Hey new Wii U owners: B2G1 Wii U games (Target 6/22 - 6/28) - WiiU M/L Bundle $275

Oh damn. I wasn't going to buy any more WiiU games for a while, but if I can save $50 and get DKC, NSMB and something else I absolutely will.
 
Perfect timing got my wiiU last night. Gonna get mk8, donkey kong and 3d world. Getting wind walker with the mk8 code, this is amazing!!!
 
If you like fun, pick up Lego City Undercover. It's a great game, has a lot of humor in it, and plays really well. The loading times are atrocious, but it's worth the wait.
 
My local target said they couldn't do the amazon price matching. I didn't even mention Amazon lol I just said if I can price match the games. I guess I wasn't the only one going for the deal. The lady that got the games for me said that MK8 has been popular today. I wonder why... Haha
 
Just so you know, Smash Brother Wii U is part of the promotion. Its the only pre order game to be part of the promotion.

Plus that bundle off of Nintendo.com to save some money since the ones gaffers have been receiving are apparently like...brand new.

The Wii U has so much stuff compared to the PS4 even though I love the PS4, the only things I'm excited for with the PS4 is Bloodbourne and MGSV: The Phantom Pain.

You can price match with Amazon and ONLY amazon directly, not their marketplace sellers. sometimes they will say they can only match a higher price, but you show them this policy and tell them that if they match the higher marketplace price, they are breaking their own policy.

Gotta play by the rules, but gotta make sure they play by the rules too.
 
I need some suggestions on what to get. I got a WiiU this week with Wind Waker, Mario Kart 8, and then New Super Mario Bros. U because I registered Mario Kart. What other games would you guys suggest? I was thinking maybe Super Mario Bros. 3D World, but I don't know what else to get.
 
I have four options for games: Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, Wonderful 101, Game & Wario and Batman Arkham Origins. Two of them are not available online, and two of them are not available in (my local) store. The struggle is real.
 
I want to do this but I feel like MK8 and Pikmin 3 should hold me for a while. DK, NSMBU and 3dWorld for $35ish each sounds really good though.
 
I might go to my local target tonight and see what deals I can get. They'll probably be sold out and all but it's worth a try, lol.

Planning on getting Donkey Kong, Mario 3D World, and Pikmin 3 if I can.
 
Price match to Amazon worked for me at the Culver City Target. Grabbed Mario Kart, NSMBU, and SM3DW for $105, Pikmin for the free game. This is a crazy good deal and my refurb console should arrive tomorrow :) Thanks for the heads up GAF!

Tell them you want to price match and show them evidence. I just had the amazon page on my phone, showed the guy and then he took me to customer service to get the price changed.(this was for the 15 off deal a week or two back).

Does the promo automatically adjust the price?

Since I already have Pikmin, Zelda, 3D World, and MK8 I am thinking Dankey Kang, Lego City, and either Super Mario U or Luigi U.

Sell me on which one to get. Luigi has a lower metacritic, but I see the most mixed reviews I have ever seen on a video game with it.

I see Devil May Cry in your avatar, so I'd recommend the Wonderful 101. Two more excellent games to round you out would be Mario 3DW and Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze. Other games that are awesome but more niche are Pikmin (kinda RTS?), ZombiU (survival roguelike, not a shooter) and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate if you like those games. Plus multiplats like Deus Ex and Rayman Legends were originally built for the Wii U, and AC IV is pretty good too.

Also there's Eshop and Virtual Console games, but those don't apply here

I think I'm going to pick up The Wonderful 101, Mario 3DW, and ZombiU. The Wonderful 101 looks right up my alley, and ZombiU looks kind of cool. Thanks for the suggestions! :)
 
I really do want to take advantage of this deal but cannot think of an adequate configuration. Ideally, I'd pick up DK: Tropical Freeze, Super Mario 3D World...but then I can't think of a third high-priced game (already have Wind Waker, NSMBU/LU, MK8, Pikmin 3). Then I thought, why not Zombi U, W101 and Rayman Legends? But the first two area regularly on sale for much much cheaper. Shit. If only one of the Wiimote games (Sonic at the Olympics or Nintendoland) were a tad bit cheaper I'd consider that with the first two.
 
I successfully did this today with price matching. I price-matched to Amazon.

