tyrande and Lt. Morales also going to be given a pass.

Tyrande will probably be getting her healing toned down so she's back to being an aggressive secondary support.

Oh yeah you'd just seen an improvement within the division or go up one. Dunno what their average MMR is hotslogs has ot at 1600 or so

Hopefully they mess with her trait aswell

Just buff it to 35% maybe.

Um, her trait is fine and already very good. Its the longest vulnerability in the game, the only one available early on, and its not a skill shot. If you have a Tyrande in your team its incredibly hard to lose the race on BoE, for example.

so then whats the point of placement matches every new season ?

The placement matches have a bigger effect on your rank than normal matches. Basically, for your placement matches every win / loss counts for more, so if you do well you'll go in at a higher rank than previous.

I played like poop in my last 2 HL placement games, damn I'm sucking lately. Managed to win 1 of them because the enemy forgot to defend our catapults while they were trying to end. I was fully resigned to losing this game, and then as I see the boss smacking away at our core, I see "Victory!" and notice the 3 catapults that have been on their core this entire time :D

but unless you are going to go 10-0 whats the point(Assuming most people don't go 10-0 as they are playing with people with in their skill range)

Do any of you guys generally rank up after seasonal placement matches?

I was placed in diamond 4 or 5 the first two seasons, and last season I went 4-6 in my placements and was put all the way down in platinum 3! Annoyed me so much I pretty much never played another HL match all season lol

Yeah was about to say, Milly went from Plat to Diamond on placements.

I've always hit diamond 3 afterwards. Usually the movement is only up a level or two within division, like from Gold 3 to Gold 1 or what have you.

If the pylon buffs were available sooner, if there was another talent or two that contributed auras or some baseline aura, Probius would feel more like a support "specialist" like Medivh with slightly better pushing power.

Watching skilled players on Probius scares me that they're going to buff him. Like waching HORSEPANTS and mewn play him right now (and destroy people) ... scary times

Probius can be really obnoxious on the right map--it's actually really strong at defending and holding a point on Braxis solo--or any instance in which you're given time to build multiple pylons.

It's also really easy for people to bum rush and destroy said pylons. Even through Pylon Overcharge if they aren't already poked down a bit as it doesn't do great damage.

I love him myself, but whether set up or not you're at constant risk for having your house of cards broken down very quickly. If your team can help hold the line he can do some real work, but doing it by yourself isn't the easiest without a wall at your back should they decide to commit to taking out your stuff.