Just make sure the cashier does the price matching first; then the computer should apply the B2G1 automatically. I had trouble because I checked out without the price matching, then went to the Guest Services counter and attempted to get price matching after the fact. That was a mistake. I had to politely argue that the deals were supposed to stack, and eventually the worker had to return the games and then sell them to me again to get both the price matching and the B2G1 to apply.

Ended up with:
  • Super Mario 3D World
  • Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
  • The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker

All for $94.53 plus tax. Excellent price in my book.
 
I think most people have mentioned the absolute must-haves. I'd like to put in a mild recommendation for Game & Wario for those struggling to find a second game because they have everything else. Note that this only goes for people who enjoy same-screen multiplayer party stuff, as the singleplayer games range from terrible to not-really-worth-it. But the multiplayer has:

- Island: a fun, short, turn-based game of catapulting Fronks. Good combination of strategy and dumb luck; a nice beer game.

- Fruit: Fun little concept of spotting the human player (stealing fruit) amid tons of AI townsfolk.

- Sketch: simply pictionary, with a big library of words (have yet to have any repeats)

- As a bonus, the two-player Design game is way more fun than it should be. We sometimes do a little laddered tournament if we're with more than two guys.

(Never really play Disco)

Wanted that, 3D World and WW. I really don't need any games right now and played WW on GC so I didn't want to get both 3D World and NSMBU especially since I really didn't get into NSMB on Wii. I see no reason to get third party games in deals like these, them shits always go on sale/drop in price, unless you get them 3 for $40 style and my Target didn't have three that I wanted.

I'll try again next time!
 
Success! Even though I was there at 3:15 pm, I was the first customer to try price matching. I just told the guy I'd like to price match these. He thought for a second and said he wasn't sure they could price match on top of a promotion, but he didn't seem offended by the idea, so he started walking me over to customer service. The customer service guy was as curious about the idea as the guy from electronics, but he also wasn't offended by the idea. They just weren't sure if the system would allow it. But it did!

Perfect timing to get a wii u - free wind waker, 3 $33 nintendo-developed must-haves and enough club points all together to bring me to platinum before the June 30th deadline:

Pikmin 3 (the last one - the display unit!) Glad to see pikmin selling!
 
Both of the Targets near me wouldn't do the B2G1 with the price match. Plus both sold out of DK:TF. Oh well, still did the B2G1 as it was cheaper.
 
Tropical Freeze must be getting hard to get. I got the last copy at my Target this morning.

Worth if though, it's the best platformer I've played in years.

Does anyone know if Target is price matching during this promo?

The target around me was totally willing to do it, but said I have to come back tomorrow to do the price match in order to apply it since the order doesn't process until 24 hours. Blah! This is all a ploy to get me to visit Target multiple times.

I also bought Target's Ben Gay knock off brand, so I got knock off Ben Gay all over me now.
 
Wouldn't the best deal be to buy three Mario Kart? Make a family account on Club Nintendo. Take all three to GameStop and trade them for a fourth copy. If you have your receipt, they should let you trade all three. Keep your fourth copy and you should still have like sixty bucks(if you're a power up pro member) in trade credit to get another game or two. Get your four download games and you'll get twenty bucks back from the digital deluxe promotion. Use that for NSLU. If you get the $200 WiiU from Nintendo, you've now spent $320 and you have six games, seven if you count NSLU, plus sixty bucks to get more stuff at GameStop.
 
Damn, I have no funds to buy a Wii U right now.

Hopefully, and I'm sure, good deals like these are going to continue to pop up in the Christmas season.

The one in my town refused to do it. She said that someone during a deal a couple of weeks ago burned them for a bunch of games for less than $20. I told her that I couldn't help that her staff was incompetent but that what I was requesting was legit. I had print off the exact policy linked in this thread and pulled it out for her. She was condescending and told me that "she knew what it said." I asked why on earth she wasn't going to do what her very own company lists, and she said that it was now "their store policy" to only do one thing or the other (a special or a price match but not both). This was the same store that the electronics department would not sell me PS4 games when the street date was lifted prior to the PS4 release because "he didn't want to."

I called the store 40 minutes away, she looked at their online policy and said she could do it. I hopped in my car, drove 40 minutes away, and came back with Dankey, Mario, and Lego. Also randomly picked up Zombie U for 15 today at Walmart. Four games for a little over 100 is pretty nice.
